Hi, I would really like to join, but I'm new to these things, and need some coaching. I can't translate, but I'm familiar with Virtual Dub/VobSub and Subtitle Workshop, I did some re-timing and converting soft subs onto hard subs to make DVDs for myself (so I can watch it on TV, not just on the computer), but that's all. So if you can use me - please let me know, I'll be very happy to help. Smile

@Yolizee.. I dunno how to explain what is YDY but it is sumthg like you know in some korean series especially the new ones that you can grab from ckubbox, they have this mickey's version so YDY is something like that. YDY version is gd compare to icefish especially in terms of audio.

With Mop Girl schedule for airing on the 12th October, we are still looking for Japanese Translators to help us out. If you dun have any experience in translating b4 but wish to help us out, you are more than welcome to join our fansub group by either registering at our forum or you can pm SacredCultivator.

We will also be subbing Bull Fighting starred by Hebe, Lee Wei & Mike He which will air sometime in Nov 2007. Chinese Translators are very much welcome to join us. All other positions are also open.

What does a timer do? I'd be willing to help out, if it's something I can learn ^__^ If it helps, I have a degree in Japanese.

@nyxed: Simply put... a Timer 'times' the duration that a Sub appears/shows up on screen.

It also depends on the Group as some do have strict rules on how they want their timing done, although I am sure more are pretty okay with anything as long as it is bearable. Pretty easy position to do/learn BUT you definitely need a LOT of patience. WHich also depends on how much dialog / how FAST a given line is spoken.

And yeah depending on how well you are can determine how long it takes you to do a show.. I mean for Liar Game Finale I took 16 hours =X, whereas for the other episodes it ranged from 3-6 hours, and I am pretty experienced, and yeah a few other members in the Group are learning to Time as well, and hehe yeah for example,

Mop Girl, the Opening Song (ERIKA - Destination Nowhere) I took roughly an hour ish to General Time (Not by syllable) AND K-Time (By syllable) whereas it took another member 'forever' lol she didn't state a given time.

But yeah, I am sure if you are willing to learn how to Time, you can sign up at our Forums and someone will be kind enough to help guide you in the right direction, as hehe I am too busy with other things at the moment.

Hehe reread your post, and with a Degree in Japanese.. Hmm would that mean you could actually do Translations? As heck it would be nice to have another Translator hop on-board to help us with Mop Girl.

I don't think I'm really ready for translations--they don't really teach you slang at school, so people talking to each other really trips me up. ;) I could probably check translations, but coming up with them would be another can of worms. T__T I'll check out your forums, thanks! Smile
