Q10 [Eng Subs] (Ep 4-9 of 9) (Complete)

Postby kangarooo » Tue Jan 17, 2012 11:43 am

Since GiriGiri seems to have discontinued this project I decided to translate the remaining episodes. These subs are timed for the 1280x720 version but might work with the 704x396 version as well.

So grab them and have fun with one of the most interesting dramas of 2010!

PS: In case someone is going to ask for permission to translate these subs into other languages: Please feel free to do so.

17.01.2012: Right now I'm doing another quality-check. There will be an update at the end of the week. So please check again.

20.01.2012: QC done. I have corrected some minor translation errors and quite a few of the "usual suspects" (idiomatic expressions and punctuation). The updated subs are available now.

04.02.2016:
After about 4 years I watched this drama once again and on that occasion brushed up my translation.
The new version of the subs is ready for download now.
As I said earlier, it's a great drama with a unique magic and definitely worth watching once again.

Thanks for the insult!
Yes, I am sure that this is my own translation.

Dear cassiopaeia

Sorry, but I don't understand what you mean.
Are you talking about MY subs or Darksmurf's subs?
If you are talking about my subs, please tell me where the translation seems to be wrong or where you found a "(txu)" - whatever that is - and I will check it again.

If you are talking about Darksmurf's subs - or whatever dtdw made of them - I can only repeat that I have never seen them and did not use them. Of course there will be a similarity to my subs; after all, we translated the same drama!

PS: I have just downloaded and checked my own subs. There is definitely no "(txu)" or just txu in any of the files. I guess you were indeed speaking of someone else's subs. Am I right?

It would be nice if I could get a feedback from you.

its not an insult. im just stating the fact that there is similarity. more than 70% of sentences are exact match word by word, starting time and ending time of each line. im just thinking, if you really did from scratch, surely there are some differences to it ?

anyway dont get me wrong, i do not have any ill intentions whatsoever.

Kangaroo, I have downloaded the subs again and will try later tonight. It may be that VLC pulled up the DarkSmurf subs that I had in the same folder. I thought I had deleted them, but it is just as likely that I deleted the wrong ones!

What I did was a translation of the Japanese subs available here at D-Addicts. If Darksmurf did the same, that explains the identical timing (except a few corrections done by me). Likewise, short sentences should be quite the same, since every translator in this world will use almost the same words. The longer a sentence is and the more complicated, the bigger the differences should become.
Just compare a few critical parts and I'm sure you will see what I mean!

I accept your apology, but after working for weeks at this drama it's no fun to be suspected of plagiatism.

Such things just happen.

I hope - no, I'm quite sure - you will enjoy the drama now. It's really good.

Hi Kangaroo,

I deleted my first post, because I was wrong---I was watching the old incomplete DarkSmurf subs. Your new ones are good.

I can see similarities in translation, too, but as you said, you ate translating the same drama! And there are only so many ways you can translate some things!

For a drama that could be tottal goofiness and fluff, it is fairly meaty. I like it more and more. I even am starting to like Q10, and I almost forget she is a person playing a robot!![/i]

Kangaroo, thank you, thank you, SO much for picking up where GiriGiri left off. I just finished it tonight. Q10 just got better and better, and more and more interesting! You did a great job, too! I had no idea I would like this drama as much as I do when I started it.

Kangaroo. This is super awesome. Thank you so much for completing this. No clue why people are complaining. There are quite a few doramas out there that have been abandoned. I wish there were more people like you who pick up stuff and get it done. Great effort. Must be tons of work. Again Thank YOU!

To cassiopaeia again:
That's exactly what I felt too. After the first one or two episodes it was "Hm...well, okay", but it gets better and better, and I began to realize how well written and intelligent the story is. Patience pays sometimes!
