KeyHoleTV is a Windows and Linux P2PTV application that broadcasts all the regular Japanese TV channels (with the exception of NHK) and the occasional American channel, webcam, or whatever random thing that might pop up. With this program, you can stream Japanese channels in real-time. The quality of the audio and video isn't that great, unfortunately. The sound can be downright terrible, especially when music performances or loud audiences are involved. But overall, it's decent enough to hold us over until the show is uploaded or a better-quality alternative comes along.

To install, go to http://www.v2p.jp/video/Viewer/ and download the latest installation file (currently version 3.08 ). It's updated somewhat often, so you may want to check back now and again.

The program is simple and pretty self-explanatory. To watch a channel, double-click the channel you want under the Program tab and you are set.

Double-clicking on the viewing screen opens up a separate viewing window, which may be resized by dragging the corners with your mouse or by using the keyboard's arrow keys. (The arrow keys keeps the size proportionate.)

Channel Listing: (frequently updated - current as of August 24, 2008)

The channel names don't appear to be the actual names of the channels, so it took me a while to figure out which one was which since I can't read anything other than English fluently. Roll Eyes If anyone understands what they say, I'd be interested in knowing what they mean. Anyway, here's a little guide for identifying the channels -- find the channel by using the names/labels.

= Fuji TV
= NTV
= TBS
= TV Asahi
= TV Tokyo

Edit April 10

Another option for watching these channels is through TVUPlayer, another P2PTV application. I haven't used it extensively yet, but so far the quality seems to be a bit better than KHTV. However, there is a delay in TVUPlayer's streaming that causes it to be a minute or so behind KHTV. The channels available include Fuji TV, NTV, TV Asahi, TBS, and several other Japanese stations.

The installation file may be downloaded at http://pages.tvunetworks.com/downloads/player.html . To find the channels, sort the channel list by language or scroll down and find them by number.

67620: Fuji TV
67621: NTV
67622: TV Asahi
67623: TBS

Yahoo!Japan TV: http://tv.yahoo.co.jp/

MSN: http://tv.msn.co.jp/
ONTV JAPAN: http://www.ontvjapan.com/

And that's it. Happy watching! Big Smile

Edit Feb. 12
Temporary/Unstable Channels:

= AT-X
= TV Setouchi (TSC)
= SBS TV
= ABC TV (Asahi Broadcasting Corporation)
= ytv (Feb. 10)
= ytv (Feb. 11)

As noted before, a lot of random TV channels/webcams/radio stations pop up from time to time, but most do not stay very long. The above temp channels are local stations from various cities. In some cases, the same KHTV channel may broadcast different stations -- for example, showing TSC at one point and then shifting to TBS later. It's a pain to keep up with all of them, so for this reason the standard channels will have the update priority.

That's really cool. There seems to be a windows mobile version too. I'm tempted to install it and get charged a million dollars by Cingular ~_~
