How to download subtitles / Rip Videos
Does anyone know how to download/rip subtitles from DramaFever?
I'm trying watch Prince of Lan Ling. I have the raw episodes, but I'm looking for the srt files. I have the viki Eng subs. Usually viki translate things really well, but this drama though I tried watching it with viki subs and the subtitles are a jumbled mess. It's almost like it was machine translated.

Thank you. I'm very familiar with Eunji's pastebin links. That was the first place I checked. But the drama that I'm looking for is "Prince of Lan Ling." It's a Chinese historical drama. I'm usually not a Chinese drama fan, but this particular drama looked interesting. I was able to find viki's subtitles, but unfortunately it's not translated very well and is hard to understand.Maysn wrote:Here you can find a list with all their subs:
Just search for the drama you want and copy the link that will direct you to the download.
Someone out there knows how to rip the subs otherwise we wouldn't have all those dramas with Eng subs by DramaFever. I just wish I can find out how.

Where'd the pop-out subtitles option go?

We are working to bring this feature back to the site for a future update. We hope to make it available in the coming weeks!

If I'm going to spend hours trying to get the English srt of one episode of "Lan Ling Wang," I might as well just watch it on DramaFever.
I know that there are some genius person out there ripping subs from DramaFever because 1n2d (and other shows) subs are posted on that pastebin link as soon as DramaFever releases them. That's what I would like to find out; how they rip these subs.
You can try to ask Eunji nicely and politely. Maybe you'll get to know the tricks.spn_1109 wrote: This isn't really what I'm looking for, but thanks anyway.

I don't care if you're waiting for subtitles of your favorite show so don't msg me about it. kthx
One of the twitter accounts got suspended earlier, so don't make it any worse.
If you have the time to kill, read this interesting blog from Ethlenn
Hopefully, you can understand.
Actually, yesterday after I had posted the other message. I went to Eunji's twitter page and sent her a message about it. All of the shows/dramas I watch, I've been downloading them from Eunji. And yes, I was afraid to ask her for subtitles since she clearly stated on her twitter page "I don't care if you're waiting for subtitles of your favorite show so don't msg me about it." But I checked back at her twitter page today and she was kind enough to post all the sub files for Lan Ling Wang. I'm very excited to finally be able to watch this drama.y0ssy wrote: You can try to ask Eunji nicely and politely. Maybe you'll get to know the tricks.

How to download drama from d-addicts.com:
1. You need to have any torrent program to download the drama from this website (mostly people using utorrent)
2. After installing torrent program, you can visit d-addicts torrent and find the drama by typing in the search torrent box
3. After you see the drama in the torrent list, you just need to click the arrow down button on the right side (usually the green arrow is always working). This will download .torrent file.
4. Then, you just need to open .torrent file using the torrent program you installed before and wait until it's start downloading Smile
5. After the download progress reached 100%, you may need to download the english subtitle from the subtitle index on the top left menu box and find the drama title. (If the drama don't have subtitles)
6. Last thing, you need to open the video and import the subtitle you got before.
Hopefully that helps
For more details information, you can have a look click here
As for me, I prefer d-addicts torrent than streaming site

Download the corresponding time text xml files (with the dfxp extension) http://www.dramafever.com/st/subtitle/3875_1_en.dfxp (change the 1 to 2 etc).
Rename each of them as an xml file.
Use http://subtitleconverter.net/ then upload each file and select TTML (.xml files). Save the output as srt and click convert.
If you want to keep some of the formatting intact (e.g. italic tags), you will need to replace the <i> and </i> in the xml to something else beforehand.
Easy thing is to use notepad and replace <i> with (i) and </i> with (/i), and then replace it again later with the correct tags in the srt file.
If there are special formatting (e.g. span tags), you will have to edit the srt file manually, given the online converter doesn't handle the formatting or italic tags.

Thank you so much huyie!
I appreciate the detailed guide/instructions that you have given.
Can I assume if I want Doctor Stranger(4449) Subs from Dramafever, I can just replace number 3875 for Secret Garden with Doctor Stranger's number (4449)?
Also so you also experience a decent lagging time during cpnversion from subtitle converter like i do?

