Ainori 2006-02-06

Postby Notautark » Mon Feb 06, 2006 3:05 pm

Hi, I'm Notautark. This file is a huge MPEG (about 1 G), so it's good quality, but probably hell to download for those of you with slower connections. Please let me know if you'd like me to upload a converted MP4 file too, which would be easier to download, but of lesser quality. Have fun!

Hi, "Not Autark", glad to see someone taking over. We'll sure miss the old Autark, though.

Ok, guys, my weelky summary is ready, and I'm working on the little treat, as usual.

WARNING: THIS IS A SPOILER!

thank you so much, notautark! I thought with autark gone, I'd not be able to watch ainori anymore.
Really appreciate that and can't express enough gratitude for this one!

first of all thank you so much for keeping up uploading ainori :lol

as for the lesser quality file, maybe 186 is too small, maybe you could carry on with the around 300mb file, that's good enough for good quality :) i would also prefer divx or xvid to mp4 as they are more standarized and i can see them on the dvd player at the tv. but it's just my suggestion, anything you upload will be welcome. thank you!

Thanks for carrying on uploading Ainori.

Although I do agree that ~1Gb for a 30 minute variety show is pretty excessive. I think most of us were pleased with the ~300 MB .avi version of the show - it makes it quick to download, burn to DVDs to watch on DVD players that support .avi and .mpeg, and also easy for the crew that subs Ainori to subtitle.

Please consider uploading future episodes in a ~300 MB .avi format.
Upcoming Publications:
August 5: Tsukuyomi v.11 / TOKYOPOP
November 4: Captive Hearts v.1 / VIZ
December 2: St. Dragon Girl v.1 / VIZ

Captive Hearts will be appearing in the October issue of Shojo Beat - available SEPTEMBER 16!!

Thanx 4 the feedback, everybody. As I said, I'm new at this and I bought my TV tuner less than 48 hours ago so I'm still experimenting. I tried to convert the MPEG file to an AVI, but it gave me a huge file twice as big! The MP4 format I converted the file into is the best resolution I can get with my software. If any of you could suggest a (preferably) free encoder software, I'll be glad to try it out. I can't promise anything about the other shows Autark was upping, but I'll see what I can do if you guys have some requests. Full titles and airing time would be appreciated, too.

Ok, after experimenting with a number of software which all refused to read my original MPEG, I discovered there was one included with my tuner (dooh!) :x The bad news is even if I was able to convert it into an AVI file, the sound gets more and more out of sync as the file plays, to the point where it becomes absolutely unbearable towards the end. Anyone has a clue how to fix this? If some of you could try converting the huge file I upped (those who had the patience to download it, anyway) and succeed, just tell me how to do it and I'll be ready to up a perfect file hopefully for next week's episode. BTW, thanx for all kind words, I appreciate it!

You can DL the file with a Bit Torrent Client such as Bit Torrent @ http://www.bittorrent.com/ or Bit Tornado @ http://www.bittornado.com/

Notautark:

If you're able, Autark used to post a show called "Trivia no Izumi" which comes on Fuji TV at 9 on Wednesdays... Also the show Sui10 that comes on after it is pretty awesome too...

Thanks Notautark.
I'm getting some strange results with this file. No complaints here, because the smaller version works fine.

I just thought I'd give you some feedback since I know that you are trying to tweak a better file format as you become our Ainori dealer. We all depend on you for our weekly habit.

I'm using Mac OS X.
This file will only play on VLC. It displays as a 640x480 pixel video.
QuickTime Player tells me it's a 1x39 pixel video, MPEG2 muxed. Won't play anything.
MPlayer (usually Mr. Dependable) will only play the sound. Its info box is telling me that it is a 320x240 pixel video.
I tried to convert it with ffmpegX, which usually handles anything. Its info box tells me it is 0x0 pixels. It tries to convert to 640x272(?) . . . but gives me strange error messages that I have never seen and won't convert it to any of various formats.

That's my two bits of input.

Did you convert the smaller file from this larger file? If so, maybe a 640x480 version in the same format would appease the masses (with file size and video size) and not be too difficult to do.

Once again, thanks for your efforts.

Autark,

. . . Autark makes a guest appearance in the shrine he/she created . . .

Autark, as you can see, there is an interesting conversation going on about how to make the ideal Ainori release.
Can you offer any suggestions from your past experience???

Sorry Mentos, that was a stupid reply. The file should play fine with Quick Time or Real Player, but it will play in the latest version of WMP (keep it upgraded!) even if it says it can't find the proper codex. Just ignore the error messages and play it.

I just wanna say that everybody has been very supportive so far, on the forum and through PMs, too, and I really appreciate it. I've been in contact with Autark, too, and I'll probably be able to figure out how to make proper files by next week. A little more patience, please...

Works fine

Postby bbathome » Wed Feb 08, 2006 10:15 am

@notautark: The file was huge - the download took long - but the result was very GOOD! :-)
I played it with vlc on XP.

I would prefer a smaller version (around 300-400MByte) - mainly because of the long download time.

BUT: Thank you sooooooooo much for doing this job. It was interesting to see that the commercials are different from autark as you are somewhere near Sendai. Greetings to you and keep up the great work! :thumleft:

Finally! The Special treat for non-Japanese speakers is ready. As usual, you'll find the link at the bottom of my summary.
