So is it too early to post up about new upcoming dramas? xD
Anyways, I am here to present the "discussion" thread for a upcoming Winter 2009 drama, Love Shuffle (ラブ　シャッフル)!

This romantic and comedic drama features Tamaki Hiroshi (Nodame Cantabile), Karina (movie Koizora), and Matsuda Shota (Hana Yori Dango). :] I love all these actors and actress, so I am excited for this drama and also the synopsis is very intriguing, something that has probably been done before but still an exciting topic. I really like to see how they are going to play this one out.

Tamaki plays a manager at an IT company who breaks off his engagement to the president's daughter. Later at his apartment, a power failure leaves him trapped in an elevator with three other residents. While waiting, their conversation hits upon the question of whether there is truly only one fated partner for everyone. As a result, they decide to run an experiment by "shuffling" their relationships with one another.

It's a TBS network drama that will premiere on January 16, 2009 after Ryusei no Kizuna.

I also read on the Jdrama Weblog that Maki Yoko (Security Police) will be in it too, so hopefully if she is, she will be a frequent character.

Looks interesting and funny! Lots of great cast so far too. Love Tamaki, Tanihara, Shota, and Karina. Kanjiya Shihori being in the cast really makes me extra happy. She was very funny in Kimi Hannin Janai yo ne? and great in Ando Natsu. So nice to see her again. Definitely another series to follow this winter!

I was waiting for another project for Matsuda Shota and here it is! I heard about this Love Shuffle a while ago, but couldn't find anything on it yet. Ah, it's way too early to start waiting for a next season drama, but I can't help it. I miss Matsuda and the plot sounds really interesting, too!

Usami Kei (Tamaki Hiroshi) seems to be a elite salaryman who has attained status through his relationship with his wealthy socialite girlfriend, Kagawa Mei (Kanjiya Shihori) from the perspective of others but she pronounces the end of their engagement and he finds himself losing both status and love. At the same upscale condominium live other residents - a freelance interpreter of three languages Aizawa Eru (Karina), a cameraman who specialises in the photography of females Sera Ojiro (Matsuda Shota), and Kikuta Masato (Tanihara Shosuke) a doctor who runs a practice in psychosomatic medicine - with whom Kei experiments in a “love shuffle”.

Character Descriptions

* Tamaki Hiroshi as Usami Kei (29)
A section chief and a graduate from a second-rate university. He should have risen to become the division chief after his marriage, but ... is his love for Mei real? Or is it just because he wants to maintain his current lifestyle? He's opposed to the love shuffle.

* Karina as Aizawa Airu (25)
The daughter of a diplomat. She works as a translator. She has a boyfriend that she wants to break up with but she is enthusiastic about the love shuffle.

* Matsuda Shota as Sera Ojiro (26)
A photographer who shoots magazine cover shots and an outstanding young man who's successful in his career. The female subjects of his photography shoots are always bowled over by him. He loves women and he's enthusiastic about the love shuffle.

* DAIGO as Oishi Yukichi (29)
A wealthy man who made his money through stock trading. Even though he loves Airu, he eventually gives up and joins the love shuffle.

* Yos hitaka Yuriko as Hayakawa Kairi (19)
She hallucinates and has tried to kill herself several times. Her condition is unstable. She joins the love shuffle at the persuasion of Dr Kikuta.

* Kojima Hijiri as Kamijyo Reiko (34)
Her husband is a famous person. She is enjoying herself in the 3 months before her husband's return and joins the love shuffle at the invitation of her lover, Ojiro. She's a woman who only cares about looks but not talent or virtue.

* Kanjiya Shihori as Kagawa Mei (25)
The daughter of a company president. Kei saved her when she met a mountain accident back in high school and they are currently dating. She has never dated anyone else. 3 months before their wedding, she suddenly proposes to break off their engagement. She and Airu were classmates but Airu has forgotten about her because she has transferred schools numerous times. She joins the love shuffle.