Sometimes the location and naming convention of the subtitles means you can't just replace the number (e.g. when there has been a revision in the subtitles and may be in a different format (e.g. directly as an xml file or even srt file)).
Depending on what browser you use, you can locate the xml/dfxp file by:
In Chrome press Ctrl+Shift+I then select the Network tab, and find the dfxp file that way (use the example towards the end of the http://www.ancientchinese.net/index.php ... opic=412.0 Viki tutorial, but load it when you click the Pop Up Subtitles)
If the Pop Up button isn't showing, you should be able to get to it directly using http://www.dramafever.com/drama/4449/1/subtitles/ (replace 4449 with the corresponding drama number, and 1 with the corresponding episode number).
For Internet Explorer, press F12, and do a similar method.
Yes, the conversion site lags, as it is java based, and sometimes prone to errors, but this method means you won't need to install anything further to convert it.

Hmm.. I get the following on some pages (eg. 4500) do you know why?huyie wrote:Download the corresponding time text xml files (with the dfxp extension) http://www.dramafever.com/st/subtitle/3875_1_en.dfxp (change the 1 to 2 etc).
Rename each of them as an xml file.
This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

</Error>
The error is because the location of the dfxp file doesn't actually exist at that location. (likely in a completely different folder, and with a different naming convention).
e.g. for Ice Adonis/Yellow Boots, it's a mixture of http://www.dramafever.com/st/subtitle/I ... _52_CK.xml, http://www.dramafever.com/st/subtitle/4138_12_en_1.dfxp, and http://www.dramafever.com/st/subtitle/4138_11_en_2.dfxp)
You will need to locate where actually exists, using the Network feature in Chrome, or Developer Tools in Internet Explorer.
If you did it correctly and pressed Ctrl+Shift+I, F12 or whatever it is in your browser for the http://www.dramafever.com/drama/4500/1/subtitles/ page, you would have been able to locate either two links, one saying something like ?format=dfxp&file_format=dfxp which is a link redirecting to the subtitle, and the other, which would be the loaded subtitle file itself (in this case http://www.dramafever.com/st/subtitle/4500_1_en.xml)

It looks like someone wrote a useful guide recently for Firefox users here (in Italian): http://haneulcorea.blogspot.com/2014/06 ... fever.html
If you have trouble finding links with the Pop Up Subtitles method, you should still be able to get them by enabling the CC as depicted.
It does mention to use Subtitle Edit to do the conversion though, which is something I would highly avoid at present. There appears to be a bug with it not handling the millisecond conversion correctly (you'll see in the guide it tends to add 999 for the millisecond column instead).
BatchSubtitlesConverter has the exact same problem, as it uses code from Subtitle Edit.
You should still use Subtitle Edit to do any post subtitle processing though, since it does auto breaking (Auto Br) of long lines, and changing speed of the subtitles, as would occur with mismatched frame rates.
N.B. You don't need to rename the dfxp file to xml, as long as you select the TTML (.xml files) option, it will recognise it.

I don't have any problems with the conversion for MLSS , so not sure where your problems lies.
You could always try running the conversion from the command line, using the source code from either https://github.com/hubwub/PyXMLtoSRT or https://github.com/JDaren/subtitleConverter

If you know how to get Python 2.7.x running, someone has implemented a simple script to handle it here:

Don't use Python 3x though, given the dependancies.

How to download kdrama.com subtitles / Rip Videos
Hi, did anyone know how to rip subtitles from kdrama.com (crunchyroll sister site)? I know how to get subs/ video from crunchyroll (mainly for anime and jdramas) using this method: http://www.darkztar.com/forum/showthrea ... riendly%29. But since they started streaming the korean drama separately on kdrama.com, I'm still trying to figure out how to rip their subs.
P/S: I know kingofbeer site did the subtitle ripping from this site and I did try to ask him/her the way and nope she/he didn't reply my message. I want to rip few subs for dramas that aren't available in KOB's pastebin.
Hopefully someone knew the answer^^ Thanks in advance.

From the link you provided, you need to modify all the python scripts that contain the term crunchyroll.com and change it to kdrama.com for it to work, as it uses the same decryption algorithm..
If it's just the subtitles you are after though, then use http://www.general-files.org/download/g ... r.zip.html# instead.

thanx huyie for the answer. but can you help me on that. I've tried but not working. i suspect I've done something wrong with the script since it's my first time editing a script.huyie wrote:From the link you provided, you need to modify all the python scripts that contain the term crunchyroll.com and change it to kdrama.com for it to work, as it uses the same decryption algorithm..

