[Discussion] Natsu no Koi wa Niji-iro ni Kagayaku
Finally the FujiTV Summer Getsuku was announced!!!
Starting July, FujiTV Mondays 9 PM slot (Tsuki no Koibito slot) will air "Natsu no Koi wa Niji-iro ni Kagayaku" (Summer Love Shines in Rainbow Color), starring Matsumoto Jun (ARASHI) and Takeuchi Yuko.
Original script written by Oomori Mika, who has written Fukigen na Gene, MY BOSS MY HERO and Buzzer Beat. Directed by Sawada Kensaku (Fukigen na Gene, PRIDE, Koi ni Ochitara) and Kohara Kazutaka (Majo Saiban).
Jun will play Taiga, a not-so-popular second-generation actor. His father was a very popular actor in his time. But Taiga, only get to appear in variety shows, most of the time. He's a tsundere type of guy, which means, being on the surface sharp and sarcastic (tsuntsun) but underneath lovestruck and fawning (deredere); characteristic of a gap between acted out actions and feelings in mind; normally being sharp but at some prompt suddenly becoming lovestruck; hot-cold personality type.
One day when his friend bring him out for a skydiving, a big wind dragged him further apart from the dropping point and he got stuck on the trees. That's when a beautiful woman, Shiori (Takeuchi Yuko), came to help him. Shiori is a very cheerful woman who laughs away all problems/worries she has, exactly the opposite with Taiga. Shiori is the kind of person who never worry about details.
It's a love story that suits best for summer.

thanks for starting a thread for this drama ^^
here is the same news but from tokyograph
Jun Matsumoto, Yuko Takeuchi star in next "Getsu 9" drama
It has been confirmed that Arashi's Jun Matsumoto (26) will star in Fuji TV's Monday night drama series next season. He will be the first member of the group to appear in a drama during that time slot, and this will be his first lead role in a full-length Fuji TV series.
The drama, titled "Natsu no Koi wa Nijiiro ni Kagayaku," is an original love story by "Buzzer Beat" screenwriter Mika Omori. The female lead is being played by Yuko Takeuchi (30), who starred in "Lunch Queen" and "Fukigen na Gene," both also written by Omori.
In the show, Matsumoto plays a struggling actor who has developed a complex due to his father, a famous actor. The character is described as being "tsundere," a term referring to people who are normally cold in personality but become overly fawning when they are around their love interest. In this case, that love interest is an older woman being played by Takeuchi, whose character is said to be spirited, but also mysterious due to certain circumstances.
"Natsu no Koi wa Nijiiro ni Kagayaku" will air Monday nights at 9:00pm, starting in July.

btw, she's Nino's ideal type of woman ^^
“Hardworking Girls are Cute, ne”

“Hardworking Girls are Cute, ne”
Translated by jyagaimo from the Feb 2010 issue of Popolo
Ninomiya: If we're talking about people we like, I guess it'd have to be Takeuchi Yuko.
Aiba: You've always been saying that since quite a while back (laugh). For sure, her smile is really pretty ne.
Ninomiya: Right. But the part I like the best is...
Aiba: What?
Ninomiya: Her timeless acting.
Aiba: That's about her as an actress! If you're gonna say that, then I'll say one too. Vivian Hsu. I saw her on TV when I was a middle schooler and thought she was cute.
Ninomiya: The thing those two people have in common is...?
Aiba: Isn't that kind of forced (laugh)?
Ninomiya: Their cheerfulness or something? Still, in the end, I do like a cheerful person.
And in another interview:
"In the entertainment world, there's my ideal type of woman."
Translated by yanie02 from The Sunday NEXT November 1, 2009
Nino: For me, it's Takeuchi Yuko-san desu ne.
Tokumitsu: You've never met her?
Nino: I have, I have. It was in a special program, where I had a match against her team.
Tokumitsu: That must be not the kind of meeting you'd like to have with her, ne?
Nino: Sou nan desu yo ne, but somehow I feel that this sense of distance is very good for me. Probably, if I have the chance to co-star with her, I might see various unexpected sides of her. I don't want to get to see that much. This distance is the best already. Just looking at her on magazines and TV are enough for me.
Jun: A name didn't immediately come on to my mind, but there's this woman I like since long ago. But she has gotten married na...
Tokumitsu: Did you feel upset when she got married?
Jun: A bit, I did think "Congratulations"...
(somehow Jun got embarrassed himself. the other says, "He's serious!!")
Jun: It's Matsu Takako-san. I like Matsu-san. I like how she's a low-profile person.

