I'm got tired of keeping having to delete trolling posts so I've banned some parts of sbcglobal.net range (71.146.0.0/16). I know that there a fair few ppl that uses that part of the network so if you know someone who does and want to use d-addict and follow the rules then PM me with their IP and I'll make exceptions for those.

I did a 71.146.0.0/16 ban. Anybody in that range, sorry.
Interestingly enough as soon as I made this topic, there was a DoS attack with 100 requests/second going to this topic url. Maybe now I know who's been doing all the attack the pass few weeks.

I changed the ban its not the entire sbc net, I checked your IP you should be ok. Only for ppl who fall within 71.146.0.0/16

i'm one of those ppl who were affected by this..
Please note though that most of the sbcglobal.net users have DHCP assigned IP addresses.. Anytime, you restart your DSL routers, you might receive a different IP address.
To the admin, I'll just PM you my IP address.. Thanks.

Maybe users of any banned ISP should try using Torpark:
http://torpark.nfshost.com/
Basically, it is sort of like using a proxy service.

I use SBCGlobal, although my IP isn't in the affected range — however, when I first tried to visit the D-Addicts site today, I discovered that I was for some reason logged out (despite my customary "Keep me logged in" setting). So then I tried to log in, but the site told me that my password was wrong — which it was not. I wound up needing to have a new password sent to me, after which the site told me that my account had been "reactivated."
No problem now, I suppose… but mighty irritating for a few minutes there. Could that in any way have been caused by the SBCGlobal ban? And if not, then WTF happened?

| I don't think it was caused by the banned. When was the last time you login? Inactive accounts do get deactivated after a period of time. Also if your IP changes regularly then the autologin will not work all that well as the forum code will double check your IP address of your session with your login IP to provide a measure of security against session hijacking.

Last time I logged in was very late yesterday, or maybe early this morning. I check D-Addicts pretty much every day, so there's no way it was from inactivity.
I suppose it could have been the IP thing, though… because my IP address does sometimes change (for reasons completely beyond my understanding, since it does so of its own accord).

Ruroshin, just out of curiosity, what kind of reasoning would a person have to want to DoS d-addicts anyways? The community is pretty passive and isn't really hostile..
Anyways, there are phpBB tweaks that automatically block DoS attempts so you don't have to worry about bandwidth issues.
