Hi, Mich-Anne here...

I'm trying to make a MV using Windows Movie Maker 2.0

Whenever I play the drama, the subtitles is showing... so no problem about that..

But...

Quote:
When I put a clips (or clips) on the timeline to start making a movie. The subtitles won't show...

NOTE: The subtitles are in .srt files...

Thank You!

i think its because the subtitles arent hardsub'ed into the video, your video player is just putting liek a layer of subtitles over the video image.

What I would do with Windows Movie Maker is to create your project without the subtitles. Export the project using the DV codec so that there is absolutely no loss in the video. However this will produce a VERY LARGE file - roughly 12GB for 45 minutes of video. Then with the DV file, bring it into VirtualDub and apply the subtitles there. I've done this many times but with Pinnacle Studio, which is basically the same thing as WMM.

Trying to do subbing, editing, and compression in one task under WMM is not a good idea.

I have a question about that program - Can I import an .RM file on there to edit or does it have to be something that Windows Media Player can read?

The format has to be something that Windows Movie Maker can read:
• Video files: .asf, .avi, .wmv
• Movie files: MPEG1, .mpeg, .mpg, .m1v, .mp2
• Audio files: .wav, .snd, .au, .aif, .aifc, .aiff
• Windows Media files: .asf, .wm, .wma, .wmv
• Still images: .bmp, .jpg, .jpeg, .jpe, .jfif, .gif
• MP3 format audio: .mp3

Although you can play a file in Microsoft Windows Media Player, you may not be able to import the file into Windows Movie Maker. You may not be able to import the file if the codec that was used to encode the audio or video is not a codec that is included with Windows XP. In that case, you may be able to re-encode the video or audio by using Windows Media Encoder, and then import the video or audio.

Note The MPEG2 format has several codecs that are not supported by Windows Movie Maker. Even if you have downloaded and installed these codecs on your computer, files in the MPEG2 format may not work in Windows Movie Maker or may cause other problems. Converting the MPEG2 format to another compatible format may work for most MPEG2 files. However, some MPEG2 codecs include copy protection schemes that will prevent you from converting the file.

No "free" tools that are feature-rich like WMM or comparable products like Pinnacle Studio, among others. You can home-brew stuff using free tools like VirtualDub and such, but the process is like trying to dig a ditch with a spoon.
