DramaWiki Firefox/Mozilla Search Plugin
For those of you who use DramaWiki for your Asian TV drama education...
I've written a Mozilla search plugin for DramaWiki. I've already run the plugin by Ruroshin, and he gave me the thumbs up! If you are running Firefox or some flavor of Mozilla (Opera and Netscape are others), you can use the plugin.

Try using the hyperlink posted on that web site. It'll attempt to install the plugin for you, using the web browser's built-in plugin installer. However, if that doesn't work with your browser, there are instructions on the same page on how to install the plugin manually. The plugin may also be compatible with Apple's Sherlock search tool.
Enjoy!

I've tested the plug-in under Firefox 2 (I'm right now on version 2) and it works. So it may have something to do with the installation process. I would try using a manual method of installation:BigNoodle wrote:hi there
I just found this thread, and I'm so hapy, tht's exactly what I was looking for... but...
I'm surfing on Firefox 2 and it doesn't work... What can I do ??
1. Download the RAR package:
http://www.groinkcaps.com/daddicts/dramawiki-en.rar
2. Close ALL Firefox windows.
3. Uncompress the RAR package.
4. Locate your Mozilla profile, which on a Windows PC would be at:
C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<your profile name>\seachplugins
NOTE that Application Data may be a hidden folder. You need to enable show hidden files in order to see the App Data folder.
5. Copy dramawiki-en.xml into the searchplugins folder.
6. Run Firefox. DramaWiki (en) should now be among the list of search engines.

I see... This is actually a limit placed on DramaWiki. I don't think it can search for words of 3 letters or less. The technical reason for this limit is to ease up on the amount of processing by the site's search engine (i.e. MySQL.) In SQL, the smaller the search keyword, the heavier the processing load. You'll have to resort to using Google and search using the parameter: "site:wiki.d-addicts.com kim" (without quotes), or use the Google search engine built into DramaWiki. The Firefox plugin will only search using DramaWiki's built-in search engine.BigNoodle wrote:groink> I didn't have to to what you just explained, it was already there... It's just that even if I type something like "Kim" the search engines founds no answers... Even though I know there are a lot of entries with KIM

I actually like using the built in google search for d-addicts and drama wiki, do you know what url I would use when modifying the src file?
This is the url I come up with after searching on one of them(it would obviously be modified to match either of those cases:
"search terms" is what was searched

I didn't realize this existed so I made two Firefox search engine plugins.
One searches using wiki's search
the other searches using google search on wiki.
Since you have one up I'll post the other.
the thread is here
http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopi ... 30#1189830
And i'll attach it here also.
Thing about it is that you have to install it yourself. Put it in the folder for your OS mentioned on the first author's site.
For Windows
Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/searchplugins
Works for Firefox 3 which uses .xml
