Here's my version

Postby theuncontactable » Tue Dec 06, 2011 1:36 pm

Here's my version.

I won't be continuing on with this since Egu is doing the subs.
I thought I would upload it anyway so we can compare and maybe learn from each other.
My Japanese is probably not as good as Egu's as I only study it as a hobby.

Unless you're going to use it for study or comparison, you should download Egu's version for consistency in viewing the drama.

Thanks Egu for doing the subs, I like this drama.

Hi Folks,
Thanks for your comments and encouragements. Particularly, my special thanks to "theuncontactable". I've done a comparison and mine is no comparison, your version is English mine is Japanesey English. I hope I will improve. It is like listening to your own English on a tape recorder, that's when you find out the difference., no matter how much I try I have an Australian accent now.
I see there are more Japanese Subtitles of this series at http://jpsubbers.x10.mx/Japanese-Subtitles/ but they need syncing. Can someone walk me through the procedure to sync these subs?

Thanks

Thanks for that, unfortunately aegisub crashes on my mac. But is that all I have to do with these subs, and that is to just shift the timing?

Egu:

I think you only need to time it for episode 2 only, because that sub is synch to the 450 raw and the 450 raw isn't available. I will time it for you and posted on here.

I also watched it with your subs and saw where I went wrong in the translation - that's where I tried to translate it literally or guessed from the context of the situation (lol).

Edit: oops my bad.
There's only 720 subs but it's only 50% captured but not timed - I will time that for you

Edit:
My Bad again
The version here has already been timed:

I had the older version

Hi Folks I am sorry if any one of you are waiting for episodes 2 onwards. But actually I am stuck due mainly to my inability to get them done and in need for some help. I will try to explain my current situation in the hope someone might recognize my problem and steer me in the right direction..
I downloaded [ドラマ] 俺の空 刑事編 第02話 (1280x720 x264).mp4 and Ore no Sora ep02 (1280x720 x264).jp.srt and translated it. But like before I cannot get the translated version to play on any of my players. That is VLC, Mplayer Extened, Real Player
Quicktime Player or Jubler. I can see both the video and subtitles with Subtitles theEditor. I did a resave on both Jubler and Subtitles theEditor and from a text file they both appear as a srt. File. But not luck in getting them to play video with the subtitles.
I have an additional problem in that the above subtitles end part way through of the drama. I also downloaded the current upload of subtitles but it does not sync with the 1280x720x264 video and I cannot find anywhere the 450px265 version. In addition to it not syncing it also seems to end somewhere in the middle of the video. The size of the Japanese Subtitles sort of indicate that it is not complete.
Question, If I eventually find the full subtitles, is there a way to import the work I have done into that subtitle file or do I have to one by one copy and paste the translations?
Question 2, Do you have any idea why the subs don't show up, l even sent the file to myself via email but still no luck. Is it because I am using an Apple computer?
I am afraid that the series is moving on but the translation is trailing behind. Perhaps I should give up and pass the job onto someone else. Looks like I am wasting time trying to get the subtitles viewable as the translation were finished long ago.
Any comments will be appreciated.

Can you post what you have right now so we can take a look and find out what's causing the problem?

I have has some issues with Jubler as well. The only thing I could suggest is for you to check whether your FPS is the same on the subtitle and the video (you probably have already done that, but that is all I can think about!)

The subs work in "Media Player Classic.- Home Cinema" and VLC (both on Windows, don't have a Mac here).

I did notice that some Japanese characters were left in the subs These characters are not displayed correctly in either MPC or VLC, so I figured there was an issue with the character encoding for the file. This was confirmed by Aegisub which prompted me to select a character encoding. I resaved the file using UTF-8 encoding. All characters are now displayed correctly in MPC (VLC still doesn't, but I think this is normal)

Try the attached file.

Japanese subs for episode 2 indeed end halfway through the episode. The other episodes appear to be complete: http://jpsubbers.x10.mx/Japanese-Subtit ... /OreNoSora

Timing in your partial sub for episode 2 seems to match the 720 version that I have.

Thanks for checking my upload. I downloaded the resaved version you uploaded and see the Japanese subtitles show up in addition to English when video is played with VLC on my mac, and yet when I open the same file with Textedit there are no Japanese subs. Also if I preview it with Subtitles theEditor bought from Apple the Japanese Subs do not show up.
I am totally puzzled now. It seems doing this work on a Mac is not suitable.
Unless someone can walk me through the whole procedure I had better stop until I can find out what is happening. Subtitles theEditor does not come with instructions nor a manual so I am stabbing in the dark.
I have sent queries to them via email and waiting for an answer.
Sorry folks to let you down. The series have now gone to ep 8 and catching up will be big job, so even if I resolve my problems I would probably need help in the translations to catch up.
Thanks all for your support and patience..
egu