* Tanihara Shosuke as Kikuta Masato (32)
An easy-going psychologist, he is more famous than he deserves to be. He joins the loves shuffle at Kairi's invitation.

Tamaki, Tanihara, DAIGO -- That's three of my favorite men in one show. I''m not complaining about Matsuda Shota either.

I'm not sure if you've heard of this before, but since BREAKERZ (DAIGO's band) is doing tours during the filming of Love Shuffle, Tamaki gave DAIGO "Throat Coat" as a present. It's a product to help protect the throat/ease throat pain.

Been a fan of Yoshitaka Yuriko since watching 'Noriko's Dinner Table', so even though I more often than not despise Japanese comedy, I'll probably end up watching this. The plot seems interesting enough, just hope they don't spoil it with excessive amounts of inane humour...

I hope you do pick this up Querbeet, you did a really great job on Innocent Love (being the only drama subbed by your group that I have watched as of yet). I wish I could help you out with needing a translator, but afraid that my Japanese won't be up to the challenge before I begin studying there, which unfortunately will be the final year of my masters. I kinda assume that will be a busy time; from what I know of Japanese culture so far, more than likely much more so than if I were to finish my studies at home! Oh well, what can you do?

Tamaki! Shota! Tanihara! DAIGO! I love all the guys!!! Too bad, I only like Kanjiya Shihori among the girls. Don't care much abt Karina, and I don't know the other two, Yoshitaka Yuriko and Kojima Hijiri. Can anyone post more closeup pictures of these two? And what dramas has they been in? I want to know more abt them!

The scriptwriter is Nojima Shinji, who has written many popular dramas. And this one is a romantic comedy!! The last time he wrote romantic comedy was Golden Bowl, and I loved that drama ALOT!!! So I'm really looking forward to this drama!

I guess, Tamaki and Karina will appear in Brunch, Jan 10th? And since they're the leads, Tamaki and Karina would obviously end up together, no?

I hope Shihori hook up with either Shota or DAIGO at the end

She'll make a cute couple with either two.

Yoshitaka Yuriko, born in July 22, 1988. I've only seen her in Ashita no Kita Yoshio(definitely should check that drama out. It's quite funny and sad). She also star in Snakes and Earrings as the lead actress. I don't think she's that popular yet but she sometimes reminds me of Korean singer, BoA. Other than that, I don't really know much about her.

Overall, I think the actresses in this drama are not that popular yet or their just on the rise to popularity. Though, I'm not so sure about Kojima Hijiri since she's a lot older than the rest of the actress and has star in older films back in the days so I don't know much about her status. Karina is getting more recognize through her acting since Daisuki. So I'm glad that she was cast in this drama.

About the plot, for sure Karina is going to end up w/ Tamaki. Both are the main leads or unless something happens, which I doubt it. I'm thinking Yoshitaka Yuriko might end up w/ Matsuda Shota but I really don't mind if he ends up w/ Kanjiya Shihori because she did guest star in HYD2 as his childhood crush. It'll be so cute if they did end up.

I love his shorter hair, especially when he played Chiaki, hehe. He does look older with longer hair, but I don't think that is the only thing that is making him look older. Is it me or is Tamaki Hiroshi skinnier than he was when he was in the show Nodame Cantabile? He doesn't look as healthy and youthful as he did before.

The lines on his face is more apparent because he is too skinny especially for his 5'9 height. I wonder what is up with him.

I hope he gains a bit more weight to look the way he did before he lost weight.

But anywayz...Is Love Shuffle really on TBS in the United States? Or is it different?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feel this way. Tamaki is way too skinny now and he look old. I wish he'll put some weight back and return to the suave/cool Chiaki senpai hahaha....

About Shota...I just love...love...LOVE his new hairdo. He definitely look much better in here than during his Hana Dan/Liar Game days.

