its always sad to loose a pet, its like you're loosing a family member. Maybe in the future you'll feel okay to get another pet to bring you joy! 
As for me I only have on cat,.. my father isn't a big animal person so it took me around six years of begging just to get one. :S lol

Right now our family has a dog, he goes by the name Bastian, and he is mix of Labrador Retriever and Irish Setter!
And for myself I have a little bunny by the name Crysander and a frog, Trevor.
