Surprise there hasn't been a thread a here for her or in Soompi..
after watching Soulmate, I thought people would start noticing her.
She may not look as good as Song Hye Gyo or as popular as Kim Tae Hae, but she has her own charisma that lights up the screen.

I loved Soulmate but it wasn't because of her. She's just a bit too....plain. Too bland, you know what I mean? She doesn't exude the same star qualities as some of the other actresses and I can only see her playing support roles rather than leads.

I don't mean to be negative but that's just my opinion.

EXACTLY what i thought at first.
she was actually one of the reason that made me set aside Soulmate for awhile. Skimming through it I thought she looked too plain and didn't deserve to even grace the screen as a lead.. but SOMEHOW i started to like her..
At first I thought she kinda looked like Han Ji Hye (not really a fan of her looks..), but later on I saw some Matsu Takako (the Japanese actress) in her.

although later on in the series.. she started to get bangs.. bad move, but she still looked good. She has the girl next door look.

I watched Soulmate and thought she was just lovely. I'm glad she doesn't do only supportive roles because she's a great actress. I was thinking about making a thread for her a while ago.

Cute clip, and yes, the dreaded bangs. Why do a lot of Korean actresses insist on having bangs? No one looks good with them except for Kim Eugene, but only because of her enormous forehead.

Wasn't always that way actually. Go back toward the mid-90s, and most actresses were proud to show the forehead (and purple-tinged lipstick!) Big Smile Nowadays can't look authentically FOB without bangs and clothes worn inside out! Big Smile

Bangs brings focus toward the brows, makes eyes look larger (by virtue of making eyes larger in relation to face area),, and can emphasize different face shapes. It's a good way to "fake" oval facial structure (i.e. V-shape), since most Korean and Japanese actresses (and Jr-level Johnny boys are great with the bangs!) feature either a higher forehead or narrower face.

But I think it's a disconnect between, say, Asian-Asian and Western-Asian tastes. A lot of guys I know can't stand it anymore than a lot of girlfriends think both Rain and Seven would register high on Western gaydar. Big Smile
