Wow thats a really bad thing to do. Well i guess the CD for the drama would have to cost for something as for the subs they did mention D-addicts so i wouldnt count that as stealing

Fansubs are not supposed to be sold in the first place. They are free.

Mmmm...I think he thought it was like 2 dollars or something CD+Shipping. I think that's fine and is just considered distribution. However I think the disc was purchased for much more than 2 dollars

WAAAAHHH!!! Well that totally reaks of theft!! *Sigh* Some people jus don't know where to stop. And it's kinda true...nothing we can do really, fansubs are not protected, neither is D-addicts, so all we can do is sit and watch as they steal right from under our noses. Those sly, rude, crude, and tattood people! One day justice will be on our side fansubers, one day.

Why is tattoos being associated with sly, rude, and crude? I don't have any, nor do I like them, but I still don't think that association is valid.

Anytime there's a niche in the market, there will always be those people who will take full advantage of the opportunity - and with as little work as possible. If Korean dramas weren't popular, you wouldn't see that much bootlegging. So consider the popularity as one reason for the flood of ripping off consumers with fanworks.

I just don't understand how people expect to pay $20 for an entire series and still be dumbfounded that it is a bootleg. Even American DVDs cost more than $20. And everyone knows that most things Asian - especially imports - are always going to be expensive. Just tonight I was standing at the register line at a Don Quijote store when I saw Jumong volume 1 on sale for $60. And this is the YA Entertainment release. $60 is what you should actually be paying for Korean drama box sets - not $20 or less.

Buying bootlegs really suck. I have a good feeling when I own something that is properly licensed and official. Just remember - licensed products cost a lot of money because licensing in itself is expensive. Unless the seller enjoys giving away his money by selling merchandise at a loss, the consumer should always expect to pay premium prices for official goods.

what do you expect from buying bootleged DVD. Oh and I'm not being a hypocrite here, but wouldn't it be best if practice a little discretion, bootleg is interchangeable with pirated so you know.

Well said. I've been duped by eBay sellers more than a few times for Hong Kong DVDs (the bootlegs are often very similar in price to real ones, given that particular market), but now I've gone back and bought originally licensed copies. It somehow feels better that way. =)

that's just horrible! whether d-addicts is protected or not, it's still STEALING ya know, they're making money on someone else's back! every fansubber lets their audience know in each epi that it's a 'free fansub' and that 'it's forbidden to sell etc. it'
I'd see those thiefs in court Cussing

oh i know you didn't mean it ^_^
fansubbing isn't exactly 100% legal. i think because of the....genova convention? it's been discussed a few times in this forum and it didn't end well, so let's not go there ^_^"
