[HaroRangers] Looking For: Translators (J-E)

Postby Drazic » Sat Jan 31, 2009 12:53 pm

Drazic wrote:It’s been a while since we’ve had any translators express interest in working with us, so to be clear: we are still looking for new translators! If you’re a capable translator interested in working with us, feel free to jump on #harorangers @ irc.rizon.net (If you don’t know what that means, use this: http://qchat.rizon.net/?&channels=%23HaroRangers ). Once you’re there poke me (Drazic) or Makhazol for more information. Alternately, mail us at staff [at] harorangers.com. There’s no real requirement for joining, I’ll just throw you an ep or two of a drama and see how that goes.

As some of you might have noticed, we also announced we’d be subbing Unmei no Hito on the jdrama fansub map. While we did start work on Episode 1, the translator had to stop because of real life problems. There’s Japanese subs, but the language used is quite a bit harder than in your usual Japanese drama. If you think you’d be able to handle that, we’d especially love to hear from you. Otherwise, we also have various other dramas that we could do, should they pique your interest. I bought a few R2 drama DVDs a while ago, and there are still plenty of dramas (with Japanese scripts) in need of subbing.

Bringing wonderful Japanese entertainment takes a lot of people and we at HaroRangers would like your help in bringing more (like Dorama, Tokusatsu and PVs) to English-speaking peoples. We’re always looking for more crew members. Below is a list of positions we’re looking to fill.

Translators
Japanese to English. Japanese language skills are a must (interpreting by ear is preferred, but if you can use a transcript, that’s fine too. Just remember that transcripts may not always be available) and good English skills are preferred (good grammar, spelling, punctuation), too. You will get a say in what you get to translate and we’ll do our best to build a team who share similar translating interests. Experience with fan-sub groups isn’t needed, but it will be helpful.

Timers
You just need basic knowledge of Aegisub and it's TPP (Timing Post-Processor) to be able to time projects. Prior experience would be preferred but since timing is fairly easy to learn so it’s not required.

Spot translator/translation checker
Japanese language skills are a must, you'll got through the finished script and check for anything that sounds and/or looks wrong/weirdly translated. It's a huge plus if you could also be the editor for the drama you're working on.

If you’re interested in joining you can leave a comment on this post with your email/IM info (Yahoo!, MSN (Live), ICQ, Google Talk or AIM) or send me a mail to staff[at]harorangers.com. Joining will also mean you get an @harorangers.com email address of your choosing.

For more info visit our site: http://harorangers.com/ or our fan-sub wiki page: http://fansub.d-addicts.com/HaroRangers

We're looking for several positions. A note to all posters to include some form of contact or you can e-mail us. Giving us an idea of your experience or knowledge would help us along in the recruiting process.

Hello, I am a timer and even though I am new to this forum I have been a member of Henshin Justice Unlimited for a while and I do have timing experience with another fan sub group (I've done two episodes) although I am still new to it. I will admit that the only thing I have viewed from you guys is Carranger, but I do want to see more of your work, and that is not the main reason why I am joining you guys, I would like to help you guys with whatever you need help with (timing wise). My email is sgtkira@gmail.com please contact me :)

We had to move our tokusatsu torrents to Nyaa because of Toei. You can find our releases of Kamen Rider Double and Gekisou Sentai Carranger on our site and http://www.nyaatorrents.org/.

And as always, if you want to join HaroRangers send a pm to me or mail to staff@harorangers.com!

Hey guys.

I can help out with the Japanese translation. I've already subbed some doramas here and a few gaki no tsukai episodes. I've been a bit busy these past months so unfortunately I had to stop but II have plenty of free time now, during my winter break, so I can help out with the translation.

I'm mostly interested in owarai ( lke London Hearts, Gaki no Tsukai and Lincoln) but I'd be willing to do dorama too.

PM me and let me know if you have any Japanese translator position available now.
Look forward to working with you guyz ;)

We've announced subs for the upcoming spring drama Keibuho Yabe Kenzo. We wont be able to sub this if nobody will upload japanese subs for it though! We'll probably still try but we'll need to recruit some more translators and it will take ages ^^. So now we're also looking for:

-Japanese subs provider for Keibuho Yabe Kenzo
Basically someone who can provide us with the japanese subs for Keibuho and sync them to the raws!

PM me or send a mail to staff@harorangers.com if you can help with this.

We're also still looking for more translator and timers =)

We finally finished our first two series this year and are looking for more staff to help us finish older projects and start new ones. One of the new ones wer'e especially interested in is:

Atami no Sousakan
http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Atami_no_Sousakan

For this drama we're looking to fill the following positions:

- Translator (J>E)
Experience preferred but not required, We're hoping japanese subs show up so it's not necessary to be able to translate from ear.
- Spot translator/translation checker
Experience preferred but not required, would be a plus if you could also be the editor for this and other drama.

See the first post on more info about how you can apply to join.

I hope you can too. I suggested this dorama, but didn't find any interest amongst our translators. Too bad no translators seem to be interested in it.

Heiwa released ep 1 of Atami no Sousakan so we'll drop that. Unless they dont end up finishing it which is very unlikely xD

We're working on that already, going to take a pretty long time due to lack of japanese subs though. A show like Trick is pretty hard to translate and having no japanese subs doesnt help.

So if anyone wants to help translate that, send a mail to staff [at] harorangers.com ^^

And we're still recruiting! At the moment we're looking for translators who are able to work without japanese subs for the following drama:

- Kimi ga Omoide ni Naru Mae ni (http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Kimi_ga_Omoide_ni_Naru_Mae_ni)

the raws for this on d-addicts are awful but I bought some rental dvds for this on yahoo auctions a while ago so we got proper raws.

- Kao (http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Kao)

This is a joint with SOS fansubs but since their translator is too busy to be the main translator for the series while getting it out in a timely manner we'd like some help on this as well.

Please send a mail to staff [at] harorangers.com if you're interested in helping us sub these drama.

Translators who prefer to work with japanese subs can still apply. Just wont be able to work on the projects mentioned above. There's still plenty other drama with japanese subs though.

It’s been a while since we’ve had any translators express interest in working with us, so to be clear: we are still looking for new translators! One of our main translators recently informed us he wasn’t able to continue translating with us, and while this is only an inconvenience for some of our current projects, it means we can’t start any new drama projects.

Translators still required at HaroRangers and they have a huge bunch of incentives such as a free holiday home in Europe (as long as you bring a tent) including tour guides and will also make you feel good as a box of cookies will be donated to a worthwhile cause (me) for every application!
