Ohsama no Resutoran (King's Restaurant)

For a summary, visit these sites:
Drama Wiki: http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Ohsama_no_resutoran
Jdorama: http://jdorama.com/drama.291.htm

Timed to DVD Rips provided by polecat1:

Subtitles Notes:
These English soft subs are timed to the above raw dvd rips posted by polecat1. The NGN subtitles which came with the previous tv-rip videos posted by ap were not synchronized with this (better quality) release by polecat1. Hence I decided to resynchronize them and did some minor editing as well along the way. My motivation behind doing this was to be able to understand the story myself. I thought others could benefit from this work as well so I offer them as is. If you notice any major mistake, please let me know. Enjoy and Bon cinoche! Smile

Subtitles (srt format):
The missing dialogue of ep4 has been translated by polecat1, as well as the ending theme song. Thanks polecat1! (Note: I realize that these subs are sometimes scarce, but I think that they will be useful to many of us who do not (yet) understand Japanese.) Thanks for waiting everyone.

sanzaru: thanks for doing this. i may need to merge this with the existing ohsama thread, but i'll leave it alone for now.

it would be nice for you to complete this series, but you may have your work cut out for you in the later eps which was missing a lot of dialogue. good luck to you.

Sure, I leave the merging at your discretion.

Now that you mention this, I just noticed the missing dialogue at the beginning of ep 4. I haven't checked how many episodes are like that. Anyway, I will stick to my original plan and synchronize whatever dialogue is available.

Thanks everyone for your words of support. They are truly welcomed and appreciated.

You're a star for doing this sanzaru, thanks a lot.
When we've got all the correctly timed subtitled scripts, does anyone think it'll be worth ripping the scenes with missing subtitles and then starting a thread in the fansubbers forum to try and get someone to translate these scenes?

Great job for subbing this amazing series.

Btw, can you upload your synchronized sub for ep 4? I know that it is missing the first 5 minutes, but I think it's still ok rather than the current sub. Thanks!

The resynchronization of the subs is now complete. Unfortunately, no one has volunteered yet to translate the first 4 minutes of episode 4 (You'll notice a warning to that effect at the beginning of this episode.)

Thanks everyone for your comments and I hope you enjoy these subs!

sanzaru: thanks again for your work on resynching these subs. are you sure only ep4 has missing dialogue? when i watched the series, there were several times when actors and actresses would speak several lines, and only a short subtitle would appear. i thought there was a lot 'lost in translation'.

in any case, i edited your title. you are more likely to receive some assistance if people know that the subs are 'near complete' than if it IS complete.

thanks again!

You are right that a the subs are sometimes a bit scarce, especially in the later episodes---and to that extent, aren't complete yet. However, the episode where comprehension might be affected the most is, obviously, the forth one. So, if anyone has a bit of time to work on this, episode 4 is the first priority. Once this episode is fixed, we'll be in a much better shape. Note: I translated the dialogue in French that was not translated in the previous subs (that is, as far as I could understand their broken, and sometimes quite funny, French)

Thanks for editing the title and let's hope someone volunteers.

sanzaru

I looked at ep 4 on my copy of Ohsama no Resutoran (King's Restaurant) and the following is the translation for the opening two and a half minutes of the episode:

Quote:
“Timing is important in life and making omelettes”

Scene: in Nishimura’s office.

Ono: We want your help.

Ito: Please.

Ono: I’m sure you must feel the same way we do.
Sengoku will eventually take control.

Nishimura: I must admit that he’s getting carried away.

Ono: We should take measures while we can.

Scene: The gathering of the staff in the restaurant.

Tsutsui: Good morning everyone.
I would like to discuss the three things necessary for work.
First is the stomach…

Nishimura: The employees have something to say to you.

Tsutsui: What is it?

Nishimura: Kajihara!

Ono: This is difficult for me to say…
This isn’t my personal opinion, but everyones opinion…
Please keep that in mind.

Zen: Out with it

Ono: It concerns Sengoku.

Tsutsui: What about him?

Ono: Wada will give you the details

Ito: I wrote it down. Please take a look. (Puts up a hand written list)
I outlined our restaurant’s position of service.
The owner, Rokuro, is at the top.
Followed by the manager, Moritomo
Next is the food manager, Kajihara
Below him is me.
And below me is Sengoku.

Tsutsui: Sengoku, you’re way at the bottom. Is that all right with you?

Ono: Sengoku requested it.

Matsumoto: I wanted to start over.

Tsutsui: What about that?

Ito: You want me to explain?

Matsumoto: Is that a problem?

Ito: Position wise you are at the very bottom. Yet you seem to be interfering in everyone’s work.

Tsutsui: I don’t think so.

Ito: Everyone thinks so.

Note: Since I can't remember all the character names I used the actors names to indicate who was speaking. Sorry is that's confusing.

Are these the subs you're working with? If not, and you think it might be usefull, let me know. It's been a while since I've watched the show, but I don't recall any gaps in the subtitles on my copy.
