Synopsis
Aizawa Hinata is a high school counselor who provides support to students with school and family problems. This is motivated by the warped relationship she had with her over-controlling mother which she could not discuss with anyone. One day, a male student who has not been attending school confesses that he likes her. However, he dies mysteriously the next day. Hinata takes action to determine the cause of his death and learns that the boy suffered insidious bullying at school and excessive meddling by his mother. He had a record of delinquency and kept rough company. Hinata is hounded by his mother who believes that she is responsible for her son's suicide, and is driven to the verge of breaking down. -- Jdrama Weblog.

I've decided to take on this project as so many of my favorite actors/actresses are starring on this drama, also, I'm a Japanese speaker and I've already watched the 1st episode and found it very interesting, so that's why!
Anyway.. this's going to be my very first experience in drama subtitling world, therefore, I'm not yet sure about the whole process & how it goes (still looking into it). I believe keiko1981 is going to provide the timed JPN subs (source: http://www.giftedones.net/subtitles-projects/), so once I get my hands on them, I'll start translating into English immediately. So please, bear with me & guide me through the whole thing, you know.. in-case if anything goes wrong here or there :-)

* JPN Subs: Jpsubbers
* Timer: keiko1981
* QC: eyeslikefirefly (starting from Ep 2)
* Subtitles sync to 480p at Jdramacity.

MOD
480p at Nyaa

Edit:
I have just uploaded the subtitle file of the first episode, and here are some points that I want to share with you guys!

- As you know, there would be some words which can't be literally translated into English, it might be difficult to find the exact counterpart in English, and in some cases, it might not exist at all (e.g: 結び as a linguistic term in Japanese, it doesn't exist in English because of the differences of the linguistic rules, obviously) and there could be so many as well, in the next coming episodes. Anyway, I tried my best to simplify it and get the general meanings without harming the actual contexts, so no worries!
(Just saying, might help Japanese language learners somehow!)

- I've added the side dialogues (not sure how it's called), like the stuff written in the papers let's say, the signs, and most importantly, the phone text messages.
Those were not initially there in the JPN subtitle file (which is normal!) so I had to add them (its translated versions) in the sub file, and therefore, I had to time those manually.. so please, excuse if the timings were not that accurate with those sentences.

- I'm truly appreciating everyone's efforts on their subtitling/timing projects, I wouldn't have known how time consuming it is until now, when I tried it myself.
It took me like a whole day almost (the translation & QC), although most of the times I was only re-translating the context by listening, yet it required me sometimes to do an in-depth check on some words and its accurate counterpart in English. All in all, this is my very first project and I can now tell how much efforts all the subtitle translators/timers out there make, salute to you guys! :salut:

- Let me know please if you face anything wrong with the translation and the contents (e.g: typo!)/the files in general.

Ep 1 (Update)
I've again uploaded an updated sub file, this time I found out about a mistake which I've totally missed & I'm still wondering how this happened, after these hundred times of QC! Lol, but it's okay, it happens.
Okay, so thanks to someone who left that note to me about the word (hikki) on Dramacool, I knew it basically but because I re-translated the file in a text notepad format and it doesn't have an automatic spelling-check as you know, so while doing that on Google translate (and which I'm not gonna do again), I -by mistake- copied the one was suggested by google. As (Hikki) & (Hickey) has the same sound if you try to utter them in Japanese.
I understand it's a horrible mistake but I have somehow missed it, and thanks to that comment for notifying me about it.

So Hikki from Hikkimori (引きこもり), it's a slang word and a noun that describes someone dropping out of society and totally isolating him/herself from others. I'm so getting mad at myself because I also put it in a quotation mark, because it's supposedly a (Japanese slang word) so I had to put it that way, haha... anyway it got totally messed up and I didn't even notice it :pale: .
Alright.. I also added the meaning of it in the sub file. At first I didn't because I wasn't really concentrating on those side events much..

Wait, you know what? I also remember me reading the lines out loud, and reading that (Hickey) as (Hikki)! :glare:
Sorry guys :(, I will be careful next time.. and bear with me please, still in the process of mastering the perfect subtitling.

Ep 4
I cried with Hasebe-kun, not once.. but twice.
The poor kid broke my heart!

Thanks & enjoy!

Thank you everyone for the nice comments.
I've just modified the translations and made some corrections (Omg, lots of typos and wrong phrases arrangement, LOL).
Anyway, I recommend you downloading the new file in the attachment!
Enjoy :)

P.s: Can someone tell me why Dramacool removes the credits from the sub files in its videos?
I mean not only mine, but also the original JPN sub owner and the timer's too... I don't really find that cool though! :-)

Cause it's a bunch of money-hungry assholes running the site. Try adding another line of credits at the end or during later CM breaks. They usually don't remove my end credits. Anyway, do yourself a favor and don't bother about streaming sites. It's like tilting at windmills, unfortunately.

Because they're lazy greedy assholes. Who don't do the work themselves. (Or hire someone who does it for them).

But honestly, I don't know.

SO WHY DON'T DRAMACOOL (OR REPRESENTATIVES OF OTHER STREAMING SITES THAT TAKE OTHERS SUBS) COME HERE AND EXPLAIN IT THEMSELVES.

Intentionally written with capital letters to catch attention. :P

I really don't bother looking up what streaming sites do. All I can do is ask and hope subtitles isn't taken. And appreciate those who don't.

But we have the reverse going on as well, subtitles being ripped from streaming sites. (But what I know, those are not made money from).

In the end, everyone wants subtitles for things.

As it is now, I don't think it's possible to stop it. Unless there's some kind of new file format for subtitles that's not possible to be ripped or streamed.

