Hi guys,

I recently installed Vista Home Premium on my PC, and everything is working fine apart from this annoying error message regarding "RunDLL32" error which occassionally pops up in my screen.

This error message (by microsoft) usually pops up whenever i try to copy/cut paste a file (for instance: a drama downloaded from D-addicts) from an external device or whatever (i don't know what exactly is the problem so can't be so clear here)

Anyways, this is the detail of the error message:

I'm a total newB with these stuffs, so if anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated Tongue (Hope there isn't any personal info in that detail, lol)

Thanks,

I wouldn't worry about it much, Vista is just quite buggy at this point. Everything causes errors in Vista. I believe XP had many rundll32.exe errors as well when it was starting out. Just keep faith that Mister Bill Gates wants another billion dollars and will release a very lovely service pack 2 come summer. I have Vista Ultimate baking on a 2nd partition waiting for SP2 ^_^

Based on that crash dump, it appears that you may have a compatibility problem with a video or audio codec. That's really all I can get out of it. More technically speaking, the error indicates a problem with the MPEG splitter that is used in MPEG videos, such as DVDs or other MPEG source. I'm pretty sure that all the video and audio codecs out there - especially those codec packs - are incompatible with Windows Vista. Assuming that you watch the dramas off D-Addicts, you must have installed additional codecs to watch them. The file impgspl.ax that is involved in the error is a dead giveaway.

My honest opinion - I would downgrade to Windows XP. I would give it another six months before all the codecs, soft subtitle handlers, and other things are updated for Vista compatibility. I doubt Ligos - the source of impgspl.ax - has been updated for Vista.

Thanks Groink,

Yeh, it seems that whenever i "touch" MPEG files, the error message appear.
Suppose i need to hope ms will put up some sort of patch to solve this kinda probs...
I havn't used any codec packs, and the only codec i manually installed are things like "Divx", "CoreAVC", "MKV (Matroskva or something, lol)" and i'm, sure that's about it..... Neutral

Hmm.....downgrading to XP.... Crying .......

er...if you upgraded from XP to Vista, you probably have to reinstall XP from scratch. The XP install CD probably won't recognize the Vista installation, and will want to install ALL of XP's system files. That also means reformatting the hard drive, which will wipe out everything, including any saved documents, preferences, settings, etc. You might want to consider a substantial backup before you "downgrade".
