No offense, but... I think this is getting a bit too far by now. Every forum has a thread like this. We're talking about a man who recklessly played with his life and even endangered the life of his little baby son once. Sooner or later this was bound to happen.
Honestly, I'm not sad. I didn't know him, why should I be sad? I don't give a damn.
And frankly... where's the "Christoper Stokes RIP" thread (the British tourist who was murdered by a fanatic in Jordan just some 2 days ago)? That's a sad event. A tourist gets murdered while visiting a foreign country and having a good time. But it's forgotten by everyone. No instead we all pseudo-mourn a guy who could have been killed hundreds of times while performing his crazy ass stunts and who got killed because of an accident most likely triggered by his lack of respect for the danger of certain animals...
Now, excuse the hell out of me if I don't fall on my knees and cry over Croc Hunter's death.

| The fact is that Steve Irwin's unique energy, spirit, courage, and humour brought entertainment and a degree of impact on his fans. We'll miss him for that... and who's mourning? We're paying respect to him and his family.

i guess any penguin is entitled to his own opinions....
best wishes to his family and i liked his shows. he added a lot of fun to TV viewing. he really looked like he enjoyed his work.

I can see where you're coming from but when people say they will miss him, they will miss the shows he does, the in your face, full on, hands on contact with the animals. Sure, I know there are loads of documentaries about animals and wildlife without actually being so intrusive to them, (cuz I do admit, sometimes he would provoke them)but I guess this was just another approach, he was doing things a different way and sharing it by bringing it to viewers all over the world. I personally liked it, cuz it was soo different and exciting. By watching this, I guess viewers felt like they knew him, his personality, his whole BIG persona. Whereas not many people knew one british tourist? 
Neways, here in Australia, its kinda been overshadowed (a little) by another death of a racing legend, Peter Brock
