I need a little help when it comes to determine codecs of videos when using MediaInfo.

What should I use when writing out codecs in file names?

Codec ID: AVC1
or
Writing library: x264

AVC means the same thing as H264 (the standard has two names for some reason).
People who put the video codec in the filename would usually write x264(which is the program used to encode H264 videos) or H264 for those files.
I think x264 is more common.

You can use gspot ( A utility for identifying codecs)
