Wow, that was a powerful episode.
I could hardly breathe the tension was so high.
Iki's outburst about going back to the USSR finally showed us how deep his pain is and the ongoing trauma he is repressing.
On the other hand, I jumped with joy at his promise to make his relationship with Chisato official at last.
The other doramas I can guess my way through no problem but there is no way I could have enjoyed this one without the precious help and enduring commitment of Chuks.

Chuks : I could never thank you enough for this !! Arigato Na !!
Yeah, it was great scene and it showed how great actor Karasawa Toshiaki (Iki Tadashi)
is. Every support actor says Iki was the most difficult role, since he doesn't show
much emotion, but still has to have strong presence.
I was very careful with words I chose to translate his line when I was subbing that scene. I didn't wanna make it too wordy, then you can't focus on his acting, but
I didn't wanna omit too much words since he stated his pain for the first time.
Chuks : I could never thank you enough for this !! Arigato Na !!

Do itashimashite. :) I'm glad I could help you enjoy this great drama. :)
I was just checking some subtitle threads and I was horrified to see
how some fans are so impatient and rude.
They don't realize they are doing nothing but harm, I guess.
I appreciate Fumo Chitai fans for keeping this thread peaceful.
That's what I like about subbing grown-up's drama.
I announced subbing Shinzanmono for the next season before the casts were
announced. But now with casts like Kuroki Meisa and
Mukai Osamu, I'm afraid the thread might become like one of those
"unhappy" thread...
Edit: 50% done.
Should be able to release either today or tomorrow.
It's taking more time to sub since the story is getting more intense and complicated.

I'm sure there'll be some policing, should it ever happen. So don't worry about it imo.
Thanks for 16&17! The highlights of each episode (ep16 - 37:44 // ep17 - 31:53) were pretty intense!

I don't understand your previous post about Shinzanmono. Have you dropped it because of the cast?

Hey Chuks
Since so many people are expressing their thanks to you i thought i should include mine too. Well, i was on a visit to Japan during december - february and it was then that i came across this serial. even though i dont even know the 'j' of japanese, i could easily feel that this is an incredibly good story. i must have watched around ten episodes of fumo chitai in japan without understanding any word but somehow i could manage to understand the flow of the story. everytime i was wishing for this serial to be available in english. it was only when i came back home and searched for fumo chitai on internet, i came across your subtitles. probably i'll never be able to express my elation and joy i felt on finding the subtiles.
thanks a lot chuks. you made me aware of a good story, few great actors and of course, the evolution of japanese culture and economy after war. thanks again

I second the motion of reachingtosky. I truly like the quality of the story. I am glad Toshiaki made this project. I applaud all the lead and supporting actors. They all did a great job. Even though I feel not too many people watch this show, I am happy and proud to watch it. Thanks.

Thanks for the nice post, guys. :)

OOOtakutOmO, thanks for registering just to say thanks. :) That means a lot to me.

reachingtosky, I'm glad you found my subs for this series. :) Since you found Fumo Chitai interesting,
you might like Karei Naru Ichizoku and Shiroi Kyoto. Based on the same author's novels, and they are both great.

dmatrix95, thanks for your support, always! :)

--Update on the subs for finale--
20% edited.
Srry for the delay, we had a busy weekend.
Hopefully I'll release it in the next few days.

PS. Katsukare, I'm planning to sub Shinzanmono. :)
I sent you PM to explain it.

Shinzanmono sounds good since its an Abe show! I have to second Chuks' recommendation of Karei Naru and Shiroi Kyoto. Both are very worth watching if slightly flawed.
This episode is my favorite episode.
What an amazing actor Karasawa Toshiaki(Iki Tadashi) is.
Harada Yoshio(Daimon) was shining too.

About episode 19 (huge spoilers):
I think this episode takes the cake for best resignation in a drama ever.
Catching everyone by surprise, myself included.
And also a total defeat for Samejima in his last "poker game" with Iki.
The last scene also surprisingly brought back the same emotions I saw in episode one.
Which was really a brilliant way to end this drama; something I haven't seen in a long time.
Big thanks and congratulations on completion, Chuks! Looking forward to Shinzanmono!
Yes, his resignation caught me surprise too.
That scene was beautiful. I watched it several times when I was subbing it.
I liked Iki's smile when he walked away from Samejima.
Samejima, Satoi, Kaizuka, they were all bad guys here, but I feel sympathy for
all of them. Well-written.
As you said, one of the best ending I ever seen.
Well made, well acted.

Chuks

I can't thank you enough. This has been one of the best dramas I've ever seen, and your hard work was the major reason I was able to enjoy it.

And I've got to say... I'm delighted to see that you're going to sub Shinzanmono.. I'm an Abe fan, and a detective show nut... so you can imagine how happy I am to hear that it's in such good hands.

Again... Thanks.

Could you include the romaji version as well ( koko ni Nihonjin ....) ?

Chuks, I finished watching this a couple months back and never had the chance to drop by and thank you for doing this project.

I hesitated in watching this drama as the main character is a veteran of the second world war and part of the story involves Japan's role in the war.

But I'm glad I decided to watch it and was thoroughly enjoyed it.
