omg, thank you soooo much!!!! I've been wanting to see this. I used to read the manga and liked it very much, despite the not-so-good art. It's one title I cherished when I was young, I'm just so glad to see it as a live action now ._________________

SP = Special, when associated with a regular drama it means the episode is a singular one, usually a longer story or as blackstarjr mentioned above it features behind-the scenes footage, interviews, making of, etc / when it`s not associated with a regular drama it means this is a "special" story, you could call it a made for tv movie since it`s not really a movie and it`s not really a regular drama. It`s a longer singular story. In this particular case, it`s a SP based on a popular japanese anime.

Thanks posole !
To add a bit of trivia to this thread, Chibi Maruko-chan is actually based on Sakura Momoko's childhood in Shizuoka-ken, and the characters in the manga, anime, etc, are real people.

My family has maintained a long friendship with Tama-chan, and she is one of the nicest people that I have ever met. (She still looks like the anime character.) |
Wow... a trivia... so much for a thing called 'trivia'. It was more like common sense... even for people who has watched it for their first time, or hasn't.

No way!! really? The first Japanese person whom I mentioned that I know
chibi maruko-chan told me that it was based on the real people. She said it reminds her
of her childhood too. I guess I was in luck.. That's why I thought it was a well known thing.
