The Unofficial Wuxia Series of the Month (February 2008)

Welcome to February 2008's Unofficial Wuxia Series of the Month (WSoTM) Poll.

As the name implies, the WSoTM is dedicated to seeding completed Wuxia drama series—with ENGLISH subs. Note that WSotM is not official yet. This poll is intended to be a test run. At the moment, I will be responsible for the seeding of the selected WSotM.

I would appreciate if you're also willing to help seed. PM me. Thanks.

The vote shall run until January 31, 2008. The seeding shall commence at February 1, 2008. So, cast your vote now!

If this one proves to be successful, I will open nominations for the next WSotM.

Magical Physician/Genius Healer is an absolutely wonderful show! I actually own 2 legal copies of it (one good quality, one compressed) and countless "other" copies of it as well. It comes highly recommended for anybody who likes drama, romance, and comedy.

I love that we now have this thread...or I hope this becomes official. Wuxia should have a series of the month on its own. It just takes your imagination elsewhere, totally bringing out your fantasy side you can't quite get with modern series. Although I do believe that wuxia is biased toward boys because the girls in them are so much prettier in ancient dresses, and modern series are more biased toward girls with all their eyecandy. With that being said....

I was soo hyped up when Genius Physician Ti Ying came out, as I watched all of Alyssa Chia's series and also most of Gao Yuan Yuan's series, it kind of left me hanging at the end like "what the hell, this series has a crazy story" feeling. Don't get me wrong, watching Alyssa and YuanYuan share all the screen time is worth sitting there for 30 hours. I also loved both the beginning and ending theme song (anyone have the full ending theme song? I've been trying to find it forever). Great series overall if you didn't have huge expectations like I had.

I absolutely love that series. I originally watched it Cambodian dubbed about a few years back, maybe 2 or so years. I was kinda disappointed that my mom didn't record it while we had it since we rented it. Around last year, I saw it playing on CCTV and my mom asked me, "Have we seen this series before?" I looked at it and recognized it right away, I was like, "It's that series we watched awhile back!" Haha, I remembered every single detail as I explained it to her. Tongue

Everyone should definitely watch this, it's a great show and I highly recommend it. thumright

My choice is on "The Return of Condor Heroes 1983".

i'm hoping to download this and share it with my parents. I'm sure they miss some of the better TVB dramas from the 80's.

@bjharm: I doubt it. It's probably Fall 2008. For June / July, it's going to be Duke of Mt. Deer 2008.

Taiji Prodigy and Miracle Healers.... oh the decisions...

I'll have to go with Taiji Prodigy, the martial arts settings is what I yearn for the most in a wuxia series.

I didn't enjoy Taiji Prodijy at all. I would recommend watching TVB's 1996 武当张三丰 (Wudang Zhang San Feng) starring Eddie Kwan instead. I enjoyed that one much better. I don't know the official english title for it though.

Ahh, I'll take your advice. I saw some parts of the new Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre and it pales in comparision to the 2000 one. So this might be the case too. Go figure =p
