Ruroshin, thank you
for the years of exploring Asian TV, and making my world so much richer.
Change happens, otherwise there would be no future.

Extremely depressing and borderline life-altering news. Thanks to everyone for everything.

Furransu's site is not a viable alternative for those of us interested in older dramas, current dramas in higher resolution, and dramas not being subtitled. And as a poster above said, Asiatorrents drama torrents are mostly copied from here.

I can only hope and pray a comparable replacement pops up soon. I also dearly hope this doesn't cause any of the subbers to stop subbing.

Should we be madly trying to grab up some of the torrents before they disappear?

A heartbreaking news indeed! :'(
Anyone could provide Furransu's blog?
Nothing beats with D-addicts when it comes to torrents. I didn't like Asiatorrents coz you are required to seed for you not to get 'leecher' status. That site is not for those who haveslow connection. xD

Anyway, I hope you guys could provide torrent sites.
I respect the admin's announcement.

It would be great if torrents can be found in the pirate bay or kickas$. that way we don't have to worry about ratio and resolution

That is the BIG question.
Will fansubbers still Post their subs to D-Addicts?
Do fansubbers get their RAW from places other than D-Addicts?
Will some Fansubbers be lost because of the torrent section shutdown?

I am sure that most of we D-Addicts fans are asking similar questions.

I for one am wondering where to get Asadoras and Taigas.

Okay, now that I am an addict, what to do?

There are download sites, but not torrents. There is one torrent site that I believe would suffice. Right now they just support Japanese and Korean TV shows like Running Man, that web page is http://www.nyaa.se/ . Has anyone looked at this site, it may be our best bet at Kdrama and Jdrama.

Thank you, all of you for getting me addicted to Asian Drama. The people at D-Addicts have made my life more fun, from lending out harddrives to friends in the US and lending them to Asian workers on cruise ships that I have sailed on, many thanks. I remember getting ready for a surgery and yes I was nervous, but I kept remembering that when I get out of the hospital, I will be able to download the last episode of some drama, that is what D-Addicts means to some of us.

I never knew how watching that first episode of Coffee Prince, in 2007, would change my life.

Now let us get over this hurdle and keep the ball rolling on. We can do it.

thanks for having kept the site up through all these years. very grateful for it.

sad that the torrents will be gone. i have a feeling this will greatly impact jdramas for any fan outside of japan.

hopefully an alternative can come and also that subbers will not leave d addicts.

I don't think it will be problematic getting torrents from elswhere. I just hope the subbing community will live on here. That's most important.

The power of D-Addicts is that it is an honest community of true fans. It will be difficult to regain that if it were to go under. But as long as the subbers and fans stick together and the uploaders find an alternative, D-Addicts might just stay alive! I'm no expert, but Nyaatorrents seems to me the place to go for new projects. The archive of D-Addicts will be lost though. Maybe some of us who have saved the many drama's (I have 200+ on hard disc) could upload them somewhere on request...

It's going to be interesting (and perhaps even more depressing) to see the fallout from the loss of d-addicts torrents. I suspect that a lot of streaming sites and ddl sites such as JPDDL and AsiaDrama depend on d-addicts as the source for their RAWS.

A huge THANK YOU to all of the contributors for all of their hard work over the years.

Like there's literally 4500 pages of torrents from all the way back to 2004, where else are we gonna find such a centralized index for Asian drama torrents? The closing of d-addicts means the majority of those torrents will end up dying.

This is shockingly abrupt. If this really goes down, let me know if anyone is planning on making a new (and safer) public indexing site for Asian dramas...

This is a veritable tragedy for language students and scholars of far eastern languages.

How would someone at the other end of the world hope to master such difficult and challenging languages without access to abundant sources of audiovisual materials?

I hope the pages themselves are not removed, and that either the site comes back shortly or its contributors migrate elsewhere. The site was very high quality and well organized though, so it is extremely sad in any case.

Is it possible to just keep the torrents section open until the end of the week so we can save some torrents? Of course no new torrents can be uploaded in the meantime, but... just so we have a bit of time to save some? Please? :(

yeah that is so true. I accidentally misnamed a torrent file, and it came out in JPDDL as direct download. this proves that these sites also depends heavily on d-addict. so i think after this JPDDL and others will be affected by this too.

