I just finished this drama a few days ago, and to be honest I thought it wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. Though there were a lot of interesting & engaging scenes, there was an equal amount of boring or seemingly pointless sub-plots that made the series seem longer than eleven episodes.

And for some reason I didn't feel any chemistry between Yuki & Mio at the end of the drama. I was hoping for a little more story-line or screen time between the two of them, but the story focused more on other things like Mio's relationship with her brother, or Mio's character development.

Overall, First Kiss was pretty good; although I'm not sure if I would sit through the whole series again-maybe just occasionally to look at/copy Mao's outfits (they were so cute!) Big Smile

i just finished the drama that was really good
and about the ending seems like there should be a continuation like a special or another season?

Synopsis

dramawiki: Inoue takes on the role of Mio, a selfish brat. Because of an incurable illness, she lives in the U.S. for medical treatment, but she returns to Japan to visit her older brother (Hideaki Ito), whom she has been separated from since their parents' divorce. She discovers that he's become a good-for-nothing, employed at a show bar and fallen into debt

jade_frost's translation: When Ikki meets Mio again, she suddenly thrusts his 15 year-old promise at him. "Oni-chan, you took my first kiss. At that time you promised ..."

Memories of the mistaken kiss when Mio was 5 resurfaces in Ikki's mind. "I will grant your wish anytime."

And so, it is decided that Ikki will fulfill his sister's different wishes.

He soon comes to know of her first wish. Mio wants to be in love. Then Mio meets a trainee doctor ... ... Can Ikki really give Mio the present of a first kiss?

Inoue Mao - Fukunaga Mio (20)
Mio's parents divorced 10 years ago. To treat her illness, she lived with her mother in America. Mio decides to return to Japan before a difficult surgery. She was a loveable girl in the past but has now become a conceited and wilful girl because of her illness.

Ito Hideaki - Kano Ikki (2 Cool

Mio's older brother, a cameraman's assistant. He has lived alone ever since his father found a new wife. He's a womaniser, and on the verge of being sacked, has been leading an aimless life.

Hiraoka Yuuta - Yuuki Akio (26)
A trainee doctor at the hospital Mio is admitted. He was scolded by Mio while administering the intravenous drip but they strangely hit it off. Akio later helps Mio but spurred by their respective predicaments, each adopts an aloof attitude towards the other.

Matsuyuki Yasuko - Takagi Renko (33)
Mio's attending physician. She was put in charge of Mio when she was training in America. Ikki is captivated by her cool, sexy demeanour but Renko, whose work involves saving lives, has no interest in a womaniser like Ikki.
Abe Sadayo - Nikaido Masaru (30)
A stylist assistant who lives together with Ikki. He recklessly entered the fashion world but hasn't made much headway.
Gekidan Hitori - Shido Ichiryu (2 Cool

A makeup assistant who lives together with Ikki. It's his parents' home but he's somehow stuck with doing all the housework. Is he gay?
Sakai Wakana - Saito Haruna (27)
A fashion magazine model and bank employee who thinks she's Ikki's lover. She gets to know Mio by chance. They develop good rapport and become good friends.
Natsuki Mari - Fukunaga Rieko (50)
Mio's mother. A career woman who works in a top American firm. She pours her energy into her work. Everything she does is motivated by her desire to see her daugther healthy.
Takenaka Naoto - Banda Dai (50)
Ikki's teacher. He's harsh towards his assistant but recognises his talent.
Warabino Tomoya - Shohata Takeo (22)
A cameraman's assistant. He first started out under Ikki but has now become the chief assistant. He's diligent and talented and dislikes Ikki.

I admit, this drama isn't very...interesting during some scenes...
But I mean, I guess it's primary focus is also on the relationship between Mio and her brother...
And then you have Yuki-sensei (What a cutie, btw Big Smile

)....
I'm almost finished with the series...And it's interesting enough to have me watch 3 episodes straight? lol.
I love Inoue Mao..she's a really good actress!

I found this series enjoyable though agree that with so many different stories to carry through, it weakened it. At least I thought they tried to tie it all up...some other dramas, they just seem to chop it off and the viewer is left with scratch

It would be nice to see a SP follow-up about Mio and the pretty doc along with Kazu being a photographer. Smile

First Kiss hmmm wasn't all that engaging, there wasn't much of a story and it all seemed devoid of any real emotion....It was also kinda cliched and nothing happened, nothing at all. Mao as Mio was Wub

~ Full of kawaiiness and was the only reason I watched it.....And maybe its only me but the hug between Mio and the doc near the end of ep 10 lacked any real feeling...I couldn't feel the love between them, same with the kiss in the final episode no passion there at all, I don't think they had any real chemistry

I just can't believe this lasted 11 eps!!!! I was like seriously how did such a dorama last so long.... scratch

.....I'd have ended it at round 2eps max and thats stretching it!

Finally got around to watching this show. It was slow most of the time, but as always I enjoy Japanese culture so I gleefully endured it. I can't seemed to get Gekidan Hitori as Guitar Otoko in Densha Otoko out of my mind when I see him. Although the gay character he played in Stand Up! was a refreshing change.
I like Mao's acting (right of the back of HYD2R) and I could see the expressions of similarity to it. Smile

I loved the summer wind chime at the house they all lived in too. All in all good fun but slow and rather pointless in some places.

i thought this drama was decent..i mean i agree with many of you that it wasn't as heart throbbing kinda drama and the end sort of bored me...
but it was okay and i liked it. =]

weird question, but does ANYONE know where i can get a replica of her necklace? O__O the necklace where she keeps her emergency pills in? Its sooo pretty and...lol i love buying replicas of stuff from dramas. pinch

ii think this was the very japanese drama ii ever finishedlol
ii watched a bunch at a time and this was the first one that
ii got to finish^^lol ii really love that hiraoka yuuta and
inoue mao was in it. ii really liked her in HYD and yuta starred
in a bunch of dramas but ii think this was his first lead role in
a drama^^ he is soooo adorable, ii just loved his role in this
drama. ii just can't resist that smile of his^^