You need to get the subs from the pop up subtitle window, not the video itself.
e.g press Ctrl+Shift+I in Chrome for the http://www.dramafever.com/drama/4480/18/subtitles/ window.
There's basically two sides to the subs on DramaFever.
Firstly, when they get initially released, that are made compatible with their own player, and later on, there are another set of subs, made to work with the Hulu side of things, which are encrypted at this point.
If you still have trouble, just go to http://www.vikisubtitle.com/

Re: How to download subtitles / Rip Videos
does anyone know how to download or rip subtitles from soompi tv i'm new to this n i really like their subs but can't find a way please help!!!
Re: How to download subtitles / Rip Videos
Info from here is probably more useful: http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/3685 ... m-soompitv
Make sure you have Python 2.7.X installed, and use the crunchy-xml-decoder version that doesn't have the proxy and video downloader in it to avoid trouble. (Link located somewhere in this thread above, when it was previously called kdrama.com). You also need to find the config.xml files (using the Network feature in Chrome, or Developer Tools in Internet Explorer, or whatever your browser uses), which contain the IV subtitle keys needing to be decrypted. When you find where the config.xml file is stored, you can just replace the video id to get the rest of the episodes
e.g.
Also best to replace the crunchyDec.py script, otherwise you will encounter an error with the generated ass file.
Note that for some of the older series, the subs are actually hardsubbed onto the video itself, so therefore can't be ripped. For all newer content, there shouldn't be a problem.
If you have trouble, let me know, as I may have already ripped it.

Re: How to download subtitles / Rip Videos
For some reason, it looks likes your python version doesn't want to write the subtitle file as UTF-8 which is causing the error.
Are you sure you closed the " " after the -o flag? (even though I doubt that would affect anything)
Check the particular line, mine has print("Series: %s, %s" % (series["name"].encode("utf-8"), series["native_lang_title"].encode("utf-8"))) in the dfrip.py file, but it's on line 99, so perhaps something is slightly different in your dfrip.py file.
It's also best to add python as an environmental variable.
I've added the one I slightly modified (basically forced it to save as srt by default), but besides that, I doubt anything else is different.

VIU.COM and Download subs from it..
Does anyone here know how to download subs from new website viu.com?
Re: VIU.COM and Download subs from it..
If using Chrome, bring up Developer Tools (Ctrl+Shift+I or F12)
Click Network tab
Subtitles only loads once video loads
Subtitles are loaded as XHR, so instead of All, click XHR to reduce the list
Use the Filter term cloudfront
You should then see a 40 bit hexadecimal file, which happens to the the subtitle file,
which you can then download and save as a srt file

Re: VIU.COM and Download subs from it..
Cloudfront.net is just a storage service they use to store stuff, in this case, mostly graphics, icons and also subtitles.
The Network tab in the Developer Tools feature of a browser displays whatever is needed by a site to load, including videos it may load, the images used by the site, other external webpages the site may need to load and other things required for the site to be displayed correctly.
If you don't use filter term, it might be hard to spot where the subtitles are, once they get loaded. Searching using a filter term just narrows down that possibility.
Using an example, Beautiful You E40 subs are stored here: http://d2anahhhmp1ffz.cloudfront.net/82 ... d428f2ca74
As you can see, the file name (544d71a6b56d07dc2aa62747474514d428f2ca74) uses a 40 bit hexadecimal, and there is no subtitle extension (srt, ass, smi) with it, so just seeing a filename like that load probably means nothing to most users. You should be able to click it in the Network tab, to view it, and then save it as whatever you want.
There's a video here which pretty much does the same thing, and explains the end result better. http://webm.host/c3a77/vid.webm
I just prefer to get the subtitles as it load the first time along with the video, rather than pause the video, bring up Inspect feature, and follow instructions like that video by reloading the subtitles again, as it just means it takes a little bit longer to get the subtitles.

Download problems
Hi!
I've had a problem since idk... yesterday!? If I download any file (srt; zip; rar) from D-A Subtitles Forum and I try to open it, it seems to be invalid. I've discussed it with some other users and they've had the same problem. Does anybody know when it will be fixed because it’s very annoying, we can’t download subtitles at all.
Thank you forward for any help!!!

Re: How to download subtitles / Rip Videos
Best to toggle on/off the English subtitles, as it will be the last thing to get reloaded on that list.
Re: How to download subtitles / Rip Videos
You can use Allavsoft to download subtitles from Viki or download Viki video with preferable subtitles.
Re: How to download subtitles / Rip Videos
You can download subtitles from viki and viu on http://www.lilsubs.com and then use subtitle workshop to synch them with the video.
