If you like gangster movies, then you will love "A Dirty Carnival." It's depiction of Korean gangs is as realistic as it gets. I did not expect such realistic portrayal from Korean movies until I saw this one. Rather violent, so be warned.

The Bow was a beautiful movie indeed. I think it was produced by a Japanese company/people and definitely had Japanese flavor to it.

Favorites would be:

My Sassy Girl
A Tale of Two Sisters
Spider Forest

The pacing of these 3 movies tend to be a bit slow, but definitely the best storyline of all Korean movies I've seen so far, where even after the credits have rolled, you just sit there in awe, pondering about things that happened throughout the movie.

Worst:

Duelist

Probably the only bad Korean film I've seen so far. Actually, it wasn't that bad .... it was TERRIBLE. I can't imagine anyone who could possibly enjoy it unless they're a Benny Hill fan or 9 years old. Or both.

Any new classics from the past 3-6 months? I get the feeling that k-movies have jumped the shark?

uh.. i got a random question and i apologize...
i come to this site time to time to see which dramas and movies are popular among foreigners (i'm korean btw), mostly to recommend a few to my foreign friends.
anyway, i realize all the kdramas and movies have english titles cept for a very few. sometimes i have no clue what a drama or a movie is just by looking at its english title.
i know some drama and movie titles have been officially translated such as the host, but where is the rest coming from? i dont think all the english titles i see here are official.
do fans and fan-subbers give these titles? i was just wondering heh...

They are usually official English titles of the movie. Do a search of the title in IMDB and it'll come up with the Korean one, and in some cases, alternate English/International titles.

eg.

My Sassy Girl

Yeopgijeogin geunyeo (Romanized)
Bizarre Girl South Korea (literal English title)
My Sassy Girl International (English title)
Ryôkiteki na kanojo Japan
Yupgi Girl Hong Kong (English title)