Man, I read everywhere that Yuko will play older woman. I read somewhere the age of 38 years, but I can't believe they make her that old, actually.
I have nothing against it^^
Translated from Fuji TV website:
Summer Love Shines in Rainbow
New Monday drama of Matsumoto Jun confirmed!
Leading lady: Takeuchi Yuko!
This summer Matsumoto Jun will have romance with an older lady!
Beginning: July, Monday, 21:00
It has been confirmed that member of super popular idol group Arashi, Matsumoto Jun (26), will appear in new drama in July. Matsumoto participates in different genres of entertainment: dramas, variety, music, movies, CMs. He appeared this year in Fuji TV Special drama “Saigo no Yakusoku”, in April - “Wagaya no Rekishi” broadcasted to celebrate 50 years of Fuji TV, but it’s the first time being a part of Monday9 drama, and renzoku, to just add.
The leading lady is Takeuchi Yuko (30), known for her translucent beauty and versatile performances. Up till this moment she is known from such works as: “ Pride”, “Lunch no Joou”, “Fugiken na gene”, “Bara no nai hanaya”, and has appeared in Monday9 dramas few times.
Title of the drama: Summer Love Shines in Rainbow.
Matsumoto plays a man troubled with some inferiority complex toward his father – a great actor, and being an actor himself in a second generation, he isn’t very popular. This is the story of love between such a man and troubled woman (Takeuchi). Wanting to be perceived in a pure way, both in work and love, and feeling fed up with jokes about “parental influence”, but…
This is some refreshing love story between the man who realizes his own vanity and the woman who can keep up cheerful mood even in hard times. Story that portrays encounter of such people, struggling in both love and work.
Matsumoto will fall in love instantly with the woman he meets. All hearts will surely skip a bit seeing this!
Thanks to Matsumoto who will embellish Monday9 drama, and new pair Matsumoto JunxTakeuchi Yuko, it will be a gust of fresh wind to Monday9 Fuji TV.
Storyline:
Kusu Taiga (MJ) is the second son of a famous actor Kusu Sentarō and he chose the same actor’s path as his father. Nevertheless, he’s nowhere near his father and now makes appearances in different variety shows. Being called from his childhood “Kusu Sentarō’s kid”, and labeled with “parental influence”, he came to the point of feeling uncertain about his own identity. His relationships were short-lived because he was even bothered by the way a girl holds her chopsticks.
One day with friend, another second generation actor, Keita, they go skydiving. Suddenly Taiga loses control over a parachute and is carried away from the drop point. In this way he ends up being immobilized on the tree in some forest close to the sea. To make things worse, a woman appears…
Commentary from Matsumoto Jun:
“I think Takeuchi Yuko is a very talented actress. I am happy for the possibility of joining. I’ve been watching Monday9 since I was a kid, so I think it’s an honor to be offered to appear in Fuji TV Monday9. Even though there will be pressure, I will try to give my best. As the whole staff we will try to deliver to all of you this summer “dokidoki wakuwaku” love story!"
Commentary from Takeuchi Yuko:
I intended to follow sincerity and hopefulness as Matsumoto san expressed at the beginning. I feel grateful for the first possibility of working together. Also, expectations towards the script of Omori san on how the story unfolds will swell out.
Commentary from Fuji TV Producer Misao Reiko:
Taiga may seem to be a selfish person, but in fact he’s very timid. I thought that, ultimately, he’s a character that viewers can sympathize with all because of Matsumoto san ability to be cool and at the same time to tickle woman’s feelings.
Shiori, although very bright character, can also be harsh, but in overall she’s standing firmly on the ground. I wanted Takeuchi to play that part because she is popular among the women, and has some cuteness in her not only beauty.
The meeting of Taiga and Shiori is one of the highlights.
Apparently cold man and cheerful woman. I think every week will be pleasant.
Please expect for two of them to feel twinges every time. I think we can send refreshing best love story in summer.
Support love of Taiga and Shiori watching it this summer on your TV.
dokidoki: onomatopeic word describing heart condition when one is stressed or in fear,
wakuwaku: onomatopeic word describing shivering, to be nervous, excited

Takeuchi Yuuko wasn't there. No other big name cast either.
.. and really, all I could say is that it's a red carpet event where Itou-san, Matsuzaka-san, and *very hot* Jun got out of a black car and walked on the carpet. Because that's the only scene that was *repeatedly* rehearsed and filmed that day. xD

So i heard the pilot got 15.7% ratings. Pretty average but a bit underwhelming respond for a Getsu9. Summer really bad for ratings. The rest of the dramas this season had pretty average ratings as well despite being really awesome so far. NatsuNiji plot pales in comparison to other dramas this season. Good Luck Jun.
Haven't watched it yet but to those who have, reviews please?

