Synopsis: Isayama Nami, in order to start over her life and to find happiness, married the man she fell in love with at first sight during a blind date and moved to a quiet high-end residential area. Nami isn't really good with domestic chores in general, including cooking or cleaning, but she has a very strong sense of justice and it would be very ill-advised to make her angry. She was born and raised without a single relative and had to experience a harsh, suspenseful life without knowing what it means to love or be loved. By making friends with other housewives, who she occasionally saves from various predicaments with her secret fighting skills, and by cuddling close to her husband, it's the first time for Nami to experience true kindness and warmth in her life.

General Notes:
Not every "hai" (yes) or common phrase ("thanks for your hard work / otsukaresama", "thanks for the meal / itadakimasu", "much appreciated / yoroshiku onegaishimasu" and stuff) gets translated if I feel like it's not necessary. Sometimes it just feels weird for me to translate it, because there's no natural counterpart for those in English.

I've re-timed HPriest's subtitle for Episode 3 to work correctly with the 720p version.

kuroneko178 has been nice enough to do this for Episode 1-2... but apparently hasn't gotten around to Ep. 3 yet, so I thought I'd give it a try. This is my first time doing this, so if something didn't work right, my apologies, but I think it worked okay.

IMPORTANT NOTE: As I always change the filenames once they're on my computer (for myself), I've forgotten the original filename of the 720p video file for Episode 3. So, I simply named the 720-timed Ep. 3 subtitle "okusama03-720.ass". After downloading it, CHANGE THE FILENAME to match whatever the filename of the actual 720p video file is!

Edit: it was timed to the 720p raws at J-Raws (link in the top post of this thread)

(HPriest, if you want to put this up on the first post, feel free to rename it to whatever the proper name should be... hopefully someone who has the 720p version of Ep 3 will help out and post what the original video filename was)

@bakaman: I'm not entirely sure if there's an original file name. At least on my end file names end up as 'videoplayback' when I download off the site. I have to rename them. AOZ file names are formatted as "series name EP__ 720p AAC-AOZ" usually.

@ZemusDS: Right, I get the same thing ("videoplayback") but in case people were getting it from the "official" source, I didn't know what the filename was. As long as people know to change the name to match the videofile.

Three quick questions, folks:
(1) Is it just me, or are these 720s perhaps re-encoded at a lower quality? They seem to be better than the 480 version, but not anywhere near as sharp as other 720 show files (like Nigeru from a few months back). The filesizes also look smaller. Wonder if there's a place to get better quality, though if not, these are certainly good enough.

(2) It seems that NTV's dramas for years always seem to be a couple minutes longer than dramas from other networks (ie, TBS or Asahi) -- about 50mins vs 45mins. Just curious, is that due to less commercial time in the middle of the broadcasts, or does NTV start 5min before the hour (or end 5mins later)?

(3) Does anyone know how Okusama is doing in the ratings? I know there's a Japanese site somewhere (like Nielsen) that measures ratings for Japanese dramas, but I don't remember what it was. Anyone know how the ratings have been for this show? With Ayase Haruka, hopefully good...

EDIT: Well I did a bit of searching, and managed to find this site, which shows the ratings for this week: http://www.tokyohive.com/article/2017/1 ... 10-19-2017 (as well as average drama ratings for the new season if you scroll down). Looks like "Okusama" is kind of in the middle, with 11.70% average rating. Here are the per-episode ratings: (01) 11.4% – (02) 11.3% – (03) 12.4%, so at least as of Ep 3, the ratings are moving up.

(1) The AOZ rips are likely rips from VOD/streaming services with low bitrate, hence the filename. In my opinion there is no difference between an upscaled 480p JDC raw and an AOZ raw, which is why I use JDC to work with. HQ 720p often get provided by a group called DoA, but their releases are very sporadic. Just search for "AAC-DoA" on sites like nyaa or browse, for example, DramaAngel's blog.

(2) Never really bothered to think about.

(3) It's doing well. Anything above 10% is quite good nowadays, plus it's climbing, which is rare. Keep in mind, it does air at 10pm. (PS: I happen to do those ratings on tokyohive. Check the author's name. ^^)

Glad to see Okusama doing okay and gaining viewers as well.

As for the 720p, yes, you're right, it's most likely re-encoded at a lower quality. But I can't find a "true" 720 anywhere. It appears that DoA (or Dark Angel) is not releasing raws for this show. A shame, as it's a great show with a major star. The various "720p" versions out there all seem to be lower-quality (still better than 480, but not as good as true 720) -- with file sizes around 650MB range (rather than around 1GB, as would be normal for a true 720p file that size).

If anyone knows of any "true" non-re-encoded 720p versions of this show (it would have a file size of around 1GB instead of around 650MB) please let us know
