Vulcan 300 Fansubs is pleased to release the complete Soft Subs for the Hero 2001 DVD raws. The individual sub files will be taken down shortly and reposted as zipped packages of sub files. It has been great pleasure working on this series and I'd like to thank pegsball, pokute and chigubon for all their help. Please give them a big round of applause!!
These subs are timed to the [D-W]Katsu release of the
Hero DVD raws. The video raws are available here:

Hmm... If we are the same Vulcan 300 I sure don't know anything about it. I did enjoy watching the first dozen or so episodes of KnGB, and got a good laugh out of the Vulcan 300. Chigubon picked the name, and I think it was just a coincidence.
Just to let folks know, pegsball has passed on the first edited version of episode 1 to me for QC, and it will take me a couple of days to QC it. I think everyone will be very pleased with our subs. It will be the first opportunity for non Japanese speakers to see this show as it was meant to be, without the censoring and defacement done by Singapore TV, and with proper subs!
Thanks to jgunness for recognising the value of this project and taking the initiative to get it rolling, and to [D-W}Katsu for the great dvd rips.

One thing about episode 1 has always bothered me... I never understood how the contents of the VHS tape were so compelling... Maybe I'm just dense, but I just never got the "aha" moment in epsiode 1. Please be sure to use a spoiler hider if you explain it to me in this thread!!

If the accused knickers theif was out that morning stealing knickers and did set the video timer to record his anime, then the video tape would have had the start of the news bulletin on it as it was interupting the TV schedule. But...because the guy was in his house and subsequently not out stealing knickers - he taped the anime himself from the start, not taping the beginning of the news bulletin (you see that he started recording at 8.05, just as the bulletin ended).
Does that make any sense at all?! I had to really think about it when I was editing!!

Hmm... I guess it makes sense, but I just don't get an "aha" from it. Oh well... At this point the business of the show is mainly the introduction of the large ensemble of central characters. You have to wonder whether they ever successfully prosecuted any cases before Kuryu showed up, since they all seem to be allergic to work!

Read the first post, it explains why. Subs that have received the tender love of not only a translator but an editor and QC'er as well are much more tractable in actual use.
