It's not just you. This doesn't seem to work on VLC or mplayer on os x, although previous episodes had worked fine. Maybe this is a Mac problem?

I've been having problems playing this file with VLC as well. Sad

Regarding the last three posts, I am having the same problems on a Mac with OS X.
QuickTime Player (with all available codecs installed) = nothing viewable at all
MPlayer = very choppy video with green checkerboards
VLC = plays a little better than MPlayer, but has black checkerboards
(VLC will usually play anything except for WMV3/9 files)

Thanks for your torrents. Did you use a different codec for this? All of the previous episodes play well on my Mac.

I have also noticed that my Philips DVD/DivX Player that plays almost everything that I load into it won't play eps 1,2,3,4,and6. #5 was provided by gryzze in DivX format and it works fine.

The file seems to work fine on windows media player on a PC but won't run on anything on mac os tiger. Maybe some encoding changes have been made. But it seems very strange for something like this to be platform specific. Anyone out there have any insight?

Some of those file (episodes 1-4 & 6) were encoded using Xvid, which may mean that probably contain something called QPEL. There are some guides at www.videohelp.com that might help solve your problem when playing Xvid on any DVD Player that has this type of capabilites.

One question about your word "fix". Has chiisana_tantei "fixed" the file somewhere, or are you just referring to chiisana_tantei providing another "dose" of Itoh Misaki to the Windows crowd? ;-)

I'm referring to "chiisana_tantei providing another "dose" of Itoh Misaki to the Windows crowd" (not that I really like Windows).

I hope I can find a way to fix this problem so that others don't have to ask about it.

Hmm... I don't have any problem playing ep6 on my PC using ZommPlayer.
Also, I checked the file and it's not using QPEL.
I also compared ep4 and ep6 and I don't see any difference in the
encoding setting. I really don't know why... Unsure

Yes, I have the same problem playing this episode with VLC Player which usually plays everything. It only seems to work with RealPlayer. Anyway, is it possible to get another version of this episode released?

The only major difference I see is:

it's usually DivX Codec but this episode was XVID.

Actually, only ep5 is DivX. All others are XviD.
That's the part that I don't understand.

I'll try to get the DivX version and upload it here then.
