Wow....simply wow. Dubai is such an amazing place judging by these photos. :-)

I love how the architechture mixes the classical maroccan? (Feel free to correct me) feel with modern scyscrapers and whatnot. I remember seeing a documentary a while back on Discovery, and I must admit I am completely speechless.

your partially right there is a morrocan theme in much of the architecture but as well it has been mixed with the local and traditional architecture ..
i guess dubai has a little bit of everything asian - arab- islamic architecture- european- it's like a portrait of the world ... :lol

I have to admitt, it looks gorgeous...i love the architecture...who ever the architects are are, amazing...ANYWAYS i am not surprised that Dubai looks like that..I mean common...all that oil and money...and such a tinny country....why shouldn't it look like that..If i was a country and i had that money...oh boy...my country would jus be amazing...I would build the most high tech. most amazing buildings//skyscrapes man has seen.... HONEY IT"S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY......AND GOVERNMENT! Especially when it comes to middle eastern country...I my self am from Northern, Iraq. Iraq is filthy rich, but because of the government,....we don't have crap like that.. don't really mean crap! LOL...well anyways good for Dubai...they should keep it up, and show the world, that even though they are a muslim country they can just be as good or even better than western countries....lol I live in the US! hehehehhe

This is great stuff. Been through the DXB four times already but never leave the airport. This makes me want to get lost in the city. Great stuff.

How about the other states in UAE? Abu Dhabi and Ajman look good also IMHO.

Glad to see that so many people know a lot about Dubai because I've got a question. I've got a job offer for Dubai for March 09. My biggest problem is the search for accomodation. I tried my luck on the web but all I could find about Dubai property was this and it's not very satisfying. So if anyone can tell me something about the housing market in Dubai I would be more than thankful.

first of all congratulations on the job offer .. from the sounds of it accomodation wasn't included in the package .. do you have a certain budget .. are you looking for an apartment or a house .. which part of dubai .. because the price would vary according to the area .. if accomodation is included in the package then most probably the company has a certain budget or price range allocated for the accomodation .. i'll try my best to help you out .. awaiting your reply

Thank you, I'm rather looking for an appartment and as soon as I know some prices, I would adjust my budget accordingly.

abu dhabi >> dubai ∵ it has a lot less kufr.

I wouldn't be so proud about those towers though...not with the hadith they're mentioned in.

UAE is a really beautiful place though. I hope they have jobs for electrical engineers =P. I'm hoping for either UAE or Malaysia.

Hi, :-)
I didn't understand what you mean ??
what do you mean by they don't like to speak Arabic ? and who are they exactly ?
if they were Indians or from other countries, of course they can't speak Arabic!!
if they are from the UAE they will probably speak in Arabic once they find that you're Arabic !

Hi again..
if what I understood is correct, then you mean that they treated you badly + talked to you in English although they're from the UAE!
hmm sorry to know that this happened to you, but there is nothing perfect in this world!
some of the UAE people might prefer talking in English, but at the same time there are still people who love the Arabic Language and treasure it so much!

The skyscraper, now the world's tallest building, soars a half mile into the air, can be seen from 59 miles away and has 160 floors.

"Burj Khalifa:
That is the new name for Burj Dubai, the world's tallest tower, which officially opened today, Jan. 4, 2010.
Burj Khalifa, which translates to the Khalifa Tower, is named after UAE President Khalifa Bin Zayed.
The renaming of the 828-meter structure came as a surprise for many, as it had always been referred to as Burj Dubai."

My cousin just came home from Dubai last week. I was so jealous because he and his girlfriend took pictures of themselves inside the Burj Al Arab. And a picture outside Burj Khalifa.

Al Zahra street is the one in Sharjah, right? well of course the distance varies depending on the road taken, around 14-25 kilometers i would say. However, It's hard to find a cheap apt. in this area as far as i know!
