i have found the quality of both the video and the subtitles to vary greatly on purchased j-dorama dvd's. I think it depends alot where you buy it from. also alot of sites will distinguish between vcd and dvd quality, but if a whole drama series fits on 1 dvd, it's not going to be great quality i do...
