Thank you so much for this!

I noticed that the video bit rate is decreasing for each episode. I would suggest to decrease the audio bit rate instead to decrease file size. 1400 Kbps for audio is IMHO a little bit over the top. If you decrease audio bit rate to about 128 and increase video bite rate again to about 1500 encoding results would be much better with smaller file size. (No one is able to hear the difference between 1400 and 128 anyway)
Please don't take this as criticism, but as a suggestion.

Actually it seems that the audio track sounds mono on these Koala Fansubbed releases. I thought about remixing the audio using our KIKU TV Hawaii eps which are broadcast in stereo, except KIKU has sound issues with episodes, like warble. Like last night's re-airing of Tenchijin, during Brother Beat and during Around 40 also.

Too bad that.

I don't think it was KIKU's fault. I record off the DTV broadcast, and last night's audio was just fine. More likely it was your TV provider (Time-Warner, etc.) As as matter of fact, I constantly had audio and video problems with TW when it came to KIKU shows, which is why I no longer watch KIKU through TW.

Hey Obama cant stop Rockets from being over atop Japan, either. So I dont think anyone of us can stop anyone from keystroking someones good intentions from streaming out of control. It actually sounds like my parents description of some 60's fantasy about peace. .Life has always been frustrating, last year someone uploaded the NHK dorama and got all non japanese speakers hopes up, and 5 episodes later, they dropped off radar like a freefall with no chute
I guess the only thing to say about this sad Tenchijin situation is even when you pay the cable companies you don't get what you pay for and the great thing about d-addicts it is only donation friendly. There is no cost except the cost of separation. But isn't that where the name of the site came from.

Since KaneyamaBoy seems to have stopped subbing these, I think the next option then is to upload the broadcast KIKU TV versions for you. We have the history beginnings and endings on each episode that you folks don't seem to get on your broadcasts. It says it's broadcast in stereo but I don't hear it.

So I cannot give you a timeline, I'm missing the first few episodes (didn't think I'd need to keep them). I'll start torrenting the KIKU TV versions for you folks soon as possible. Nicely subtitled by Ann Hameda and friends at KIKU.

Please standy.

Hi folks. Currently encoding Episode 1x10- Two Adopted Sons.
The audio is stereo, just isn't broadcast in surround. I've decided to use AC3 encoding for audio so none of the quality is lost.

Question:

do you guys care if the file size is 700MB? Or would you like it larger? I'm thinking the extra size might be unecessary since I am pulling this from VHS tape and cleaning up the noise. Tonight KIKU is airing 1x11- Otate no Ran. Will try and have that one torrented before Friday.

I'll be physically gone from Hawaii for a over a month this October so hopefully we have a new fansubbing group by then?

Please standby while I encode and QC 1x10

Hi, Kaneyamaboy,

Thank you very much for your efforts There are 5 great episodes. I really do hope that you didn#t stop to upload this series. The suploads in the mkv format we can find latest on this site are unfortunately useless to me, as I cannpt convert them to a dvd or at least aviölike format. Whats more I prefer the quality of your work - as we can see on exccellent Sanada Taiheiki episodes. Don't get depressed f some scavengers rip your efforts and load them on streaming sites. Theft of intellectual property is the most sincere form of compliment. There always were a-holes, they are still among us and they will never die. So what the heck, don#t give up, ever, and don't give the field compleatly to people who are experimentuing with user-unfriendly formats. It would be great to get the episodes in diferent formats. So, everybody would be happy.
Best wishes, Chris

Please note that XrayMind's files are not regular MKV files. They are deliberately broken so that playback is impossible without manually skipping the damaged part. You won't experience any of these issues with valid MKV files (e.g. those released by Querbeet).

It's OK to be upset about this, but please don't blame the format. XrayMind is not releasing valid MKV files.

I want to tell you, INCA I am a big fan of the Geography lesson usually brought by JTB. So lets hear it for beginnings and Endings. Many blessings INCA and may long live Kaneyamaboy, where ever he may be. Somewhere between Seattle and Sekigahara I suspect.

eye, XRayMind's episode was playable all the way through with Media Player Classic. I only use the CCCP which supports a slew of compatability.

Yes even in Windows 7

I analyzed episode 6. The reason why most players won't play this file properly is because it contains garbage data at timecode offset 1:29. You can see the damage in MKVInfo which is part of the de-facto Matroska reference tool chain. Any player/demuxer that fully implements the Matroska standard and parses the EBML structure properly will fail to demux this file.

Exploiting bugs in existing MKV splitters to introduce a mock-up DRM scheme is a stupid idea. It serves no purpose other than to destroy confidence in MKV as an AVI successor. It jeopardizes the efforts of those who created the format.

eye: Thank you for the explanation. It helps to understand what's going on. Till now I never had any problems with mkv format, which has many advantages. But such "experiments" like this one can really shake one's confidence in a format - specially for average users not caring too much about technical matters.

I don't know how it is with you, but I have the feeling that we are dealing here with a new level of copy protection. Am I too sensitive or is there something in it?

Best wishes to everybody helping to clearify this matter.
