Oil Shock: Rapid rise in the price of crude oil, the first great oil shock occurring in 1973.
Nixon Shock: August 15, 1971, Nixon unilaterally imposed 90-day wage and price controls, a 10% import surcharge, and most importantly "closed the gold window", making the dollar in-convertible to gold directly, except on the open market. Unusually, this decision was made without consulting members of the international monetary system or even his own State Department, and was soon dubbed the "Nixon Shock".

Possibly a codec problem. You should check to make sure you have the latest codecs installed. I would suggest getting a codec pack, it is easier than trying to find the exact codec that you need for video and/or audio.
This website has plenty to choose from:

Personally, I go with CCCP Codec pack because I like the East European feel ;-)

Thanks for subbing Fumo Chitai! Really enjoyed the first episode!

I installed CCCP but I still get the same problem. Oh well...Thanks anyway. I guess I'll wait until someone posts it in youtube.

i really want to send my appreciation to Chuks for subbing this series. I loved Shiroi Kyoto and the brilliant Karasawa Toshiaki, but I probably wouldn't be able to catch up enough to understand this series without your subs. Thank you very much!!!

I, too, want to voice my thanks. My wife is Japanese, and we watched Shiroi Kyoto and Karei naru Ichizoku together. I find these adaptations of Yamazaki Toyoko's novels fascinating, a kind of drama you'd almost never find on American TV (maybe The Wire or Deadwood are somewhat comparable). Subs are excellent, obviously a labor of love. Sometimes amateur efforts are so superior to the "pros."
Thanks again. Eagerly awaiting Episode 3 subs. Tried viewing it raw and it was just too much technical vocabulary for me.

Thank you for the support, guys.
Seeing those posts motivates me more!
As jmr1948 said, it is a labor of love!
Even though I’m Japanese, there are many words I didn’t understand initially so I had to look them up online.
I even asked my father who was born around the end of the war to explain what was going on at the time.
That’s why it takes long time to release the sub, but thanks for being patient.
I’ve heard of The Wire and Deadwood, but I haven’t watched either.
I like Band of Brothers, and I know it’s irrelevant, but I love Dexter! :p

Chuks - your 'labor of love' is testament to the excellent work you've produced. The quality is A+++. Your 'Made in Japan' subs will shame the likes of professional subbers/translators - so please don't rush. I can see through your subs how you are not compromising quality for mediocrity. It is really a joy, indeed. Thanks again.

many many thanks for your hard efforts !!
once there is quality we don't mind to wait ;)
Thank you for subbing this great Drama, and also for doing at a very high quality and also quickly. Only 2 episodes into this Drama I am totally addicted to see how the story continues. I am a bit older, so of course I am very happy someone is subbing this "otona" drama. After watching too many "Yamapi" dramas, I was really looking for something with more substance, and Fumo Chitai is delivering it in a big way!
I also saw Shiroi Kyoto and Karei naru Ichizoku and liked both, but I haven't so far seen Daichi no Ko which somehow was never available here. Maybe someone can give me a hint where to get it?
In any case, Chuks, please keep up the good work. I can't wait to see EP3. Your subs are among the best I've ever read and I know the vocabulary in these Yamazaki dramas is quite hard.

Subs for ep03 is up.
I had a busy week, so it took more than I wanted.
katsukare, I looked for Daichi no Ko before, but I couldn't find it. Too bad. :(
Hopefully somebody finds it.
The main actor (Kamikawa Takaya) did a great job even though that was his first drama as a main cast.
He became recognized thanks to the drama.
He played the lawyer on Shiroi Kyoto.

Drazic wrote:This drama started out a bit boring but ep 3 was awesome.
A friend of mine used the same words -in the first part, "awfully" instead of "a bit"-. I kicked her ass but she didn't keep watching it (for this genre of drama it's quite comprehensible -and it's very difficult to convince someone to see an "intrallazzi"-based fiction, "intrallazzi" means intrigues in italian). In my opinion, it started with a good premise and some naivities (I don't know if this term can describe two or three scenes from the 1st episode -for example, the zoom on Iki's face when the Russian officer annunced him the death\suicide of Akitsu), but I really expect that the struggle between Iki and Samejima will have a boom as amazing as the one in Shiroi Kyoto (Satomi vs Zaizen).
Chucks, thanks a lot for your work. I just finished the 3rd episode. Sorry for my terrible english. おめでとうございます。
