Hanako to Anne [Eng Subs] (ep1-9) [DROPPED]

Postby mecchaumai » Tue Jun 10, 2014 4:59 pm

Hello.

This is my first attempt in translating for subtitles so I'm sorry if there's any mistakes (I'm still learning Japanese and there's a couple of parts I was unsure of... I tried to sub as best as I could). If you notice any or have any suggestions, please let me know and I will correct them. I used the Japanese subtitles here for reference and they're also timed to the RAW files found here: 480x272, 848x480, 1280x720.

I'm looking to try and do at least one a day (I will tell you if there's a day that I can't upload one) and will post them here when they're completed :).
*Edit, I have an exam on Friday (20th) so I may not be able to update properly until then but I'll try to still get a couple up.

Note - I've used a few mistakes (spelling/grammar etc) to differentiate between Hana's Yamanashi accent and the Tokyo accent. If you know a better way to show this, please let me know :).

Since it's been a while since last subs, I thought you guys should get the subs for the rest of week 2 at least. Hopefully the original subber comes back, I think they were doing a great job.
Otherwise, I may decide to take up Hanako if I have the time. :-) I just started watching and am enjoying it so far.

Also thanks to dhisashi for the timed Japanese subs which I translated from.

So far it seems that these subs are timed to any that I have been able to locate including those at "xaxa's" web site - "Rare and old doramas restoration project".

Thanks ever so much for your work translating this asadora. Anne of Green Gables was one of the first books I ever read from cover to cover as a child, and it's most interesting and amazing that the story of the woman who translated it into Japanese would make for such an interesting drama. I just love asadoras in general, but this one will hold a special place in my heart, and it's all thanks to you. Arigatou gozaimasu.

Just a bit of advice : maybe, for those who are not English natives speakers & listeners, you could sub the parts when the teachers speaks in English?

Episode 6 is now up! Sorry about the wait!

EDIT: I will wait a day or two for the people who have been downloading them one by one and then just leave the 'week 01' (eps 1-6) zip file up. I'll do this every time I do a week's worth of subs :).

Real life ALWAYS comes first. It is not like you are being paid a salary to do these subs.

Having said that rather than posting one episode a day. My opinion is to just post them when you have them on your schedule. We users will adjust to that. If you need to take some time off; do it. I am willing to wait.

Thank you very much :). I will still aim to put at least one up every day but I may not be able to until after my exam.

Most of the reason I said one a day to begin with is it gives me the motivation to study. I need to do some every day anyway so may as well do something like this haha :). The days that I can't upload, I will comment to let people know.

I've put up episodes 8 & 9 now and also just deleted the seperate files for episode 1-6 and just left the zip.

ps. I was wondering if you are able to understand what the opening songs lyrics are? I've just been curious to know how it relates to the drama.

Ouch. It must be painful to have to wait so long for results. May I ask what course the exam covers? And yes, if you willing to share I'm willing to hear. I like to know the outcome for people I'm rooting for.

It's a Japanese exam actually! I've done it once a week at a night class for the past 4 years. I did beginners, GCSE, AS level and this year A level which is the British exam people usually take at the end of high school. This is the last one I can do with my lessons without going to university so I really want to do well! If it was just the grammar and vocab, I think I would be okay, but I have to study a book that I really don't like (and haven't even read it fully I hate it so much (I was supposed to finish it in December)). I should be fine though, I'll read it this week :)

Actually the full song is only done for the Monday episodes (at least in the Japanese closed captioning subs). Episodes 1, 7, 13, etc.

My opinion is only a one-time post of the full song is really needed, BUT that is only my opinion.

I don't mind subbing it from now on for the people that want it. I can do that quite easily :).

EDIT: For those wondering, the song is 'Niji iro' (Colours of the rainbow) by Ayaka, :)

After searching the internet I came up with the following info about the Theme Song - "Nijiiro" (Rainbow color):
February 21, 2014 @ 12:00 am
It's been revealed that Ayaka's new song "Nijiiro" has been chosen as the theme song for the upcoming NHK morning drama 'Hanako to Anne' starring Yoshitaka Yuriko.

Ayaka, who says she was overwhelmed by the staff's passion for the drama explained, "I wanted to write a song that would fit closely with the drama. So I worked on it in order to express the worldview that this drama holds." She continued to express, "It would make me happy if people from across the country would hum to it."

'Hanako to Anne' will start on March 31st.

Source & Image: Oricon

It seems as though it was written especially for "Hanako to Anne". And Ayaka sings it for the Asadora and has just released Nijiiro as a single in Japan on June 18, 2014.

Thanks for sharing your search results. It's no wonder these asadoras are special.
People sink their hearts and souls into these creations. I am grateful for being able to appreciate their work because of the kindness of fansubbers like mecchaumai,
and I'm looking forward even more expectantly now to understanding the lyric of "Nijiiro".

Hello! Sorry that I've not uploaded in a while, some personal stuff happened this week and I've not been able to focus properly. I've also had my exam today (Japanese A Level). I do plan to get back to uploading daily from tomorrow though. Thank you for being patient.

I will upload episode 10 tomorrow :)

Well... my mind was on other things so I couldn't concentrate properly. However, I don't have any worries about passing it. I just hope I've done as well as I wanted to!

(Thanks for asking :D)

Thank you very much! I guess that passing is the main thing so I'm at least happy about that :D. This will still be airing when I get my result (I think anyway >.<) so I may post my result here haha ^-^

She has not picked up a PM that I sent: Tue Jul 01, 2014 1:10 pm.
And her last post was Fri Jun 20, 2014 10:36 pm. I hope it is not the same as with Gochisousan's first English subber. :-(

Oh my, it is getting the same way of Gochisousan first english subber, I'm so sad. If my Japanese was more accurate I would do the subs... I'm almost finishing Gochisousan, just a week left, after that I was planning to watch Hanako. So so sad ;(

This young girl disappeared really quickly. She subbed 9 episodes in 4 days. Took a week off from subbing and had one last Post then completely disappeared from D-Addicts.
No contact from her since June 20, 2014.

Hi,
Since it's been a while since last subs, I thought you guys should get the subs for the rest of week 2 at least. Hopefully the original subber comes back, I think they were doing a great job.
Otherwise, I may decide to take up Hanako if I have the time. :-) I just started watching and am enjoying it so far.

Also thanks to dhisashi for the timed Japanese subs which I translated from.