Haha, the elevator scene was funny!! Episode 1 was pretty good, but not as funny as I expected. But I think things will get much more interesting starting next week, as the Love Shuffle has begin. I love all the characters, except for that old married woman >_< They should've get prettier and likeable actress for her character.

Watched ep 1 today, it was SO GOOD. Tamaki is fantabulous as usual, and this is the first time I'm seeing Karina in a leading role but she's amazing. I think the guys are all solid, the other girls besides Karina need to develop further as characters befor I can say either way, since they were only briefly introduced in episode 1. I'm betting this will be my favorite drama this season.

All the DAIGO love aside, I really liked Yukichi. I thought the whole Aihiru mistaking him for a waiter was sweet. I think I'd root for this character the most.

Kei and Ojiro's scenes were pretty funny too. I like it when they interact.

I thought the first ep was pretty good (what I understood anyways lol), but the atmosphere of the show grosses me out. The ABBA music, the way most of the characters come off, the dim lighting...i feel like I just walked into a skeezy lounge lol. Next week's ep looks good.

what the hell happened to Tamaki???!!!!! he looks SO SO SKINNY, his face enough is anorexic to me! where has the healthy handsome Chiaki senpai gone to? (i know this isn't Nodame) but seriously, someone PLEASE FEED HIM!!!

i didn't watch the whole episode yet, just few minutes (browsing thru) and the moment he appeared, i was shocked. he looked so OLD. even for a late twenties person.

On the other hand, I really like Shota's hair in here!

I finished watching the 2nd ep and at first I thought this might be a Room Of King drama, although Hiro

was in it I didn't really finish watching all of it as I didn't find it all that great. But this drama however, it really caught my interest. I really thought the whole "Love Shuffle" concept was an interesting idea and I can't wait to see how it all plays out. ^ I don't really mind Mei but for me I can't seem to like Kojima Hijiri(Reiko), I'm not sure if it's her acting or if it's just her playing that character. Perhaps if it was some other actress playing Reiko I wouldn't care as much

, sounds so mean >.< . Maybe I'll find more interest in her as the drama progresses, who knows ;) I can't wait for the next ep. though!!

It is also a great possibility. Maybe characters will match better this way.

Anyway, since no original couple was nominated as candidate then the moral of the story is then:

"The love by your side is not your destined love, Let's shuffle"

I just finished watching the 3rd ep, and [spoiler]when I saw the Kiss between Matsuda Shota & Tamaki Hiroshi my eyes were like this

. I couldn't believe it was lip to lip and the expression on Hiroshi's face and what he said after the kiss was priceless.

. I also agree with yanie that there might be a possibility between Ojiro-Kairi, and Yukichi-Mei. So I guess Reiko and that Psychologist Masato might end up together, I actually think that they will work out well together

And the previews for the next episode were so good I can't wait to see it!![/spoiler]

I just finished watching the first episode with english subs, and while it was a little slow - it wasn't bad at all. So, I skipped to episode four and it seems like it is one of those shows with slow pacing that is rather good. I actually really enjoyed the couples that had been shuffled together for episode four.

I look forward to seeing where this is going.

Thanks for the info. I feel like everything is going to end within 3 months and then that's when they'll end up w/ their destined one. For example, Reiko's husband is out of town and is coming back in 3 months which is why she's participating in the love shuffle. Kairi's b-day is in 3 months so she promise to live for the time being. Kei and Mei called off their wedding before 3 months. IDK.. but I feel like the "3 months" is probably a keyword too.. to the drama as well.. just my opinion.

Enjoy the first episode and liked most of the characters.

Anyways about that character that called off her wedding I think I understand why she did, the guy he was going to married seems to be more concern about losing he's high/rich living without her he loses he's job and expensive apartment my guess is that she thinks that he really doesn't love him and is just with her for the high class living. So she enter this game to test him if he truely loves her also would explain why she doesn't want to tell him why she call of the wedding.
