pokute

The problem is... you've spoiled me.

I really want to watch this special. But I've been so impressed with your efforts in the past that there's no way I can do anything but wait.

Okay, I could learn how to speak Japanese, but I have the feeling that would take more effort than waiting.

So I'll wait.

@Geezer - I appreciate the props, but there's nothing special that I do except shamelessly self-promote in the forums...
These things are group efforts, and in every case (except, amusingly, this particular one - the Hero Special has no translator!!) the translator is responsible for 90% of what you see. In the case of the Hero Special, we have ccdj, who recognised that there was a need for these subs in the first place and provided the rips... And then she was interested enough in going the extra mile to take on extra staff to do additional editing and QC.
That can be a fairly stressful thing to do, because it puts her rep on the line if things go wrong. I hope she's happy with the way things are progressing, and I hope she will organise other similar projects in the future.
The little extra bit that I did with this sub project was to help ccdj with announcement and release protocol (How to make good use of the initial post). Then Tao Libra came on because he was interested in doing the signage, and because extra QC is always nice.
Frankly, if this project were under my control you would never have seen anything, because I have yet to release any files on my own here at D-Addicts, and no plans on doing so in the future ;^)

Hey, that's a very 'nice' way of welcoming a newbie on this forum, thank you very much pokute.

Although I'm new on this forum, i have been watching jdrama all these yrs for as long as I can rem ever since I was a teen, and regardless of whether u're a fansubber or a moderator here, I think that comment was very rude to a fellow forumer, regardless of where u're from, or which country u're from actually. Do we have to judge a person based on his/her post counts? I think this is seriously senseless, all I have posted here is asking how's the translations going, since it's been pretty quiet here. I'm not even bitching about the subbers been slow or what's not, so who's making a scene now here?

I don't care how nice you are as a human being in real life, I don't even care if u're just a regular forumer here anot, but ur comment just really pisses me off, truly otona genai (and if u're an adult for tat matter, u're pretty kanashi in life i guess)

When people dwell on this forum, it doesn't mean he or she has to participate in any or every posts or threads that ppl posts up. I have been around, just haven't been posting around much. I register an account here and post a msg, cos I want to, not because of a certain regimen, or regulations here, isn't it? I believe it's the same for everyone.

Sadly, I wonder what's ur agenda for been a fansubber in real life. Is it because of really it's ur interest? Or u're just trying to hold on to a reputation that u have built for yourself, for your own ego? Only you know yourself.

I'm not here for a debate, so I guess I shall end it here. But I will be around if there's a reply from you.

Well, since Tao Libra has been unable to complete the QC work yet, due to a personal emergency that requires his full attention (sometimes life pulls some downright horrifying tricks on you...) I am going to offer up the second-pass edited subs. I believe that Tao Libra will be back with the fully QC'ed definitive subset eventually. If it happens before the new season of Hero it would be terrific. Let's all send our good wishes to Tao Libra at a difficult time.

The current second-pass edited subs for the Hero Special are here. I would wait for the Tao Libra QC'ed subs before burning these to dvd or anything like that:

Jem's version is a tv rip from Channel 8 in Singapore. i hope there is a kind soul who is willing to transcribe the scripts, just like what was done for Satorare.

You can't just transcribe JEM's subs... That's a nono. JEM can provide their scripts, or they could authorise somebody to transcribe from their subs, but it is generally considered bad form to transcribe or OCR fan produced hardsubs.

Really??? I didn't know JEM's subs were fansubs, I always thought they were hardsubbed TV rips from Singapore. If they are fansubs, then yeah it is bad etiquette to transcribe but if they were subs from the TV station I don't see a problem w/ it -- I've seen many people transcribe other shows that way..

JEM captures the shows from S'pore tv. They are not fansubs.

If Jem has an e-mail address or a PM or something somewhere... Then it's no problem to ask. ^^
I never start something without asking for permission. ^^

Jem's subs are captures from TV... As far as know. So they won't have scripts for it either, I guess. But still, if I really want to do all this work... I'd ask, if it's o.k. to do all that before getting started. ^^

Hmm... Well, if the JEM subs were actually captured from the TV, and somebody knows this for sure, if there is somebody that can OCR them, I will help with the editing of the OCR output. Alternately, if somebody has timings for them, or is willing to time them, I will help with the transcription. Who wants to take charge of this project and contact a moderator here to get a judgement call about the JEM subs?

I'm pretty sure Jem's Videos are TV captures. ^^
But it's always best to ask first before doing something.
I wasn't able to find timings, but I wouldn't care to time it. Timing is one of the things I love to do. XD
I don't know, but maybe Tianj has them though...
I can't be any help with editing, cause my English isn't that great...^^

And I got a PM from pegsball. She said, she'd like to help too. ^^

I won't have so much time after winter holidays. I'll be busy with university... Stupid exams and other things (and worries). Just need to say that... ^^

Someone who is in charge would be great. Since I won't have so much time, and my English is bad, I don't think this position would fit me... ^^;
Maybe someone volunteers... ^^ Hehehe... :P

FYI, the Japanese DVD's of Hero do not have (Japanese) subtitles. So, no luck getting your timings from there.

I know there are programs that (semi-)automaticly OCR subtitles from hardsubbed files. I have tried it in the past with mixed results. In the end typing in the subtitles from the screen was easier and faster.

I am going to do a full-on careful QC of the special as soon as we (Vulcan300) finish HERO 2001. It would come out a hella lot better if TaoLibra were doing it, but at this point I think we can say that is not likely to happen. I hope that whatever disaster befell TaoLibra is abating, and that he is doing well, and that we will see him fansubbing again someday.

It will be edited from the existing translation, with additional translating help. I figured that once HERO 2001 is finished, there will be renewed demand for this.

Hi liddo-kun. When comparing the length of the two subs, I noticed that there's almost 10 minutes missing from the DoA sub.
Do you know if it's actual scenes from the SP or commercials that are cut?

hi jpfn, it's the actual scenes that are cut. commercials are still there.

old one : 00:00:00 (starts) -> 01:53:49 (film ends & black screen credits roll afterwards) -> 01:55:20 (video ends)

rebroadcast : 00:00:00 (starts) -> 01:44:19 (film ends, running text credits is wthin the film near the end of it & preview for the new HERO SP 2015-Dec afterwards) -> 01:47:25 (video ends)

hope it helps :-)

Sure does! It's a shame the rebroadcast was edited.
Thanks for the info and editing the subs.
