[b] I did another copy-and-paste work by opening the subs in my internet browser & found out that I have to change the encoding to UTF-16 to be able to view it correctly. So after changing the encoding, I copied the subs and replaced the one I have currently using notepad, saved it & now the subs IS working for me! Here's a ysi link if you want the subs

Hello minna,
Brief intro, my name is hakim from US.. Just registered a moment ago bcoz I want to help everyones problem regarding the subs.

At first when i read jAna's solution, I was thinking "UTF- 16 what???....". scratch But after a while I understand what jAna meant by changing the encoding. So below I will list up steps to fix those subs.

1. DL the subs and right away open it using notepad (you'll understand why later)
2. open your web browser, in my case I use FireFox
3. File --> Open File --> open the sub ( try viewing all files )
4. Then at the sub window, View --> Character Encoding --> More Encodings --> UTF 16
5. Done that, you should Copy all the wordings and Paste into the sub in the notepad, thus deleting the old words with the new ones.
( observe there is no change in the characters of the subs, but rather the change is embedded in the characters, I guess Tongue )
6. Then you Save as, under the same name or whatever, but Encoding : ANSI
End you are done..

I am not a CS major or anything, because without jAna's posting I guess I will never know how to fix the subs thumleft

Thanks for the help! I actually tried this on the MatsuJun and Mao-chan Interview subs...and they worked perfectly! Thank you very much! thumright

Hello~ I am sort of "slow" when it comes to things like this. I downloaded both the Hana Yori Dango Top Scenes-Trivia Special 11-19-2005.srt and Hana Yori Dango Top Scenes-Trivia Special 11-19-2005.avi
I renamed the files..but everytime I play the .avi file, the subtitles don't show. Do you guys happen to know what I'm supposed to do with the .srt file??

I would really appreciate your help~ Thank you! ^_____^

hey..well first of all are the avi and srt files located in the same folder?
second, do you have vobsub or vsfilter for you to view soft subtitles?
if all fails try reading the FAQs...it really helps. Tongue
goodluck! salut
