This is a 7 DVD box set with 3 episodes per disc. The last disc is just 2 episodes w/Extras. It comes with English subtitles only and Korean audio only. These are Region 1 discs

Subtitles = They are complete, grammatically correct with no noticable errors or ommissions. Letters that people are reading are often translated but signs are not. (I don't speak Korean so accuracy I can not judge)

Music Subtitles = In an incomprehensible decision insert songs are frequently subtitled but Opening and Closing Songs are not. Also insert songs are only subtitled when no one is speaking. If there is a conversation and music is playing in the background; the subtiles for the song will appear in any pauses in the conversation (Not on the top of the screen). It can be very ackward but if no one is speaking they flow rather well.

Video Display = The picture is 4:3. I think this was how it was originally displayed on TV.

Video Quality = The picture quality was excellent.

Audio = Audio quality was excellent and consistant.

Extras = Includes a reference guide with cultural notes about the names, traditions and places in ROYOW. (Stuff like did you know it's traditional to eat white tofu when you get out of jail in Korea) It was interesting to read. The last disc has the first episode of DAMO. There are no specials related to ROYOW on any of the discs.

Overall this is a good quality release. I was annoyed at the music subtitling sometimes because it can be distracting. However my main concern is always picture and subtitle quality and in that I had no complaints (Though I didn't like the show). I give this version a B+

Thanks for the review! I always enjoy reading others' opinions on these drama releases. Big Smile

i have this set too... i am a huge fan of Lee Na Young, but she hasn't been in a tv drama since Ireland, and has since moved onto film... I started collecting as much of her work as possible. Yang Dong Geun is a very talented actor as well... seems underrated especially amongst overseas fans, because he's not your typical pretty boy. at the time (this was from 2002, i believe), i thought it was a relatively good drama. but if you've seen so many melodramas with the terminal illness plot before watching this, yeah, i don't think it would be very enjoyable.

I didn't watch the entire dvd set, only because I had already seen the drama before I purchased it. I don't know why I buy these, I guess for the sake of collecting. this is an older release, one of the earlier ones from YA. i can't exactly comment on the subtitle quality, but from the first couple discs, it is accurate with little to no errors in spelling and grammar... translation is very good, from the little Korean I do understand.

You actually did mention in your review that you didn't like the show, but why did you buy it if it's one of the worst k-dramas you've ever seen?
