Boku no Aruku Michi The Path I Walk
Tuesday 10pm, Fuji TV/KTV, Fall 2006
Kusanagi Tsuyoshi plays an autistic man who begins working at a zoo alongside his childhood friend Miyako, played by Karina. The pseudo-sequel to Boku no Ikiru Michi and Boku to Kanojo to Kanojo no Ikiru Michi (i.e. "The Way I Live", "The Way I and She and She Live"), all written by Hashibe Atsuko and helmed by Kusanagi. I can't guarantee I'll be able to sub the entire thing, but since nobody's doing the English subs, I thought I'll give it a shot. Anyone who's interested in helping, please message me.
Subtitle news updates:
Update: The last episode's subs are up! Thanks to shoku-pan again for the work, and everyone here for waiting so patiently.
Update: Episode 10 subs are up! I've added something special: the lyrics to the song Arigatou by SMAP, together with my pretty unpolished translation. Hope everyone likes it.
Update: Episode 9 subs are up! Many important developments in this one. Here's a little note on a moment (10:02-10:13) I couldn't really explain in the subs:
Hidden:
This is the scene where Chiaki asks Miyako about what they do on Kawahara's days off, in Kawahara's presence, and Miyako replies about him going to the library, exercising and whatnot. Miyako makes a point of referring to him formally as shujin (my husband), but otherwise when talking with Chiaki she just says Masaya-san. This probably contributed to Chiaki's feeling of tension between the two.
Update: Episode 8 subs are up! It's nice to see drama and movie veteran Oosugi Ren (大杉漣) in a role with more depth than he usually gets to portray.
Update 2 for episode 7 subs: I've had to make a small correction to the preview for episode 8. 46:24 should read "Promotion?", not "A birth?" If you've downloaded the subs already, you don't need to do it again
Update: Episode 7 subs are up! Sorry we're a little later than usual.
Update 2 for episode 5 subs: The subs are up! I thank shoku-pan, my co-subber once again, and everyone else here, for waiting so patiently.
Update 1 for episode 5 subs: We're almost done! Just for fun, here's my translation of the list Teruaki's mom wrote for him:
Hidden:
Matsuda Miyako-chan & Kawahara Masaya-san
Wedding Party
1. Reception
Give the person at the reception the party fee of 5000yen.
2. Buffet
Take the food you like, but only as much as you're able to eat.
3. Toasts
Do not drink the wine/champagne. Take your favorite orange juice.
4. Speeches
Many people will be giving speeches in turn. Listen to their speeches.
5. Karaoke
Many people will be singing songs in turn. Listen to their singing.
6. Bouquet presentation
Teruaki's role is to give the bouquet to Miyako-chan.
7. The bride and groom's greetings and vows
Listen to what Miyako-chan and Kawahara-san say.
Editorial notes:
We've left untranslated:
1. -san, -chan, -sensei and the like.
2. itadakimasu: said before eating to thank the person for preparing or providing the food, although people usually say it just as a habit.
3. otsukare(sama)(desu/deshita): said to acknowledge that somebody's worked hard, such as when a manager returns from visiting clients, or when people are leaving the office at the end of the day.
We've also chosen not to translate names of various kinds of food, but attach brief descriptions instead. E.g. unajuu in ep8.

Thank you for subbing this series.
I have never seen this 'Boku no Aruku Michi' series before, so after skimming around episode 1, i think it is a good series in this season.

Thank you for subbing this first episode. I just finished watching it and it's a really interesting show. This seems like it will be a really good drama.
