Mikuriya Asahi works as a photographer for weddings and school events in a sea side town. Chiyohara Natsuki works at a famous Italian restaurant in Tokyo. On her wedding day, her husband-to-be jilts her, and as the photographer hired for the occasion, that is the first encounter between the two. A disillusioned Natsuki, decides to move to the same seaside town as Asahi, where she works as a cook at 「Aoyama」. She befriends Taniyama Hanae, who has known been secretly in love with Asahi for 10 long years. Unfortunately for Hanae, Asahi only sees her as an old friend, and nothing more. Having found out about Hanae's love for Asahi, Natsuki encourages Hanae and gives her emotional support in trying to capture Asahi's heart. However, Asahi cannot forget his girlfriend Kasumi, who had suddenly disappeared 3 years ago.

An unforgettable love that is held on fast in the heart. With the power of summer, the heart is stripped bare and starts afresh for all three of them. --Fuji TV

I've tried the subs on KMPlayer and it works. For some reason when I updated KMPlayer, it didn't have "show subtitles" enabled - only figured that out now, duh. XD
I always use VLC player for all the dramas/movies and for some reason it won't work for me. I usually have no problems with ass or srt files. Could it have something to do with the encoding? I'm not blaming the uploader as I'm grateful that it's being subbed. It's just weird, that's all.

Omg, thanks so much! It's so awesome of you to sub this project.

For those of you having trouble opening the subs, did you rename it to exactly the same file as your raw? That helped me to open it up (but I use Potplayer).

There is a very easy fix for all VLC users... open the ASS file in a texteditor and replace the line of code under the heading [V4 + Styles] that reads:

Format: Auto4,Is,Broken

change this to:

Format: Layer, Start, End, Style, Name, MarginL, MarginR, MarginV, Effect, Text

Then change the line under the heading [Events] that reads:

Format: Auto4,Is,Broken

change this to:

Format: Layer, Start, End, Style, Name, MarginL, MarginR, MarginV, Effect, Text

now the file should work just fine in VLC... hope this works for you like it did for me!

change this to:

Then change the line under the heading [Events] that reads:

change this to:

now the file should work just fine in VLC... hope this works for you like it did for me!

Hate to admit I'm clueless about text editor, can't find it on my Windows 8 program, is it there? Is it a program that needs to be downloaded and if so what is a good free version to use? Thanks.

To tell the truth, I'm not sure why subtitles are not working in that VLC. I always use k-lite codec pack or combined community codec pack and everything work fine for me. But I think that it might be a gradient script fault. Looks like VLC dosen't support such effects.
Thanks to williambloke for writing way to fix it.
Maybe I'll upload srt version next time as well.
About question where is text editor just right-click on subtitles and choose open with, and open subtitles at windows notebook and then you'll see the whole script after that find lines you need to replace. Or just download notepad++ and open subtitles, then replace the lines.
You can also convert ass to srt.
1. Download Aegisub.

And do the things written here.