Rumors says the atmosphere of the filming set has becoming gloomy due to the ratings, and that it has become a taboo for staff to talk abt the ratings at all Plus there's a rumor that Jun-Yuko doesn't talk much on the set, during filming breaks Yuko would immediately enter her changing room, and Jun didn't make an effort to try to talk to her either. The staff is currently trying to change this and trying to make the atmosphere on the set merrier and fun.
Due to the low ratings too, there's a rumor, that they will bring in more naked-Jun scenes in the drama in the hope that it will increase the ratings

to me it was a shock because my idea of "boring" doesn't match Natsuniji at all!
It was fun and entertaining, with good characters and script (and I was worried because I wasn't able to like the previous Omori Mika's work because of the script), I hadn't a single moment of peace while watching and I didn't felt the time running on me... for a whole hour o_O
Rumors run really fast it seems o_O

i am really shock to heard the bad rating of ep2:(
i thought it would only decrease a little bit but not this much 0_o
this is really bad for a Monday drama because this is one of the lowest rating ever and would definitely harm Jun reputation:(
i really like this drama so far and there is no boring moment...
so can't really understand why Japanese people don't like the drama^^;
awwwwwww i really hope the rumor is untrue:(
Jun have always been very friendly and nice to all his co-star and staff so it hard for me to believe he don't even try to talk to her at all^^;
well he is the type that took a long time to recover from shock, so he might show a bad mood at set and affecting his work....
he have been in such happy mood before the drama start so i am a little worried to see him being moody again:(
though i hope everyone would still have fun while filming because working with negative atmosphere would only making things worse especially Jun and Yuko is playing love interest and they show such great chemistry already it would be such a pity if their chemistry is affected because of off-screen feud:(
anyway i am hoping next ep would be more interesting and more fans would show support to this drama^^

aww.. this is worrying. i have a feeling Jun seems nervous around Yuko. I think this is the first character that's not gimmicky played by Jun. Taiga is pretty much a normal guy and a lot of his traits overlaps with Jun's real personality. It would be very difficult to break out of character. I hope they are doing fine and it's just rumors. Jun should bake her a cake or something.yanie wrote:Rumors says the atmosphere of the filming set has becoming gloomy due to the ratings, and that it has become a taboo for staff to talk abt the ratings at all Plus there's a rumor that Jun-Yuko doesn't talk much on the set, during filming breaks Yuko would immediately enter her changing room, and Jun didn't make an effort to try to talk to her either. Nakedness? just cheapens the production if they really go for it... but i would end up enjoying it nonetheless.
Is it just me or does it feels weird that Taiga is practicing tongue twisters and voice projection? Its not like the guy just started becoming an actor..

to me it's fine. It's a proof he wants to improve, and in order to improve you need to work on yourself without forgetting bases... also, he has a fixation on tecnique, asvwe learnt from the very start of the story, so that choice is totally in character for someone like Taiga ^_^brokenparadise wrote:Is it just me or does it feels weird that Taiga is practicing tongue twisters and voice projection? Its not like the guy just started becoming an actor..
sadly it seems they wont release to general public anymorenikkibell84 wrote:chckboy5 wrote:where can we get the hardsubbed version?
I think it's only on their LJ and website right now. But, they usually release it to everyone else (whose not a member of their LJ or website) within a week or two - I think.
Yeah.. I kinda find it boring too. I dunno, I don't really find anything special about it, nor am I a big Jun fan anyway. Not into the whole "love at first sight" which seems to be in almost every j-drama anyways >_> And I was NOT a fan of those Michael Jackson shades he had on before the award thingy ew >_<
But yeah.... I'm like halfway in episode one, and it's just boring. People say "oh watch a few episodes and you'll get into or like it more," but they only say that because they like it themselves (and could also be a big Jun fan anyway.) Like I'm not gonna think a show is good because it has a particular actor in it. (like I stopped watching Mioka and I love the cast... just the plot was too typical and cheesey to me and predictable) Oh! But I did like it when Jun took off his hat when he met her the second time. Very gentleman-like ^_^

Watched ep.3 and I still like it. It's maybe a bit too calm and slow and people might have expected a more colourful show with more tension for a summer love story. So far it's more about unrequitted love and a guy who's yet too immature. Still, the chemistry is not bad and there are notions of interesting subplots and I think the ratings be going up again.
I also think Nagayama Kento should get more screen time!!

it's hard to compare between these two dramas.. some might found Tsuki no Koibito boring because Kimura was busy dealing with his business & company.. while NatsuNiji is about the NEET Taiga who has lots of free time on his hands! lol jktotemokakkoii wrote: as for the storyline, i think it is passable. i personally think one of the drama last season (the one about the moon....yes... that one...) was more boring...

how many episodes have you seen?
I'm rooting for Shiori the most, because the two of them match very well.
Plus, as he said to Daiki in episode 4,
Sakura is cute but
After episode 5 and the plus in episode 6 and I don't like this idea at all... because I think she's interesting and the fact she's an actress with issues like Taiga can help him in his way to become something respectable in the acting world.