Okay, done with the rant.

I mean, this's the worst.. I can't imagine myself opening a subtitle file and simply erasing the credits.. it's as same as throwing all these people's efforts in a trash bin.
But, what to say! money-hungry people like those won't have any kind of guiltiness whatsoever.
Well, for some reasons I do feel happy because it can reach more people who can enjoy watching the drama, but it feels bad also when I think of how they do that with ALL dramas & do not acknowledge all these translators & timers GREAT efforts. And yeah, thanks for that trick! Gotta do it on the next episode's sub file ;D

No worries at all! At first, I thought that I'll take forever on this, because tbh.. I'm such a bad 'perfectionist' and that's why also, I thought that I'll just trick myself & go over it by simply posting the sub as soon as I'm done.. but at the end, I couldn't help myself and went back to QC.. Lol.
Yes I agree.. people can wait, and so, I'll do my best NOT to rash in the next ones :)

YES, they are.. unfortunately!
And I feel bad now because for a very long period of time - as I'm not in Japan now but in Dubai - I kept watching the dramas on dramacool! did it mean that I was supporting on this indirectly? It makes me feel frustrated now.

Hahah, I hope it catches their attentions and they come explaining - and apologizing, Lol.
I see! but I think (well, you are the expert here) and as per what I saw, even when they take it from any streaming site, they do put proper credits for the original owner of the sub, right?
I think this's how it should be done even if the permission of using it wasn't maybe granted to them in-person.
I mean, keeping those credits won't harm.. I was shocked earlier when I didn't see those lines, they were just gone!! Haha.

Maybe something has a code or a PIN when you open the file to modify it? Lol, that'll be interesting.
No worries, enjoyed your inputs in this topic! thanks for the reply :)

Sorry. I'm not sure why they won't even give credit for the source. I download from here and get the videos from torrent or others that usually don't have the subs. They should at least give the credit because they don't do their own subbing.

Thank you very much for subbing this series!! I really apreciate all the effort, if it's not for you and the people who gave us raws and jnp subs, it would be impossible to see jadramas or any other series.

I don't like to stream on these sites either ): And it's upsetting that many uninformed dramas watchers think Dramacool and the like are the ones doing the subwork because those credits are removed :glare: For the most part I torrent or DDL raws to pair up with sub files, but sometimes I resort to illegal streaming sites when raws can't be found. Feels icky, which is partly why I hoard so many raws and certain hardsubbed files, lol.

Anyway, thanks for picking up Ashita no Yakusoku  It'll be a long while before I can understand even half of what's said in Jdramas without sub assistance, so your work is appreciated. Thank you! :D

Same folks running Dramacool under several domains. Probably meaning they have to do some webhost-hopping / hiding.

They have to. Most of the other Asian subs are from legit places who licensed the rights to the drama and pay companies to make subtitles. They probably send out DMCA's once in a while.
Upcoming: BORDER Shokuzai SP
Just done: Okusama wa, Tori Atsukai Chui (Complete)
Done: Puzzle, LIMIT, CRISIS, Thrill!, Kurokawa no Techo, Koori no Wadachi SP, BORDER: Shoudou Spin-Off (all here)

So I did contact Dramacool at their website, and I got an answer. Kind of.... Sorta... At least they replied :thumleft: , but it wasn't much of an answer to my question.

Sam.Nozomi wrote:P.s: Can someone tell me why Dramacool removes the credits from the sub files in its videos?
I mean not only mine, but also the original JPN sub owner and the timer's too... I don't really find that cool though! :-)

Streaming sites piss me A LOT srsly :cussing:

They don't have the slightest respect for the work of others, and the worst of the worst is when they remove credits. And a lot of blame is on the people who visit those sites instead of watching the original work.
Actually so many people stopped subbing because of this, and that is really sad.

This happens too with Spanish subtitles, actually my works are on a lot of these streaming sites, so I can understando your anger. Well in your case is even worst because Keiko's timing and your translation from Japanese is a lot more work, I know well.

So please, people... DON'T USE THIS KIND OF STREAMING SITES, for the sake of fansubbing.

Dramacool/nice websites have been closed down so many times, I wonder how they never to to jail or anything lol.
A supposed philippine male that runs it, but they're really fast at stealing subs and putting their logo on the videos. Not to mention the websites are filled with infected ads and other crap.
Just ignore their existence, if more people knew about the torrents stuff and how good it is in comparison to those virus-infected streaming websites, they would all use torrents.
*calmsdown*
I wanted to leave a comment thanking you for your hard work, not to mention you apologize and punish yourself for small errors that almost no one would have noticed or minded, you're passionate for sure (^w^). Your subs are one of the bests I've ever seen too, this drama is freaking good too, omg idk what I'm saying anymore. Thank you~ 너무 감사합니당~ ありがたり~

Episode 2 is out! Yay~!
Stop punishing yourself for such small mistakes, no one will hate you for it, and if anyone does I'll slap the life out of them :lol
I really love your subtitles, I can see the passion in them, it's like reading a good book at night while eating some cookies with milk *nomnomnom* (but while watching a drama) :3 I wish I could learn Japanese like that too, but sadly my brain is really against chinese characters, I wonder how you can memorize or understand words from Japanese voices... Big Respect! Senpai! Ganbatte! Soshite, daisssssukidayo~ (っ´▽`)っ ♥

edit: I'm lost as where to find the episode 2, the torrents only have episode 1, some korean website supposedly "has" them until episode 4 in 480p but I can't download them for some reason, I found them in 720p but with Chinese Subtitles on them, if anyone knows how or where to find them please message me~ (I don't mind the 480p x264 ver.) <3