This wouldnt hurt so much if legal streaming websites weren't locked to just the U.S.

This a very sad day for me, I have been a huge jdrama and d-addicts fan since I came across this web site back in 2009, grated not as long as some has been here but on that day my life changed. Watching jdramas was such a wonderful experience for me. I don't have the words to express to the up loaders, subbers and the administrators, how much I'm thankful for there effects in keeping this site going for as long as it has. If there is anything that I could do to help in keeping the torrents going I would, donations...etc. Anything. Thanks for the great years!! And I hope that the old torrents will remain in tacked. There are still so many I have not seen yet would love to have that chance. LOVE YOU ALL!! And love D-ADDICTS :)

I cannot believe that the torrent section of D-Addicts is closing down. As many have stated, this was the place we could rely on when we were looking for dramas that were not available anywhere else. I especially loved the professionalism here. There were many things I wanted to keep on downloading, but life became hectic and made it impossible for me to download everything I wanted. Now, I might never be able to get this once-in-a-lifetime chance I never though would end. I do hope that other ways could be found to keep on sharing the Asian entertainment we managed to enjoy here. I thank the moderators, uploaders, seeders, and any other person who made D-Addicts a historic place.

I'm wondering what the uploaders will do now. Where will you announce your uploads? As much as I am a proponent of private torrent sites, public sites have a huge impact on keeping shows alive.

I'd love a centralized public index for jdramas/j-variety, where all completed shows are organized into batch torrents. Maybe a better organized system of what has and hasn't been uploaded from this season, so it's less of a hassle for uploaders deciding what they upload that season. I'd love to see a project where we revive dead torrents. More HQ files. A project to fill in the gaps from older seasons. Pipe dreams...

Honestly, I'm still kind of in disbelief...

This is horrible news, I wish we could know the reason but oh well.

I've seen a couple of comments recommend nyaa torrents and I second it. Uploaders here could just upload to that site instead. Another option is a private torrent tracker for dramas with less strict guidelines than asiatorrents, if someone would be willing to create it.

Huge huge thanks to ruroshin, all uploaders, all subbers for what you've made happen here

It was great - and always amazing - how generously not only torrents but also knowledge and instructions were shared, how patiently foolish questions were answered, how "open" this site always has been
Thanks so much

To Ruroshin and the d-addicts community.

Thanks for making this such a great place, and exposing us to so much asian culture over the years. I would have known about almost none of this without you guys.

I hope d-addicts can still be a vibrant place. As has been pointed out, there are still so many resources here, the subtitles, the wiki, and the community.

Thanks again,
z

for Korean I don't see any problem. all the current series were posted on the various dl sites (use google, there are tons of them). they get subs (I think) from asiatorrents.

but for Japan its a disaster. asiatorrents does not have much Japanese, and I am sure the dl sites got there raws here. if they were posted on asiatorrents that would solve problem as some/most of the dl sites are probably members there. I checked both Hanako and Massan and neither are there.

the other solution is to use piratebay, as what is uploaded there is soon (within minutes) on the other , easier to use torrent sites.

the best alternative I can think of is piratebay. if they are down everything is on alternate sites, and re-seed requests and subs could still be posted here. there are no rules for uploaders, so if the uploaders migrate there the problem is solved, or at least mitigated. still its sad to see this happen. same thing happened with thebox for UK shows, but at least UK has a viable alternative.

http://www.nyaa.se/ has also been suggested in the shoutbox.

Should I create a poll where people can vote for which one uploaders should use?

ISP providers have actually blocked piratebay and other torrent sites in the UK. :(

Just read this now and am just shocked and sad.

D-addicts was the main source to download dramas that weren't/aren't available anywhere else as well as variety shows etc.
I thought it was actually the whole site closing down..
Nevertheless it won't be the same but thanks to everyone who made this site what it is today.

true, there is none, or very little right now.

but if whoever uploads a series here will upload future eps on piratebaywe can get current eps there. for past eps there are many dl sites with vast libraries. I just downloaded the entire season of Ohisama from one of those, already hard subbed. and that was 156 eps. the major problem is these sites need a central place to get there eps, and piratebay seems the best.

but if whoever uploads a series here will upload future eps on piratebaywe can get current eps there. for past eps there are many dl sites with vast libraries. I just downloaded the entire season of Ohisama from one of those, already hard subbed. and that was 156 eps. the major problem is these sites need a central place to get there eps, and piratebay seems the best.

