didnt he also let XLN drank his blood in '96 version?
I don't think I ever saw 96' version.Anyone saw it? But if you're referring to 95' with Louis Koo and Carmen Lee. That one I don't remember.
oops, I meant '95.. sry
one thing that confuse me.. if the director did make YG lived w/ XLN for 9 years.. then doesnt that mean Huang Rong and Guo Jing are around 50 when he met them again? gettin pregnant at 50? this would be seriously flaw..
btw, I'm just tryin to understand more about the story and just havin fun at this discussion.. im not tryin to start arguments or anythin.. so yea, just lettin u kno

I hope we all feel that way. Just have fun and discuss this series as we go along.
I was curious too about the time YG spent in the tomb. We would think 3 to 5 years. So after rewatching episode 9, the discussion between YG, Guo Jing, Huang Rong, and the priests only mentioned "years".
Guo Jing: You said that for the past few years... None of the Teachers in Quan Zhen Sect taught you any martial arts. Then how did you spend your time over the years?
YG: How else can I spend it? When Uncle Guo sent me to the mountain... You defeated more than a hundred sticking Quan Zhen priests... They couldn't wait for you to leave. I had to withstand their vicious beatings.
Huang Rong: Guo'er, all these years in Chong Yang Palace has really been hard on you.

It's supposed to be around 3-5 years, just this version may be different (its a superficial change if you don't try to think into it too much I suppose).
As for Huang Rong, I think she was in her late 30's - early 40's (mid if the time away from Peach blossom island is true). At the end of LoCH Guo Jing was around 20, and I believe Huang was slightly younger. Mu Nianci was pretty far into her pregnancy at that point, so Yang Guo would probably be born soon after.

Go and watch it back episode 9 at 26:30, he says 10 years.

How can I missed it, I guess I skipped it and jumped to the meeting.
YG is speaking to himself: Uncle Guo... Aunty Guo... I did not expect to be back again. From Peace Blossom Island until now. It's been over 10 years. Do you still remember me?

best bet is to understand Chinese and listen to wat they're really sayin, the translators are doin great job, but they might overhear thing once awhile.. that might be a reason.... or.. Yang Guo in this version is around 7 or 8 years old when he left Peach Blossom Island.. or he could be sayin that: from coming to Peach Blossom Island to now, it been 10 years, and he stayed at Peach Blossom for couple of years.. let say Jing found him when he was 8.. stayed there til he was 13.. met them again at 18.. that mean from Peach Blossom Island til now is 10 years......... just throwin out possibility.. Im not able to accept that XLN is 28... that's pretty old.. yet they're still callin her "little girl" and so young and stuffs like that
oh yea.. on the scene that YG bite the grass so he'd drown rather than XLN.. and someone argue that it show the love that earlier versions lack.. now that I think about it, its like.. wouldnt u do the same for ur mother? or someone who brought u up and love u n respects u? he havent realize his love for her as a wife yet, but as a teacher.. he only realize his love later on when she left

I wasn't reading the subtitles, I understand mandarin. And the translation was correct anyways...why would the translator put false stuff there? YG did not stay at that island for more than a year. It doesn't matter what you're "able to accept"...you would be the director if you were able to accept it. This series is "this" version of the series, it doesn't have to go exactly according to the others, I like 8 or 9 years better because it would build a stronger bond between the 2, as you will see in episode 12.
Hidden:
when Guo Jing wanted to kill YG, YG lets him do it...now Guo Jing only took care of YG for a short period of time, but YG is willing to die because of graditude. Now if XLN took care of YG for a really long time, what do you think he would be willing to give up for her?
I don't care whether his love for her was like a mothers or a wife...although he explained it quite clearly in episode 5 and 11...maybe you're not watching the series at all...he made vows in both episodes, and he said he long ago regarded her as his wife. Whether the love was for a mother or wife, this version shows a greater emphisis on the bond between the 2 than the earlier versions, that was what i was pointing out, not whether his love for her was like a mother or wife.

did i say anythin about them puttin false stuff in there? overheard things and puttin false stuffs in there on purpose is two different thing..
and wat acceptin it or not make a different to me bein a director?? u're acceptin it n u're not the director. and of course this version doesnt have to follow the story, when did i say it have to? if it follow the story, it'd be too predictable like i said before and uninterestin..
in eps 5, he didnt explain anythin.. he said he like her... that was it.. n yea, im not watchin it yet im arguin w/ u about it just bc i feel u're wrong.... uh if u even read wat i been sayin, u should kno i watch it... n no, u didnt say it show "greater emphasis on the bond of the two", u said emphasis on the relationship, meanin husband/wife relationship.. which is different thing..
yea, i dont watch and rewatch and memorize all the words like u, but wat i said is based on my impression of how their actions/words make me feel..
have u even watch '95 one? go and watch it n u'd see they show a lot of love in that movie too... yea, i admit this one, the director added some scenes where they can show their love more, but i totally disagree w/ ur 1st statement that in earlier versions, they show lack of loves.. n i dont see how u can say they didnt built their relationship enough when he wait 16 years for her.. yea, um, im gonna wait for u for 16 years, but im not goin to die for u, ok?
another factor is that, do they even say how long YG stayed w/ the priests?? he could've stayed couple of years..
if u are right.. then this is pretty weird... he's 23 or 25 if when he came w/ the priest he was 15... yet he's cryin and actin childish n all this stuffs.. when Guo Jing was 25, he was one of the top fighter... n let see.. XLN was 18, 10 years.. 28 now.. how long they wander around? a year or 2? so let say 30.. 16 years later... 46, yikes... 46 at the end of the story.. pretty old, not much chance for havin kids there

What do you think a bond is?...It's a relationship between others, omg, do you know english? I didn't rewatch the series...I just went back to find the time of when he said stuff to prove my point...and is memorizing whether he said 10 years or something besides that a hard thing for you? what makes you think i rewatched it?
He didn't stay at Chong Yang Gong for a couple of years...you say you watched the series, but you don't even know that basic fact. When did YG leave that place? After the yearly duel where he was beaten up right? How long did his teacher say he taught YG kungfu? I don't have to watch it ten times to know that he said half a year.
Who said anything about them having kids?...where are you getting these arguments from?...the air?
I didn't say the past versions show a lack of love...it just lacks more than this version. I said in the past version, YG only said he loved XLN and would die for her. This version, he was about to die for her...do you understand now?
