Hello
I want to extract subtitle from a hardsubbed video.
I checked some threads (a, b) and found some programms for windows (suprip, AviSubDetector). they dont work for me.
Does anyone know where to look for a programm under linux (ubuntu)?
The hardsubbed video has higher resolution, but poor picture quality.
how to make softsubs from hardsub avi under linux?

The Linux programs I know only do OCR on DVD subtitles, not directly from videos. Running AVISubDetect in wine fails when opening a video (after installing codec stuff with winetricks, the codec seems to crash). The AVISubDetect source is available at http://web.archive.org/web/200710311111 ... tector.htm (not the most recent version though) but in Delphi/Pascal, no idea if that can easily be ported to Linux (probably not).
Thank you for the reply.
AVISubDetect crashed under wine. SubRip seek for AviSynth. I see some linux-tools for VOB -> srt, but none for hardsubbed video.
Thanks for the link, must check the needed components for it.
Normally I don't use my computer for manipulating images/videos, so i am new with this tools and the tool-chain.
Maybe i will take the timing from a korean SMI-file and type the subtitles from video output.

The subtitle for Oda Nobunaga is finished.
At the moment I'm typing off the subs for Risou no Kekkon.
The source VHSrip have bad quality. I got it with an ocr subtitle, but 1/3 of all lines are crap. Many multiple nonsense lines.
I think my virtual XP should still work and I can give it a try on the next sub.
Thanks for the reply.
