| Mediacoder can convert rm or rmvb files into MP4. D/L is free.

and does that program compress the files too? im not familiar with the formats for dvd player out there but which is the smallest format ?

| Depends on the specs. If higher quality sought, file size will be bigger. Usually MP4 makes file size smaller (e.g. from avi)

| Hi there, I've used WINAVI to convert RMVB files to AVI. I can recommend this as if you need to convert to files recognised by standalone DVD (divx capable) players.

I d/l this program for free once (freetrial) but after converting, the winavi sign appeared in the middle of my TV screen!
