Saikou no Rikon Ep 10 Eng Sub

Postby Docnty » Sun Sep 22, 2013 7:37 pm

Thank you so much xxo for helping Koitsu out with these subtitles. Great job, keep up the really great work, I believe I posted the same above, but it's worth mentioning again.

Could someone guide me in the right path as to requesting some subs to be added for the Drama series, "Kabachitare", there are 9 episodes to the series, but only 2 are subtitled, I really enjoyed the first two episodes, but I don't know my Japanese nowheres enough to be able to translate. Any help would be most greatly appreciated... The series stars the beautiful and very famous actress Tokiwa Takako, as well with, Fukatsu Eri, Karina, Shinohara Ryoko, Yamashita Tomohisa, and many more. Anyway, if someone could lead me to where I need to properly ask, I'd most greatly appreciate it, thank you so kindly. :-)

I'm sure it's an easy (1-2 minute) fix with a sub editing program. If anyone does that, please post for others.

I might have missed the post if that's the case.

Xxo offered to help with the last two episodes and Koitsu was fine with this (this post is in the original thread of the subtitles):

koitsu wrote:Hey xxo, go for it if you have the time. I'll get around to it when I can as well, but having multiple options can't hurt for the people patiently waiting.

It wasn't dropped. It was taking Koitsu a long time to finish; as with all subbers, life got in the way I guess. The people were restless, so xxo decided to sub the last 2. Koitsu said he will finish his subs when he can get around to it, but also that it's nice for people to have options.

As a fansuber myself with years of experience, I can just tell you that you probably wont see another sub here from koitsu. (at best he would finish this, but someone else took over so the probability is converging more to zero)

Saw alot people who once put the focus on something else and never really subbed again. The subscence of jdrama is anyways pretty small. Be happy with what you get. And better dont start watching them before they are finished.

I just need Koitsu to say a word here :) If he say he can't finish it then i will gladly move on and watch something else and if he can , i will wait till he is done with it . At least i hope Koitsu can give us a answer without us being left here wondering if he will sub the 2 final eps

Yeah, I'd say it's closer to 80-90%. Some things that have slowed it down-

-timing. Some of the conversations are very fast paced and I want the timing to be exact and the translation accurate as I can while keeping the lines at readable length within those small windows. Result is listening to lines over and over and over, thinking too hard about single lines. The Japanese sub I've been working with is about .3-.7 seconds off, so almost every line needed/needs minor adjustment.
-humor. It can be a funny show and I don't want to slaughter the humor, so (again) I sometimes end up thinking a bit too hard about single lines.

Ahh....This is exactly what fansubbers face with every episode. The very time consuming process of translation, timing and thinking very hard on single lines.

After all the many hours spent on the first time, you re-watch and re-read again the lines all over again just to make sure it's right....AND that's just the second time. There's maybe 4 or 5 times more to go before being finally satisfied. One single episode can take many days just to be released and if you're working....it may take weeks or months....

It's a tough job. VERY TOUGH JOB.

However the job is faster and easier if there's many people involved. XD

I think it depends on the project. For example, Shingeki no Kyojin subs are out less than a day after the show aired.

saikou no rikon is just a difficult project.

I wonder how a drama can be difficult to translate ? Is it the way they express themselves since its a mature drama ?

for this particular drama, saikou no rikon, the characters talk so fast especially during argument parts. if I'll translates it literally, or word for word, it will be like 1 paragraph all at once coz they do say a lot. and as xxo just said, he is trying his best not to butcher the humor this drama has which can be lost when translated to English. :-)

just my take on the issue :P