Could you please offer some dl site?
Without torrent section the d-addicts will be dead soon.

I'm so sad to hear this. D Addicts was the place where I've downloaded the first of thousand of dramas.

I just hope that the your personal reasons are not something bad
Thanks for all those years

Personally I'm not to fond of piratebay, I think nyaa would be the better place to go, after all it's already a place dedicated to asian culture. What we really loose is a place where you not only hit the link for the torrent but where you discuss the TV show and you get in contact with the subbers easily. I'm especially worried about Heiwa-Fansubs (one of my favourite subbing groups) - where will they move their torrents to? Maybe we should create a new thread where all uploaders, raw providers, seeders for old series and hardsubbing fansub groups post their new download locations. I don't think d-addicts will die - after all this is the place where the subs get posted. It would be nice tocreate a place where the whole torrent library could get moved to - maybe talking to the staff at nyaa would be a good idea. I'd love to create a new tracker and library - but since I live in Germany this might be a bad idea - german authorities are way to eager to bust such places.

This is what I feared most. :-(

Hmm... nyaa is a bit confusing for me (maybe because I'm new to it), and I couldn't find a currently airing drama I've been watching. But beggars can't be choosers at this point, and nyaa is actually a decent resource.

Keiko1981, maybe you could do that poll you suggested, so we have an idea of the options available?

Dear Avallac'h,

I will.
But at first I'll try to revive my old uploads somewhere.
Just registered on nyaa. There is "Live action" section.
Looks like there's no need to re-create the torrents. I can just upload them "as is".
I'll try to upload some of them this week-end.

Ruroshin, for all those years, thank you very much.

This is one hell of a hit and I wonder if there's anything we can do. I mean not just for the site, but for Ruroshin as well.

I visit pirate bay with full body armor underneath and a hasmat suit over that. Better have ad blockers installed too to keep all the porn off your screen. Also, fake and attack torrents would be in the mix. There would be no sense of "community" (nor any way to create one) and our torrents would just be scattered everywhere with no way to really filter a series or even narrow the list to asian TV). Also, there wouldn't be the blog-style, RSS-compatible lists to track the daily updates. Just try and see how effectively you can filter your searches there.

I've been poking around every alternative I could think of today and so far I think nyaa.se is the closest feature-matching and best site that's ready to go right now. It's a CJK community (though mostly Japanese content at the moment) and includes a tracker and dynamic RSS feeder. Going there now and filtering on Raw Live Action will bring up today's Pinocchio and The Kings Face torrents mixed with only 3 other new postings - that works!

There aren't any forums or messaging features, however, but that could be done here, leaving the torrent postings only for there.

If you could, please!

It definitely is a loss to not be able to download dramas here anymore. It was the best source around. I'm more curious about what the uploaders plan to do though. DA's the best site around to share because everyone comes here, but that doesn't mean that it's impossible to get raws and dramas. It's just more inconvenient getting them now. The poll would be great in letting them know which other places they can upload to, and for downloaders to know where they can download from too.

Can uploaders let us know what they're planning to do now?

It'd be great if someone could create a website like AsiaTorrents but specifically for Jdramas instead, with less strict rules.

Probably gonna sound rude, but was it really that hard to find furransu's website? I've seen that question countless times, but it's always in a subber's post when they credit sources!

Also, those complaining about websites being blocked in your country. I'm not sure about other browsers, but you can get an extension on chrome which allows you to change your country, effectively allowing you to bypass the whole country-blocking thing. You can even choose which country you want to be 'in', in case the country you first chose is also blocked. Probably the most helpful extension I've come across so far. Do a search, PM me if you cant find it. Or is this something I'm able to share publicly here? If so, I'll just post a link.

then i will just download torrents via furransu's site but where i will download Korean Dramas torrenrs? although i download them at Doramax264 same for Japanese Dramas

The problem with Doramax264 is that they shrink the video files so much that image quality is terrible.
