I'm so sorry for the Ep3's delay.
Got caught up with work and other stuff and wasn't home for the last three days.
I'll begin working on it today and I hope I can upload it by tomorrow!
Thanks for your patience :)

Thank you so much for subbing this drama! It's been a while since I watched Mao's drama and the plot also seems intriguing.

I really love your subtitles, I can see the passion in them, it's like reading a good book at night while eating some cookies with milk *nomnomnom* (but while watching a drama) :3 I wish I could learn Japanese like that too, but sadly my brain is really against chinese characters, I wonder how you can memorize or understand words from Japanese voices... Awww, thanks a lot for the support & for these sweet words :roll
I'm so happy to read your compliments about my subtitles and for describing them as a "good book" <3 this means the world to me

Thanks for the subs. It's much appreciated.

I like this drama a lot and savor every episode like it's the last. I don't think you have to worry too much about delays. If people are interested they can always wait.

Sam.Nozomi and I had a slight problem with the spacing of the subs in the .ass file. If anyone comes across any lines that seem to stop abruptly (unless the character is interrupted- then it should be there ^^;), please let us know. I'm not sure if it's an issue with notepad or if something else is going on.

It's not a problem on your side.

I'm the one who time the subtitles. (Unless Sam has made changes to the timing).

Usually I end the subtitles when there's a scene change, I don't want them to overlap to the following scene. You can read more about how I time subtitles here.

I'm not very familiar with the .ass file format, but there appears to be a problem with the [Script Info] and/or [V4+ Styles] sections in the episode 5 subtitles file, at least according to Subtitle Edit, the software that I use to adjust timing. It gives an error when I open the ep05 subtitle file. When I take these first two sections from the ep04 subtitle file and paste them into the ep05 file, the subtitles display properly.

Sorry, I thought that this issue was what eyeslikefirefly was referring to in the earlier post. When I tried to view episode 5 using VLC 2.2.8, the subtitle positioning is incorrect and behaves strangely. As I mentioned, when I opened the file using the Subtitle Edit software, it noted an error with the ass file formatting for ep05. I was able to fix the problem by replacing the ep05 [V4+ Styles] section with the one from ep04.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding eyeslikefirefly's issue, but I thought that it was the same problem that I had with this episode's subtitles.

Edit: Strangely, the original subtitles display properly when using MPC-HC to view the episode. So, maybe this is a VLC-specific issue.

Actually VLC had a "positioning" problem with ep 05 subs. I opened the .ass sub is Aegisub and changed the Style from 640x480 to 848x480 and that "cleaned" them up in VLC for me. But I am on a Mac using OS X 10.13.
Anyway I will attach my edtted sub file here.

Sorry for the late reply. The problem was actually showing up in MPC for me. The subtitles randomly had spaces added to them that would cut off parts of sentences (literally an extra space like this: "Here are some words I am typing

the sentence ends down here and the subs are cut off.")

If we took out that space, everything would show up fine in the video and for some reason that space kept showing back up, even though we took it out.

But thank you, dhisashi, for sharing a fixed version that works for VLC users. Hopefully it won't show up again for the next subs (sorry, no update on when they will be out).

Hey all- quick update since Sam.Nozomi is super busy and I feel bad leaving you all hanging. I do plan on helping Sam.Nozomi finish subbing this, but we've hit a bit of snag because real life has made it difficult for her to do any translation work. We'll do our best to finish this... so sorry for the wait.

I do plan on helping Sam.Nozomi finish subbing this, but we've hit a bit of snag because real life has made it difficult for her to do any translation work. We'll do our best to finish this... so sorry for the wait.

Hi Everyone.

I don't even know how to put my apology in words.
But I'm truly sorry - wholeheartedly - for disappearing like this, for not updating you guys about the project and for holding into it selfishly.
I've been very very (extremely) busy with work since Dec 2017 and I'm still (let me tell you this so you might be less mad at me, I work in a diplomatic field; and things go so uncertain there, so..) :(
Anyway, I keep reminding myself about it and I keep hoping for some time to resume subbing, but I seem to be failing to do that, every single time.

