Tenchijin 06 [704x400][x264][EngSub].mkv

Postby XrayMind » Sat Apr 25, 2009 10:23 pm

Ok, I am trying to make the most streaming unfriendly video file with this test video file. I choose to use .mkv format, it is the least supported format on the different streaming sites. I also mess around with video and audio tracks. I won't go into what I did, but it makes it very difficult to convertt it to .avi format or split it up into smaller chucks. In doing so, some media players will have issue playing this file correctly.

Here are some test results. Note, this file has mkv chaptering.

Media Player Classic/Home Cinema - plays fine, it will ignore the what I did.
Windows Media Player(w/ right codec pack) - plays fine, it will ignore what I did.
VLAN(on Mac/PC) - will not play correctly.
Popcorn Hour A-110(shoud be same for WD media player) - use chapter skip to go around what I did.
XBMC on old XBOX(doesn't support .mkv chaptering) - but you use the regular skip to go around what I did.
Mplayer(on Linux/Mac/PC) - same as XBMC, since XBMC is using Mplayer, try to use seek to go around what I did when it stops playing.
BSplayer(doesn't support .mkv chaptering) - try to use seek to around around what I did.

The source of the video is from digital standard definition broadcast. It wasn't HD, so it had black bars on the top and bottom. I did crop those out. The video is re-encoded h.264/x264, because it product a smaller file size. It is encoded in such a way even the computer with CPU 1Ghz or geater should be able to play it. My old XBOX w/ XBMC can decode the video w/ it's slow CPU running at 733Mhz.

Sorry, no MP4 ASP avi version will be release for those with stand alone XviD/DivX player.

I am not saying what I did will stop jerk faces of the world from uploading this video to any streaming site. But it will just make it a hassle in doing so. Again, this is a test trial for me. I will upload couple more episodes with what I did, but there is no guarantee that I will continues with more episodes after that.
Please do not PM me about seeding any of my old torrents, as most of files that had uploaded are no longer on my computer.

Thanks, Xraymind! This looks great, way, waaayy better than KTSF broadcast I watch (here I go again). Love the small size of the file and, yes, it plays perfectly on WMP.

Thank you so much for picking up the ball on the 5 yard line and going with it. I think the idea of MKV files is a fine way to go.

Thank you so much Xraymind. Koalasub seem to lose interest in this drama, I guess they are angry because someone has post the drama at streaming site.

Really like this drama (my first period drama) very entertaining.

Great idea with mkv file, so those bad people cannot post it at streaming again.
i like the smaller file, faster to download.

(Those who cant play this drama, just download the codecc and mediaplayer classic.)

Thanks again.

Nicely done. I had 1x07 and 1x11 ready to upload in .avi too. Good idea using the .mkv container.

People can still circumvent .mkv but it's still a bit of a pain for them if they plan on pulling the files out of it. So this is a welcome addition.

Exactly what is "1x07", "1x11", etc? I know that 7 and 11 are episode numbers, but the "1x" doesn't seem to mean anything.

1x is how I seperate seasons. Less space than type ep0 etc.

Hence 2x would be a season 2 if there was one.
But I've named them differently this time out.

The "experiment" here with MKV is to see just how persistent these streamers are. The AVI format is just too easy to upload. If the streamers do indeed succeed in streaming the MKV file, then it basically tells us that they are not playing stupid, and that they are indeed persistent and will continue to stream with vigor. I mean, streaming is easy money for these guys! If it is lucrative enough, then sure they'll work on a given episode for HOURS in order to get it streamed.

Yes we shall see how persistent they are. I can do .mkv container too if necessary

But let's see if any streaming site miraculously has an hardsubbed episode 6 in the next few days. Xray, start the clock.

eye, I hear you. I support matroska too. Still waiting for standalone players that will play them.

I have episode 7 and 11 done. They are VHSRips in an .mkv container, I refuse to pay extra for digital when Oceanic's broadcast is not worth it.

I cropped out the letterbox. They don't look as well as XRayMind;s but ARE complete. Yes they have the history at the end. I'm working on T12 which aired Tuesday night.

I realize it's not fair to those of you in other countries that have governments that don't appreciate asian influences and thereby refuse to let you see what other countries have the priviledge of seeing.

In the future I may just upload .ass files for the episodes only. This would eliminate the hardsubs being uploaded on my end and allow for the .ass to be used with the pre-existing 720ps

And we're off.

Ehhh! I have a MAC and can't use Windows Media Classic Player on MAC OS X... I tried two places to download and install and neither worked.

I am so sad!! I wish you would have this work with VLC!

For all the folks with Macs, You can play these with Mplayer for OS X. But you will have to skip past the bad part.

The operator of PublicBitTorrent told TorrentFreak that extra servers are on the way. Hopefully this will solve the problems, but it is expected to take up to a week before everything’s setup properly.
