Dear,
I have two .srt files - see attached.
For the one file, the subtitels are read correctly by VLC player.
For the other file, the subtitels are read incorrectly bij VLC player, cause each line is read as a subtitle, so VLC displays the timings as well.
However both files seem to have the same formatting (just translated). What should I do to have the subtitels read correctly?
I would be really greatful to receive help!
Both have following text order:
incorrectly read (bottom one translated via google translate):
3
00:02:39,220 -> 00:02:42,018
Parlant d'eux,
Etes-vous tubercules poruÅ0á9ila?
correctly read
3
00:02:39,220 --> 00:02:42,018
Kad smo kod istih,
jesi li poruËila gomoljike?
incorrect format?
incorrect format?

Two issues with the second file.
First - all the line breaks are corrupted (use NotePad to open and compare them)
Second - all the arrows are short of a dash "-" (should look like this "-->", not "->")
You'll have to realign the second file manually to match the format exactly as in your first file.
Like this..
1
00:01:03,580 --> 00:01:07,095
Amis en vacances
2
00:02:31,420 --> 00:02:35,857

they don't have the same format at all. If you try to open them with notepad, you'll see they're completely different. I don't have much experience but to me it looks like the file was saved in another format then renamed to srt. Do you know what software was used to create it? try to open the file with the same software and save it again to srt or export it to another format, then open this new format with subtitle workshop or similar and save it to srt.
