You guys rock so hard. I've been waiting for this drama for so long, and you did an amazing job on the subs, making it possible for me to give such a great drama the level of appreciation it deserves. When I get back stateside from Seoul after spring break I'm going to send you all soju so we can to...

are there any groups thinking of picking this short series up? it came highly recommended from my friends, mostly popular among academia and the salarymen, though it never had mass appeal the way 'ikemen paradise' and such would

it's quite classic in the 'extreme horror' category of asian films that miike is well known for. Audition was 2 hours of slow, draggy buildup to a *really* freaky 10-20 minutes. I think that made it much more... intense than Ichi the killer, which was pretty weird already from the get-go. Ah, they d...

First off, take a chill pill and relax. There are 10 stories. Every other story is a variation on one of them. Asian stories are no exception. We should be glad that asian films are getting some kind of attention, even if its not the full attention you think it should be getting. Remakes are not alw...

You're entitled to your opinion on the value of american cultural exports vis-a-vis european or asian material but I think it would be terribly selfish and terribly shortsighted of you to impose that opinion on the capacities of millions to make that judgement for themselves. 'Cultural' prote...

the recent unesco cultural-protectionism bill that was passed will only make it harder (or more expensive) to get your imports (dvd box sets etc) and localizations. those bastards

btw the US is the only major country who opposed the bill, rock on US.

I think that the most popular anime exports tend to get so much localization that they lose their japanese-ness. I also think the most popular (by that i mean mainstream, not popular within our particular niche interest group) anime exports are specifically targeted at export - that is, the gundams ...

i'm looking forward to it, but am a bit skeptical that they will be able to capture the depth of the anime series. The anime just had that much more screen time to develop the characters and their relationships. It's been a while since I saw saikano but I recall there was a substantial amount of tim...
