Just for curiosity's sake: what were the dramas that had you checking for the next episode all the time (and watching immediately upon release) until you declared them totally disappointing after having seen the last episode?

Lovers in Paris....

i waited anxiously for each episode to come out and expected an ending that would have me swooning with happiness or sympathizing with a great deal of sadness if it wasn't a happy ending..

it turned out to be neither...

i might have to even take that off my list of my Top 5 favorite dramas....ending was disappointing and could have been better.... Sad

Usually, I don't pay attention to soundtracks or scores a lot because I'm quite horrible with remembering the rhythms... I don't have a top 5... but I certainly liked the music from

Autumn Tale (a.k.a Endless Love) Wub Wub Wub
I'm Sorry, I love U - Crying
Winter Sonata - i loved the songs sang by Ruy... and the scores

As for my top 5 dramas

K-DRAMAS
All about eve
Lover in Paris
Ruler of your own world
Attic Cat
Full house

J-DRAMAS
Beautiful Life
GTO
Kimi wa Petto
Artificial Beauty
Summer Snow

HK-Dramas
DIF 1-4

TOP 5 DRAMAS
1. Long Vacation
2. GTO
3. Wedding Planner
4. Tengoku Ni Ichiban Chikai Otoko / Heaven Cannot Wait

and....er......

5. (it's a tossup between)

Blackjack Ni Yoroshiku
Trick 1
Kamisama Mou Sukoshi Dake
Orange Days

Big Smile I guess it would seem like I cheated Big Smile I can't help it! It's so difficult to choose just 5. I only posted jdramas cause I can't seem to get into kdramas....too long :-/ Also too melodramatic, and characters seem to be kind of, well, extreme. Like the good characters are really good, and the antagonists are reeeealllllly evil. I did enjoy BRIGHT GIRL though.

-----------------

TOP 5 SCORES

1. Long Vacation
2.Love Generation
3. GTO
4. Wedding Planner ^^
5. er....allow me to cheat again Big Smile

the ff don't really have the best overall scoring/soundtracks, but their themesongs sure do rock Big Smile

-Kamisama Mou Sukoshi Dake
-Tengoku Ni Ichiban Chikai Otoko
-Trick 1
-Itsumo Futari De
-Blackjack Ni Yoroshiku

It's impossible to give you the absolute top 5 dramas, seeing as there are so many good dramas out there, and many more I've yet to finish, that my force me to change favorites... But I will give you my opinion on some of the music in dramas... I will categorize it, seeing as how attempting to think of the best overall music would be just as impossilbe as trying to think of the best dramas...

Best Single From a Drama

(TOSS UP BETWEEN)
"Dreaming Butterfly" - by 3rd Line Butterfly from K-drama, ROYOW
"Doll's Dream" - by Loveholic from K-drama, A Good PersonI
I don't know why, but something about Dream/ or Dreaming seems to do it for me

Best Complimentary Score to a Drama

The music from the K-drama, Tell Me You Love Me.
The simultaneously quiet, flowing, and tragic tone of the music added the new dimensions to the tragedy of this drama. The music and the drama fit each other so perfectly, in a way I've rarely seen in any drama

Best Intro Melody
J- Drama, Summer Snow.
This is what intro melody should be. Short and succint but still able to set the mood for the drama.

Best Ending/ Credits Music
J- Anime, GTO. I think its by someone named Kirari.
I know. Not exactly a drama. But I felt obliged. While the show itself is comical and outlandish, this song is very subdued. I liked it precisely because of that, as I felt it conveyed the inner emotion of Onizuka as a teacher.

Best Use/Adaptation of Music Not Intended for or Original to the Drama
Paganini's Classical Violin Piece in K-Drama, Sandglass. I think it's a sonata, but I'm not sure.
I wasn't a big fan of this drama, but I had to acknowledge its successful use of Paganini. So associated with the drama is the song that many believe it was written solely as the theme song and don't realize it's a piece by Paganini.

Best "Something's Gonna Happen", Impending Music
Music from K-Drama, I'm Sorry, I Love You.
I may be a bit partial considering I'm watching the drama currently. But dammit, it keeps me on the edge of my seat, making me eager and anxious to see what's gonna happen next.

Music With Most Comical Effect
Music from J- Drama, Gokusen.
I don't know if you would really consider it music, or just sound effects, but whatever it is, it's offbeat and highlights the humor in situations shown extremely well.

My point exactly! I watched it almost religiously cuz it had enough to keep me hooked. Then the last episode rolled around, let me down. Not just let me down but more like dropped me off the empire state building onto a vat of broken glass, then set me on fire.I felt like someone played a cruel joke on me, making me waste 20 hours of my life like that.

Since I have only seen the beginning part of one Chinese (TW) dorama and not started to watch ROYOW yet, I can't really classify them...

As for JDorama...

1) Toshiie & Matsu / sharing position with Kinpachi Sensei 6.
(I hate to leave out Kinpachi Sensei but it's in a genre all by itself in my book.)
2) Kasoken no Onna (Investigator Mariko) [now going strong with a fifth season]
3) Beautiful Life
4) Aoi Tori... (I should perhaps put this higher but ... naaah we'll see)
5) O-Sama no Resutoran sharing it's place with Long Vacation

I bet Sekai no chuusin de Ai wo Sakebu will place it self in here once I get it completed.

As for a TV special I'd include...
Kawa Itsuka Umi E
(6 episodes by 3 directors/writers) but at the same time I don't feel it fits the classification of a dorama only as we know them.
This is almost more a movie / miniseries really well made.

Best lead songs...

1) AOI TORI - Globe doing "Wanderin' Destiny"
Keiko's voice is unbeatable for this
I believe Marc Panther wrote the lyrics and Komuro... wow..
can anyone match his musical sense.

// FYI on the "Your know youre an addict" ...
Komuro married Keiko in 2002 so their both of the market folks Smile
She won the audition to become Globe's member after falling of the stage first too.
Got back up and outsang the competition in a heartbeat.
A pretty funny tidbit of information I think. //

2) Forbidden Love - Utada Hikaru doing "First Love"

If I am not completely missinformed, she wrote the first lyrics for this one
when she was 12 years old, and this was what made her dad tell her to
start doing something with music more structured and determined.

I have yet to pick a 3 through 5 here...
