It seems to be a clever idea to revoke update rights from the engines DB-user, but it tries to store session ID's in a table...SQL Error : 1142 UPDATE command denied to user 'daddict_forumbo'@'localhost' for table 'phpbb_sessions_keys'

[Error] Read only mode is not working on phpBB2
I get the following error, when visiting old phpBB2 site at http://www.d-addicts.com/forum:
Re: [Error] Read only mode is not working on phpBB2
I have the same thing in Safary, but it works normally in Chrome…
Re: [Error] Read only mode is not working on phpBB2
You always get this error when you try to login on the old board. This is normal because there is no way to configure the phpBB2 board to read-only mode.
We made it read-only simply by locking the whole forum database during migration. This was done to avoid any further changes to the board (i.e. new account registrations, visit count updates, etc.). The consequence is that you cannot lock in anymore.
Perhaps a better way would be to lock each (sub)forum of the old board without locking the database. Maybe we will do that. But why do you still want to log in to the old board?

Try to grant update rights to only this one table 'phpbb_sessions_keys' in the database...MoerkJ wrote:We made it read-only simply by locking the whole forum database during migration.

I had the same error at first. You need to delete the cookies for d-addict. You can either flush all your cookies in your web browser or just delete the one for d-addict and it should solve the problem. It works for me.UsagiYojimbo wrote:I get the following error, when visiting old phpBB2 site at http://www.d-addicts.com/forum:It seems to be a clever idea to revoke update rights from the engines DB-user, but it tries to store session ID's in a table...SQL Error : 1142 UPDATE command denied to user 'daddict_forumbo'@'localhost' for table 'phpbb_sessions_keys'

lol, I thought d-addicts was down because I was seeing that error message... maybe you should delete all the stored sections to force a logoff for everyone?

It is not solvable on server side, every client must clear its cookie cache for the old forums...TimeCompression wrote:lol, I thought d-addicts was down because I was seeing that error message... maybe you should delete all the stored sections to force a logoff for everyone?

Re: [Error] Read only mode is not working on phpBB2
It certainly is solvable on server side, though that might not be easy.
What I meant to say is that I think you can delete all rows in phpbb_sessions_keys to force all users to logout and avoid that error message. I may be wrong though, I don't have much experience with phpBB.

I hope the problem is solved now.
I deleted all user sessions for the old forum by emptying the sessions table in the database.
