jellybean: the 'one piece' stuff was inside of the fujitv bldg. i think it was sankai (3rd flr). there were some ainori stuff, chibi marukochan and hey hey hey music champ. pretty cool place to visit.
the R&R stage was outside of the fujitv bldg. apparently, it looks like a mini fair. several booths for the various television shows. stages with performances, ainori van, etc. i thought it was a one-time thing, but apparently, it's always there?!?!

Here are a couple of pics I took in Japan. The pic of the girl in the kimono is from a Temple in Kyoto. It was taken during the yearly girl's day festival. Actually, I got the job through a job fair ("Career Forum") that I went to in Los Angeles during September. These job fairs are for English/Japanese bilinguals who are completing or have completed a university degree. Some companies have intern positions, might be worth looking into.

These Career Forums are pretty aggressive. You apply online from around a month in advance, and initial screening tends to happen before the event. Most companies set up interviews beforehand, so that you can have 2nd/3rd round interviews if time allows. But, it's still okay to approach a company cold, and you still should be able to get an interview.
They hold three job fairs in the US each year:
February: NYC (~30 companies)
September: Los Angeles (~40 companies, technical positions only)
October: Boston (~170 companies)
The language requirements vary depending on the company. But, you are required to have your resume in English and Japanese. Most of my interviews were conducted in Japanese. I went to two Career Forums (NYC and LA), the first one was for practice, essentially.
No matter what you do, there will ALWAYS be a language barrier. But, dealing with it confidently is the key to succeeding. I learned this the hard way. 
It's possible to get a job for a few years, or to get one permanently. Traditional Japanese companies (i.e. Fujitsu, Toshiba) see their employees as long-term investments. And, if you leave in a few years, they feel that they are losing their return on investment, so they are less inclined to hire people knowing that they are only temporary.
But, most non-Japanese companies with branches in Japan are a bit more flexible. There are a substantial number at the Career Forums. That said, still apply to the traditional Japanese companies, because there is a lot that you can learn from the interviews.

Wow, what a post! Thanks a lot. So you got your job through a job fair? That's actually the way I want to try to get a job, well, when I graduate. I think I'll maybe just apply after I graduate instead of applying for the intern positions. That's actually a really helpful site, I've been trying to find something like this for a while. I like the fact that it's aimed towards bilinguals.
But approaching a company cold is a good idea too. I'll try both. I just really want to wait until I get my bachelors degree since I hear that Japanese companies are only taking 4+ years of schooling. I could be wrong though. Also, I hear that the Japanese job market doesn't really deal with foreign applicants that well. A very closed market. Again, I could be wrong. That's a lot of Japanese technical companies. I wonder if the job fairs that my school offer have any have that kind of support from Japanese companies..
I understand about the language requirements. So having a resume in English and Japanese is pretty much a must. I like the way they have practice interviews. I really want to try to go for this but I have to study Japanese really hard in order to do so. Like you said, I have to deal with it confidently. So since your going to Japan to work until March, are you working for them now from Canada or are you working for someone else?
As for the temporary situation, I'm actually relieved that they prefer a more permanent person. I was a little afraid that it might be just that, temporary. Also, on a side note, Fujitsu is the company I really want to work for, but we'll see how that goes. I wonder if they help outwith such things and permanent residency and eventually naturalization. I'd like to do that eventually. I apply to a traditional Japanese company and hopefully everything will turn out have. Again though, I still have like 2.5 years until I graduate so I have plenty of time to iron out some details.