I was really intending to complete this project - I don't like to do things half-way, but it does not seem to be working, I need to step back and let someone else take care of it and continue subbing as I can't let you guys wait for it anymore.

Thank you eyeslikefirefly for helping me, supporting me and waiting for my subs patiently.
Thank you everyone for your wonderful support & for posting nice comments for me here, it was an unforgettable journey.

I'm so sorry we couldn't get this finished up, everyone. We all know how life can change- you're super free one day and then you suddenly have a million things on your plate. I know that feeling right now! I'd still really like to see Mao's drama get finished though.

If anyone is up for taking on this project and English isn't your first language (so maybe you aren't so confident)- I'm willing to help still! I won't judge your language skills, I'm pretty easy going and I will happily talk out any issues we come across with the translations.

This project is pre-timed by keiko1981 with Japanese subtitles (https://www.giftedones.net/ashita-no-yakusoku-2017/), so if your listening skills aren't super or if you don't know how to time files- those problems are already covered! (I also have some experience re-timing lines, if we need to- so no worries there.)

Please let me know if you want to help! Or if anyone wants to take this over to do on your own, please do! m(____)m

Ashita no Yakusoku ep6 (onwards(?))

Postby Ais » Fri Apr 27, 2018 12:30 am

Thought I chime in that potato_carrot started where you wonderful people left off - https://twitter.com/_potatocarrot/statu ... 3317357568 - though I don't know either if I would be able to Translation check / QC for her since my translations also gets a lot of edits from editors / QC'rs (if you just look at ep1 v2 and ep2 v1 of Koe Girl that's currently in the works, I'm like - oh man, I wish my English is better LOL)

From an earlier discussion:
Keiko1981 wrote:As it is now, I don't think it's possible to stop it. Unless there's some kind of new file format for subtitles that's not possible to be ripped or streamed.
I was actually trying to test out if everyone would like .sup or .idx/.sub - which brings new problems sadly haha

Ditto! This is great news, I was just thinking the other day that I was hoping someone might continue the hard work from Sam.Nozomi and eyeslikefirefly. Many thanks to Potato_Carrot and to Ais for posting them here!

Somehow I don't think I've ever seen here in a drama or movie until very recently, in The Cinderella Murder Case. She was excellent in it and I'm definitely interested to see her performance in this show.

I think you meant The Snow White Murder Case.

I also "discovered" Mao Inoue with this drama, though I've subsequently realized that I'd seen her in other movies. I also recently watched "The Snow White Murder Case" and enjoyed Mao's performance.

Thanks, again, to Sam.Nozomi and eyeslikefirefly for their work on the first half of "Ashita no Yakusoku".

Yes, I did. My mistake. I knew something felt off with my memory there. Well, at least I was decently close! Thank you for the correction.

Without frequent referrals to Dramawiki or Asianwiki, I wouldn't remember the titles of any of the movies that I've watched in recent months. Your memory is quite good!

Thanks jefftiger! I refer to those sites quite a bit myself, especially for titles that are in Japanese; in fact I have AsianWiki and mydramalist open in other tabs right now. I often use the latter because of the integrated user reviews.

I wanted to see this drama completely too and until today I had forgotten about it.
My Japanese isn't great but I can help correcting any English-related stuff, if you're not so confident in your English grammar/vocabulary then I might be able to help too~ ( I have a lot of free time so).
No life, Lot of time.

If anyone is still looking for subs, they're available from https://subscene.com/subtitles/school-counselor-tomorrows-promise-ashita-no-yakusoku/english/1792707

Not sure about the quality or if they match up with older files.

Thanks for the info. I found these same subtitles hardsubbed to a 1080p raw on Avistaz last week. I finally finished watching the last few episodes. These subs appear to be of high quality. I very much enjoyed the series, which dealt with a number of serious topics. Inoue Mao was quite impressive.

Thanks for the heads up! They don't match with the 480p raws.
